photography contest!
photography contest!
Pheasantwithbooks created a drawing contest, which made me nostalgic for this photography contest (which I believe was also created by pheasantwithbooks, i could be wrong though)
anyways, if you're new here, these are the rules-
~the judge gives out a theme each round and sets a deadline for the pictures to be in by
~the participants follow the theme and submit their pictures
~the judge ranks the pictures, sometimes giving them feedback
~whoever comes in 1st gets to be the next judge!
i'll be the first judge, and i'll start with a very generic theme, nature! pictures will be due on February 28th.
Have fun!
One more rule: ~no photos of people

RESULTS
Before I start, I just wanted to say that I love everyone's photos and hearing the story behind them! This was incredibly hard to judge, so I decided to just choose a winner. This means that the order I say your name in has no effect on whether you were 3rd or 6th or 2nd place. They are randomized.
Runners up:
Autumn Artist: I love Muir Woods too, so I really enjoyed this photo of it. :) The light shining through the leaves was especially pretty, and I love the way you captured that. The redwood trees are truly magical. It's amazing to think that they've been there for hundreds of years!
Moonlight: A cactus farm?? That's really cool! The sky in this photo is especially gorgeous. The tones of blue fading into each other has a really nice effect. I can see you took this photo from an angle (looking up), and I think that really emphasizes how tall and strong the saguaro cactus is.
HoodedMidnight: I loved hearing your story; that's really funny! I wonder what was happening at that school... The school looks truly mysterious. I have to say, the barren trees and deadish grass do give it a creepy vibe.
Leeli: It's really cool that you got to see a bridge that your ancestors built! The woods are really pretty, but for some reason, I really love the bright green moss of that rock. I also like how the woods are very dark and defined in contrast to the hazy background.
orangelemon: Horseflies are the worse!! I think they are the fastest flying insect. Anyway, my favourite part of this picture are the rays of light you can see falling out of the top corner. It really adds dimension to the background. That day at the beach sounded... interesting??
Twirlgirl: The waves in this photo are particularly nice! They look so playful! I also like how you capture the little swirls of seafoam on the water. Sunrise is my favourite time of day; that must have been really fun!
Dandelion: WOW. That's a really cool angle. Similar to Moonlight's, I love how the angle emphasizes the sheer height and majesty of the Statue of Liberty. Her hand reaching up to the sky is really beautiful. I love NYC, I'm so jealous! I hope it was really fun!
Coroline: This is a beautifully done photo. The drops on the window are so melancholy, and the colour scheme is mainly cool. My favourite part is the faint hint of a sunrise through the window. It gives off a hopeful vibe like the sun will come out soon. I hope the vacation was still good!
THE WINNER:
This was so hard to choose, but Agent Winter, the way you told a story through this photo really stood out to me. You said that Sunny was a very brave and loyal dog, and I think this photo really captures that. I can see he is striking a power-pose, and this angle makes him look very heroic. I also love the way the light emphasizes his face, and how he is facing towards the light. Congratulations! <3

Yay I won! *gives Sunny victory treats*
The next theme is water, and does April 16 work as a deadline for everyone?

This picture was from when I was on vacation in South Carolina and I learned how to surf! It was super cool! I found a perfect sea shell!

This is a picture I took in Glacier National Park at the beach behind our campsite

Here's a picture from when I was in London on vacation... The river in front is the river Thames.

Woah, cool! I love water. @Admins Is this too much people? If so, I will switch it out.
Yes, we draw the line, even though they aren't really recognizable. Thank you for asking.

I have so many good water photos, aah! It was hard to choose. I live in Maine, which is pretty much the water hotspot. (Or coldspot, whichever way you like it.) I took this photo at a little bit of rocky beach on Portland's East End.
