POLITICS THREAD!!!!!!

POLITICS THREAD!!!!!!

This is a place for us to state, debate and discuss politics!  I encourage everyone to do so rationally and maturely, and would ask that all participants would refrain from abuse, even when in the heat of an argument, and that some of the more mature subjects would not be presented here. The Admins wll not publish any inappropriate comments.

However, I would discourage anyone from participating if they are easily offended, or dislike having their views challenged.

This may not be a popular idea, but I wanted to give people a chance to present their views and discuss the larger issues in our world today. I hope that this idea takes, and that it will also be enjoyable and informative! :)

I will begin by introducing a topic that is curently at large in America, but is also, I believe, appropriate for CB. I would ask the Admins to correct me if I am mistaken. :)

So-- what do you all think about the idea of including women in the military draft?

This thread is now closed for new comments.

I don't think that those people shouldn't be helped, I just don't think that it's necessarily the Goverment's job to do it. Extremist Republicans do have rather isolationist views, but all Republicans don't think that we should not let in any immigrants. That being said, we can't let every single immigrant into our country. I really don't think most Republicans hate Asians. Also, did you just say that Asians are better? I'm pretty sure that's not what you meant, but I'd like some clarification.

What I meant is that my mom is WAY better than all of her colleagues, and maybe even her boss. Why isn't she promoted?

Two words.

Asian immigrant.

I swear, if she were white and a natural-born citizen, then she would be at a much higher status in her company! She would get a much higher salary, the salary she deserves! If she weren't an Asian immigrant.

But she is.

Well, maybe there's no promotion to offer or maybe the company feels that they don't need to promote anyone and that everything is fine the way it is.

No, there was a promotion. But it went to a woman who was actually worse than my mom. My mom was better, but she didn't get it.

Well how do you know it's because of her race? For alll you know, it could be favoritism. The woman who got the promotion must have been favored. Is your mom new? Is the woman who got the promotion by chance related to the boss? There are a million possibilities.

Mei-uxe, I don't want to offend you at all since this thread has really gotten out of hand, but I get really annoyed if you say that Republicans hate all minorities. That isn't going to help you by saying that. It's part of the problem.

I am against a lot of Democratic ideas, and I am a Republican and I am pretty conservitive. Do I hate other races? No.

The problem is the people representing the party do. And that's not what it stands for. If you say that all Republican are against minorities, it's basically like saying, "Oh, all Republicans are rich white people."

That offends ME a lot, because then it means that by expressing my opinion I'm going to get a lot of hate.

The problem isn't who is Republican and Democrat, the problem isn't how stupid people can be about people who look different, the problem is just the entire, messed-up system. Having two parties that fight each other because they have different ideas destroys the idea that we have of freedom.

If I'm a Republican, it means that I'm not a Democrat. Because I'm not a Democrat, I don't want to vote a Democrat into office (and Hillary clinton....) but I also don't want to vote a certain orange Republican either.

If you say the system isn' broken, then think about this: the Trump and Clinton's unpopularity votes are both around 65%. That means that (I'm just using general numbers here) 208 million of the 319 in the US don't like Clinton and the same goes for Trump. If the votes are that bad, why are they winning?

And if you say that you have to work harder and are still better  than Republicans (once again enforcing the "white, rich Rebublican" sentiment, I get REALLY offended. Yes, I know, I know, it really is hard to be Asian becasue of the stereotypes. I get that.

But from someone who is a white, short, blonde girl, I get being underestimated. No one ever thinks I'm capable of anything. I'm at the point where I'm downright ashamed to be white, blonde, or a girl.

And you saying that you are automatically better because you're Asian proves eveerything  I said to be true.

I'm not Asian, so I can't have a high IQ. I'm not Asian, so I can't have any ounce of intelligence. I'm not Asian, so my dreams of going into Psychology and Astrophisics and Chemistry aren't able to happen. I'm a white girl, so my dream of being on Broadway could come true if I look pretty enough. I'm not Black so I can't be street smart. I'm white, so I must be lazy, racist and I must have a bad work ethic.

I'm blonde, which means I'm obsessed with my looks. I'm a girl, so I can't be strong. I'm not a feminist, so I can't belive in girl power. I'm not interested in boys, so I must be faking it to be more attractive, because I'm a blonde. White. Girl.

W'all gotta get rid of these labels. I know that I'm being selfish. I know I'm lucky to not have to deal with bulkying because of my race.

But veryone is affected by these things. We can't just ignore it. By getting rid of the labels, we will all be seen for our true potential. And that's what this work needs. Looking at individuals, not groups of people. Looking at something OTHER than skin color or voice or hair or background or gender or race.

We have to get rid of these labels.

Oh! Sorry! Did I make it seem that way…?

What I meant was that we have to work harder to get the same amount. Sorry about that.

But that's the thing. In school last year, since I was a blonde middle class white girl, I got no privileges. I was ignored, even though I really did need something a lot harder. The thing was, if you were anything that wasn't "white" you got attention. And it wasn't like they were bullied or anything.

I'm really sorry if I offend you or anything, but I have been bullied for the fact that I'm not Asian or whatever. BY Asian friends, whatever. But seeing the words "Asians" and "work harder" next to each other just continues the stereotypes that have been ingraind in me because I'm NOT them.

It's true that a smaller government is more efficient and spends less; However, they can't reach out as much, they can't help as many people, and they will be overworked!

They DON'T need our help and we CAN'T help them. Mexico is one of the most powerful countries in the world and we are BILLIONS of dollars IN DEPT. Having Mexicans come into America just means that we have a millions more mouths to feed. I used to think like you, but that was before my brother helped put me in the right direction. It's like having to feed a bunch of children that aren't yours and that you can't afford.

Mouths to feed? I'll have you know that we immigrants, INCLUDING Mexicans, have to work extremely hard to come and stay in America, and we work harder and contribute more than the "real" Americans. If you want a cleaning maid, hire a Mexican, she'll try harder than if you hire a "real" American. I can guarantee your house will be much cleaner.

Donald Trump said that for every immigrant, America has to feed them, pay them, and help them for 80 years. Nothing could be less true. We contribute all we can to America, and life is very hard for us. Yet, we are outsiders. We "steal" people's jobs. We are jokes. Bullied. Mistrusted.

I DON'T LIKE IT!!!!!!!!
