Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Triwizard Tournament RP!
I know there's...

I know there's already another HPRP going on, but this idea has been spinning around in my head for a while, and it's time to put it into action.

So this is somewhere between the time the Tournament started and the time 'the death toll mounted so high that they canceled it'. We're going to need to do a lot of inventing, since I don't think Rowling gives that much information on it. Time to get out the old copy of The Lexicon and try to look up anything related to it.

But anyway, this is before you had to be of age to enter, so you can be any age. Hogwarts is the host school since we know the most about it.

A downside is that we can only have three champions, but we can be friends, supporters, etc. We'll decide which school wins later.

Thanks. :) The last one's a little small and hard to see but oh well. So which one is your favorite??

I second the motion. When it comes to design, number one is my favorite, but I think cold colors suit Colette the best.

I like #1 too. I think it'll suit her best. I am planning for Erica to wear a long one-shoulder silver gown.

Hmm...I like the first or second one better! :)

I guess I'll just have Ann go with a Beauxabtons or Hogwarts guy, I dunno.

Okay. I've decided to take the first one but change the colors. The dress is going to be icy blue and the sash and thing that goes over her shoulder is going to be light blue/almost white.

Nice! I am going to change Erica to a Chaser, if thats ok with everyone.

Erica~

"Erica! Spara! I found ze dress for ze Yule Ball!" Colette yelled excitedly at us as she rushed down the hallway.

"Great." Spara mumbled dully. I couldn't blame her. Christmas vacation was in a week, and I still didn't have a date to the ball. Neither did she.

"Eet iz beautiful!" She squealed. "Eet iz bleu, one shoulder, wiz a white sash.."

Spara slammed down her plate suddenly. "I have to go study the riddle." She mumbled, and marched out of the Great Hall. Colette looked stunned. "vat did I say?" I shook my head. "It's not your fault. We're just... um, freaking out about the ball." Colette nodded knowingly. "I understand. If you need any 'elp finding a date, I'm sure I can get zome names..." I shook my head. "No.. it's fine. If you need me, I'll be up in the common room.

Correction. I'd be talking to the expert of experts of dates and boys in the common room.

"Oh come on Erica!" Elizabeth cried, flopping down on the sofa. "It can't be that hard to find you a date! I mean, look, you're smart, mostly nice, and not bad looking. All you have to do is bat your eyelashes and give one of those heartmelting smiles, and boom! You're good! That's exactly how I got my date!

I rolled my eyes. Elizabeth evtremely pretty, so it was no wonder she had gotten a date the first five minutes the ball was announced. She was going with some popular Durmstang guy named Hector who I would have to ask Spara about.

"Well.." I stopped to see a guy with curly black hair and blue eyes just like Elizabeth stop in front of me. "Hi girls." Elizabeths twin brother, Alec, said, flopping down on the seat opposite me. "Whatcha talking about?"

"Nothing!" I said too hurriedly. Though Alec was considered my brother-that-I-never-got, it would be way too wierd to talk to him about this kind of stuff.

"Oh." He said. "Well, thats cool, because me and some people were just about to go off to Hogsmead and hang out at the three broomsticks. Wanna come Erica?" That was the odd thing about Alec lately. Before, we only really hung out when we were at Elizabeths house or when we were fighting over who got the right answer on the test. I was smart, but he was scary smart. But lately, he had wanted me to go everywhere with him.. without Elizabeth.

"Uh... maybe later. I need to finish my chat with your genious sister here." I said. His face fell. "Oh... okay." When he left and I turned around, Elizabeth was smirking at me in a way that told me she knew something I didn't. "What? " I asked. She shook her head. "Nothing." Her eyes suddenly lit up. "Oh! I know the perfect person!" To my horror, she nodded over at David Tennerman, the guy I had liked since my second year. Seeker extrodinaire. Extremely cute. And had every girl in our year after him. He looked over at me and, to my suprise, gave me a large smile. "Since you won the first task, I've heard he's taken an extreme interest in you." "Who told you that?" "Alec." From her tone of voice, I got the feeling that Alec hadn't been pleased when he told her that. Hm. I shrugged. Suddenly, to my suprise, he sat next to me. David gave me a huge smile. "Hey Erica. I saw you at practice today. Nice dive." I gave a terrified smile. "Um... thanks?" He laughed. "So.. I was wondering, do you have a date to the ball yet?" My face went red. "Uh... no." He smiled. "So..wanna go?" I think I said sonething that passed for a yes, because he nodded. "Good. See you then!" And walked away. I couldn't believe it. I had a date!

//Ann//

"Ann! I can't believe you don't have a date or a dress! The ball is in one week, you're going to have no time left!" Colette skipped in front of me and walked backwards, lecturing me as we walked through the hallways. "I don't know, I'm not interested in anyone and no one's asked me!" We sit on the staircase and watch the students pass us. "What about him?" "He's shorter than me, and I got this really cute pair of heels, so I don't want to be taller than my date." "Him?" "Eh...no." "Seriously, you're so stubborn." A paper bird flutters down into my lap, and I unfold it."Ann, come to the ball with me? -Tony" I look across the hall, and a boy about 17 in green robes grinned at me. I smile and nod, and his friend pats him on the back. "Who's that, Ann?" "I don't know, really, but he seems nice enough." "Well, we need to get you a dress!" We run to the dungeons and sneak into Leila's luggage, picking out a dress for me.

Didn't really go anywhere, terrible writers block -.-

Colette-

Leila's suitcase was filled with dresses and a four pound bag of make-up.  It was insane but that's my sister. All she cares about is the way she looks.

"Looks like she has a huge variety of colors. What do you think?" I knelt next to the trunk and took out some of the first few dresses. "What about-" Yet Ann wasn't looking at the clothes in my hands, instead her eyes were fixed on something else. Something in the trunk.

"Look." She pointed at something and I turned around. In the bottom of the trunk was a sparkling green mass of cloth.

"Is that-" It was maman's dress. Why did Leila have maman's dress? Had maman sent it to her? I remembered that I'd only seen my mother in it once. It was skin tight but became less tight towards the bottom. It sparkled like the night sky. Next to it was a pair of shoes: small heels with a pretty green bow.

"What's wrong?" Ann wanted to know, staring at the dress as if in a trance.

"That's maman's."

"So?"

"Maman sent Leila a dress but didn't send me one. Do you think she hates me?"

"Non! Your maman doesn't hate you but I don't understand why she would send your sister that dress and not you."

I shrugged. "Maybe so that everyone looks at Leila and not at me." My sister had always been the favorite daughter. She was perfect in every way as maman liked to say.

"I think I know what we should do," Ann said matter-of-factly.

I really should have posted before now...

 Spara~

 It was the day before the ball. Colette and Ann were discussing something in the corner, while Erica and her friend Elizabeth were talking about the ball. As was everyone else, including Colette's friend Leila. With one of her friends, she had spent the last hour discussing her dress in microscopic detail. Now that she had finished,she had moved on to others'.

 Me? I was staring at the riddle, trying to find sence of it. Next to me was a copy of Feared Beasts of the World. There were several others below it, including The Monster Book of Monsters and Dreadful Denizens of the Deep.

"And I don't think that celadon suits Charlotte all that well..." Leila was whispering to her friends. I had no idea why she wasn't speaking French, perhaps to gloat over the rest of us.

"Perhaps..." I heard, and they resumed their whispering. That's it. I couldn't concentrate any longer.

"What. In. The. World. Is. Celadon." I nearly screamed, standing up.

"Shocking, isn't it, Leila?" one of her friends asked. "SOME PEOPLE don't even know that celadon is a shade of green!"

"Well, not everyone is as well informed," she said in what she probably considered a gracious tone.

I stood up and left the room. The ball was tomorrow, and it was time for desperate measures.

~~~
The room was full of people levitating each other, practicing jinxes, and doing who knows what else. As I entered, the fight continued. I neatly dodged a jelly-legs jinx (disarming someone in the process, just for fun) and got behind my bed, where the other girls werre talking shelter.
"Who hasn't got a date for the ball yet?" I asked Marie.
"Hm. Igor isn't..." I didn't listen any longer, but jumped onto my bed and yelled "Acio Igor!"
A boy with unusually light hair and skin zoomed out of the crowd and landed on the floor beside me with a thump. Looking up at me, he gasped.
 "The nerve of some people!" he exclaimed. "What, Spara?"
 "Can you come to the ball with me?"
 He looked even more annoyed. "Look, I wasn't even planning to go..." he muttered, going red. Everyone had stopped to watch it.
 "Please? I don't want to go either, but I have to since I'm champion. It's only for the first dance, then we won't even dance again."
 He looked doubtful.
 "I heard they have good food there," He perked up, listening. "And when Durmstrang wins the tournament, I'll be sure to mention you and say what a help you've been."
 "Alright. Just the one dance."
 "Okay, that's settled then." I called, and ran out the door. Behind me, I heard my class start laughing.
 ~~~

"Colette! Erica!" I yelled. "I got a date to the ball!"

 They turned around. "Really? Congratulations, who asked you?"

 I smirked. "I asked him," I replied, "After I Summoned him."

Colette-

I stared at Spara in utter shock. "You vat?"

"I summoned him. You know. Accio vatever."

"Spara, you know that a relationship like that won't work-" Erica began but Spara cut in.

"Oh. I don't really care... We'll dance and then it'll be over."

"You don't even care about... Love?"

She laughed. "Do you love Evan?"

"Vell... No."

She smirked. "See."

Erica sighed. "Spara, you do understand that you can't summon a person."

"Oh sure I can. I can even show-"

"Forget it." Erica took a crumpled pice of parchment from her pocket. "Let's keep talking about the riddle."

I groaned. "Not again."

*

The music from the great hall could be heard in the dungeons. Cold air filtered in through the open doors in the entry hall. Beauxbaton, Durmstrang and Hogwarts students bustled about. Ann and I stood before a mirror doing our hair and make-up.

"How about I braid your hair?" Ann asked me. She was already ready and she looked beautiful. She began braiding my long curls, then pinned them behind my head and let a few curls frame my face. My dress fit perfectly and my make-up matched the color of the dress - icy blue.

"Vere is my dwess?" My sister had taken to speaking English in the past few days.

Ann and I looked at each other. We were the only ones who knew where maman's dress was - in the lake.  Maybe it had been a little over the top to throw it in there yet Leila had been so horrible to me that I just had to do it.

"Come, Ann. Let's go." We walked up the stairs (which were packed with other Beauxbatons) and came to the great stair. Swarms of students were everywhere. Every girl had a dress on and every boy had a suit. I spotted Spara and Erica in a corner.

"Have you seen your dates yet?"

Spara snorted. "HE's probably too scared to come."

"'Ave you seen Evan?" My greatest fear was to go without a date.

Spara shrugged. "He's probably still combing his hair."

"(INSERT ERICA'S DATE'S NAME HERE) isn't here either."

"Zey'll be 'ere soon enough." Ann had already been whisked off by her date.

Erica~

Spara, Colette and I stood around for what seemed like forever. I looked at myself in the mirror one more time, just in case. My dress was a shiny silver, with sparkly heels to match. My mother had forgiven me about the whole daily prophet thing, and had even sent me her bracelet and earrings that changed color to match your outfit. I had pinned my hair up with a silver clip with a blue gem in the middle. Elizabeth had done my makeup, and as far as I was concerned, I actually looked all right. Spara and Colette both looked amazing, with Colette in her blue dress and Spara in her (INSERT COLOR HERE) dress.

Evan showed up first. I had to say he looked incredibly handsome, and apparently Colette thought so too, because she went a bright red. "'Ello Colette," Evan said, and offered his arm. Colette went even redder. "Um... hi." Spara and I tried incredibly hard not to burst out laughing. It was our first time seeing Colette so shy and nervous. "See you later," she called, and swished away into the Great Hall.

"They vill have fun," Spara said confidently. I nodded. "I'm glad you're okay with them going together." Spara smiled. "Evan and I are friends. I'm happy he has met a great girl." She suddenly looked up. "Ugh. Here he comes." A pale boy came nervously up to Spara. "Um...."

"Let's just get this over vith," Spara muttered, and looked over at me. "If you need me, I'll probably be sitting over at the refreshment table." I nodded. "See you later."

Finally, after what seemed like ages, David showed up. "You look nice," he said, offering his arm. "Thanks. You too," I said, smiling at him. We walked into the Great Hall with everyone staring at us. Colette stood up front, with Spara behind her. Colette looked over at me and winked. I rolled my eyes and mouthed shut up

Soon, the music started to roll. David put his hand on my waist and guided me around the room. Colette was a perfect dancer, and was giggling at one of Evans jokes. Spara just looked miserable.

Soon, the music was over, and everyone clapped politely. I turned to David. "I'm going to get something to drink," I said. He nodded, and drifted off. Spara wasn't over at the refreshment table yet. I grabbed a pumpkin juice and went back to the spot where David was. For some reason, he wasn't there.

Suddenly Jason, Elizabeth's date, tapped my shoulder. "Have you seen Elizabeth?" I shook my head. "Have you seen David?" He shook his head. "Nope," I shrugged. "I'll go look for them."

I walked into the courtyard, which wasn't that crowded yet. I knew it would be later when the couples got tired of the music. After looking for a while, I gave up, turned towards a pillar that lead into the great hall, and gasped.

There was David. Busily kissing Elizabeth.

Hot, angry rage welled up inside of me. But instead of hexing them to fall into the ground or something, I marched by them, without them even noticing. Taking slow, deep breaths, I went over to the refreshment table and saw Spara looking boredly out the window. She looked up in suprise. "Vere's your date?" I plopped down next to her and snatched a cauldron cake. "He had other engagements. With extremely pretty supposedly best friends." Spara looked shocked. "Colette?" I shook my head. "If it was Colette, I might actually be able to forgive that, since she hasn't crossed the line with me before. No, Elizabeth." Spara gave me a pitying look. "I'm sorry Erica." I shrugged. "It's not him that makes me mad. I didn't really like him anyway. It's her . One minute she's my friend, the next she's backstabbing me. And David isn't that great anyway." Spara shrugged. "Vell, that's how it works sometimes. You have Colette and me, at least." I smiled and nodded. "Yeah. True."

Colette-

Evan is one of the most handsome boys I’ve ever seen. He held his arm out and I lightly placed my hand upon it like I’d learned in etiquette class. We wanted to enter the Great Hall yet a professor dressed in a black dress, which seemed to be for a funeral, stopped us.

“Miss Colette, Mr. Evan. You must wait here until everyone else is in the Great Hall. Where are the others?” She spotted Spara and Erica and their dates and rushed off to tell them what to do. About ten minutes later, violins started to play, our cue. I smiled at Evan before we began to slowly walk into the Hall.

Icicles hung everywhere and snow fell from the ceiling. Everything glistened in a bluish light, similar to the color of my dress. An orchestra was next to the dance floor and behind them was a huge Christmas tree.

I heard sighs, whispers and whistles as we passed the students. Leila was nowhere to be seen. Ann waved at me happily and pointed at her date, a handsome Hogwarts student.

After we’d reached the dance floor, the music stopped. Evan laid his hand on my waist and gave me his hand. Then a waltz started. We swirled and twirled around the floor. He raised me into the air and students gasped however he didn’t drop me. Soon others joined us. The orchestra started a new song. I noticed Spara rushing off to the refreshment table; her date was gone.

It was only after one of the slower songs started that Evan said something.

“Have you noticed that they’re all staring at us?”

I lifted up the skirt of my dress, studying it. “Is there somezing wrong viz my dwess?”

He laughed lightly. “No. You’re perfect. But look at them.” He pointed at a couple next to us. The girl was gazing at Evan and the boy was staring at me, both not caring that they were stepping on each other’s toes.

“Do you want to go outside?”

“Von’t it be cold?”

“You can have my jacket.”

I nodded. He took my hand and led me out the doors. As we made our way outside we passed a kissing couple.

Snow covered everything. The great lake was covered in ice. A few pairs roamed around the grounds.

Evan handed me his thick fur coat, then laid his arm around my shoulders. Our feet crunched in the snow.

“Aren’t you cold?” I asked after we’d walked for a bit.

Evan’s breath made a small cloud in the air. “No, it’s much colder in Bulgaria.”

“Do you valk around vizout a jacket zere too?”

“Of course not! I would freeze to death.”

“Are you not freezing now?”

“Oh. Just a little.” He winked. Suddenly before I could say a word he kissed me. Just like that. I wasn’t ready for it and I wasn’t sure if I loved him. I thought we’d just been friends. After a few seconds he stopped and took note of my shocked face.

“Oh I thought… I mean… I-“ He stuttered. In the moonlight I could see his cheeks turn red.

“It’s okay.” I kissed him. “Let’s get some refreshments.”

Spara and Erica were standing there both talking, both seeming angry. I felt a little out of place because I was so happy and they weren’t.

“Vat ‘appened? Vy do you boz look so sad?” I asked. Evan stood a few feet away, busily studying the different drinks and food.

“And why do you look so happy?” Erica demanded.

“Oh nozing.”

“You just turned red, Colette. Did Evan kiss you?”

I couldn’t help from smiling. “’e did!”

Spara rolled her eyes. “Oh joy,” she said sarcastically.

Erica seemed more enthusiastic. “How sweet! You’re lucky! David’s over there kissing some-“

All of a sudden rock music started so I couldn’t hear the end of her sentence.

I sort of like it better if Elizabeth's evil but it's your choice, Gigi...

Spara Petrova~

Ugh. I was happy for Evan and Colette, but there has been way too much kissing tonight than I even thought possible. I guess that's the downside to being a champion -- you had to go to the ball. All the other people in my group who felt the way I did could just stay home, but I had to waste fifteen minutes of my precious life 'dancing' with Igor what's-his-face.

"I am going to get some fresh air. As in, I'm not going to walk around with my date, who is currently dancing happily with a Hogwarts girl crazy enough to survive that ordeal,but I'm actually going to walk. Take a walk. In the fresh air." With that, I stood up, pulled on a coat, and marched out the door.

 After walking (and dodging a few happy couples) I found an empty stretch of wall. I amused myself for a while by shooting jinxes at it, though it wasn't as much fun as hexing a real person.

I suddenly missed the cold winter evenings in Durmstrang, when we'd duel in the common room, or discuss (read: complain about) our least favorite teachers in the girls' dormitory. My best friend was off dancing, my other best friend was dancing with him, and another best friend was experiencing a betrayal.

I then heard the crunch of snow behind me, and wheeled around. A boy from Hogwarts was standing there, watching me. He attempted to duck into the bushes, but I yelled, "Impedimenta!" He was blasted off his feet and as he struggled,I came toward him.

 "Vy vere you spying on me?" I asked.

 "So it's true," he muttered, standing up. "Durmstrangs hex whoever they meet."

 I raised my eyebrows. "Not really."

 "What were you doing, anyway?"

 "Practicing," I replied. "Do you vont to duel?"

He backed away quickly. "No way! That's not... That isn't...".

 "Yeah, votever." I turned away and spent the rest of the night practicing spells.
