photography contest!
Pheasantwithbooks created a drawing contest, which made me nostalgic for this photography contest (which I believe was also created by pheasantwithbooks, i could be wrong though)
anyways, if you're new here, these are the rules-
~the judge gives out a theme each round and sets a deadline for the pictures to be in by
~the participants follow the theme and submit their pictures
~the judge ranks the pictures, sometimes giving them feedback
~whoever comes in 1st gets to be the next judge!
i'll be the first judge, and i'll start with a very generic theme, nature! pictures will be due on February 28th.
Have fun!
One more rule: ~no photos of people

I'm so sorry that I'm late, I've been busy with a robotics competition, and as I was typing this up, my computer died and I lost my work. It's late now, so I'm gonna do this tomorrow.Wall the submissions look great though!

I'm so sorry this is so very late, I've been very busy lately and I overestimated the amount of free time I would have when I set the judging date. But here are the results!
Fifth: Coroline! While I loved the photo, it quite fit the theme, since it didn't seem to be taken from up high. I did like the blue kit up building on the left, though, and it was a great picture.
Fourth: Moonlight! This was definitely taken from up high, and I loved how the clouds at the bottom seemed like they were floating on water. However, there wasn't a particular subject of this photo, which left it a little lacking.
Third: Barnswallow! I loved how centered the hill in the middle of the photo was, it was very pleasing to look at. I also liked how the sky faded from bright blue at the top to a yellowish blue at the horzon, but the whole photo seemed a little hazy, and I would have liked the buildings to be more in focus.
Second: Darkking! I loved the brilliant bright blue line at the horizon that faded into a darker blue at the top, and the swooping shadow across the bottom looked very cool. You followed the thirds rule pretty well, also.
First: Autumn Artist! I love everything about this photo. I love how the Thames cuts the photo in half, I like the clouds in the top left corner, I love the neat division of river and city. I like the bright green strip dividing the city and river, and I like the bridge and boats in the midground. The horizon is a little tilted, but overall it's a great photo. I
Also, my CAPTCHA says 'Fred's so I guess that's his name. Hi Ted!

Thank you, Hermione! And nice job to Coroline, Moonlight, Barnswallow, and Darkking. All of your photos were really great!
The new theme is "textures." It's pretty self explanatory. The deadline to submit your picture is May 3rd, next Friday
Good Luck!

You said that Darkking followed the thirds rule well, I was just wondering what the thirds rule is, thanks
(April 27, 2019 - 8:40 am)
I think it was the no people rule, as my photo had no people that are visible (we joke that there are hobbits in the hills since they look kinda like burrows).

The thirds rule is actually a rule that many professional photographers use. It's when everything in the picture is balanced. It's usually seen as a grid on your camera screen so you can center things. Hope this helps!

Captcha said 'bted', not fred, that's not important

Okay, I know I’m late, but here you are anyway! If you don’t accept late submissions, I’m completely fine being not counted.

I am actually changing the deadline since it was a couple weeks ago. I hope May 30th works for everyone!
