POLITICS THREAD!!!!!!
POLITICS THREAD!!!!!!
This is a place for us to state, debate and discuss politics! I encourage everyone to do so rationally and maturely, and would ask that all participants would refrain from abuse, even when in the heat of an argument, and that some of the more mature subjects would not be presented here. The Admins wll not publish any inappropriate comments.
However, I would discourage anyone from participating if they are easily offended, or dislike having their views challenged.
This may not be a popular idea, but I wanted to give people a chance to present their views and discuss the larger issues in our world today. I hope that this idea takes, and that it will also be enjoyable and informative! :)
I will begin by introducing a topic that is curently at large in America, but is also, I believe, appropriate for CB. I would ask the Admins to correct me if I am mistaken. :)
So-- what do you all think about the idea of including women in the military draft?
This thread is now closed for new comments.

Again, Mei-xue, you are contributing to the problem by throwing around these stereotypes. I'd really appreaciate it if you would stop using some examples of a group of people to represent the entire group.
I work hard, ok? I am NOT lazy, and if someone hired me, then the "real" American maid (in your words) would do just as well as any other hard worker, whether Mexican, black, Asian, green, blue, purple, whatever.
It's about the PERSON not the PEOPLE.
(May 13, 2016 - 7:57 am)
Okay. I'm sorry.
But are you sure about that? Wouldn't a Mexican work harder, BECAUSE she has to prove herself? I certainly feel I have to work harder to ge the same spot in a good college. We have to be more qualified to get the same amount.
(May 13, 2016 - 2:03 pm)
I have to work hard. I'm not going to be able to pay for college without student loans. I need to work harder to get scholarshops, because I can't do situation based- I have to get merit-based.

Also, can you reply to my comment on page 12?
(May 14, 2016 - 5:35 am)
Everyone, except for Native Americans, are immigrants in America.
(May 13, 2016 - 9:08 am)
Wait a sec.
I just realized something.
Children that AREN'T YOURS?!?!
Are you implying that I'm not American?!!!???!!!??
Mei-xue, Pearl was not directing this comment at you.

Well, I feel there is sort of an implication that if your parents are immigrants, that you aren't American. But why? Even if we are citizens, we are still outsiders?
(May 13, 2016 - 8:31 pm)
I would like to step out and say something really quick.
First what do the Mexicans have to prove? Don't Americans have things to prove too! Don't Russians? Blacks? Asians? HUMANS?
We are all humans. Okay? We all make mistakes, have thing to prove, are lazy, motivated, tired, awake....etc!
By saying the Mexicans work harder then Americans...well, I'll tell you right now that that is a huge stereotype!
And it hurts, thank you very much.
Okay?
Thank you.
Now don't go and start using stereotypes. It's like saying, "I like anime." Which is saying you like every Japanese animated film out there, including the stupid ones. The bad ones. The inappropriate ones. Etc....
Like saying, "I like food."
Books.
Movies.
You will not like them all.
But when you say that you are talking about the item as a whole. Like when you call a whole group, "Stupid" or something. You're calling each individual brain-dead.
When you call Americans "Lazy" you're calling every single chatterboxer who is American, lazy. When you call Mexicans "hardworking" you are saying not a single one of them has slacked off.
Donald Trump may be racist, though one of his secretaries is a black woman who loves the whole Trump family with her whole heart, and several of his employees are woman who get men's pay, (just saying) but we don't have to be!
We're humans.
I'm Katie.
You're whoever you are.
There is no one in the world like me. Not a single one.
Please, we need to delete this thread. Please. Kill it. That stereotype hurt me, okay? And I cannot imagine how many are littered throughout this thing.
Respect others, especially. And their races. Their leaders. Realize that everybody is different.
(May 13, 2016 - 7:14 pm)
How about this.
Immigrants in general have to work harder because they need to prove that they should be allowed to stay here.
(May 13, 2016 - 8:29 pm)
I'm only talking about the immigrants who come without being given permission to cross the border. China and Japan are far away from America and they can't just come into America by crossing the border. And not all Mexicans are coming illegally. You don't like stereotypes, such as stereotyping Republicans and saying that they're racist.
(May 14, 2016 - 4:52 pm)
And I need to work just as hard to show everybody I deserve that job promotion!
(May 13, 2016 - 11:03 pm)
AMEN KATY!!
(May 15, 2016 - 6:11 am)
No, it's easier for you. I'm not saying that it's your fault or anything, but people are subconsciously biased.
