Music Club

So for my CBversary a few people said they wanted to do this. I am working on a Little Lost Library revival but that will probably take a while. In the meantime, here's the music club!

This is for anyone who loves music and wants to discover new artists. To join, just comment saying you want to join. Next Friday, we'll start rotating, starting with me and then in order of who commented. Anyone can join the rotation at any time! If you comment saying you want to join, you'll be added to the end of the rotation.

The way it will work is each week, the next person in the rotation picks an album to reccomend, and everyone listens to it. Once you've listened to the album, say a little about what you thought of it! Doesn't have to be too much, just something like, "I enjoyed it" or "It wasn't really for me" and maybe something like "___ was my favorite song" or whatever.

I think that's it! We'll start on the 26th :D

omg i totally forgot about this helpp!

okay i'm going to choose the album sunburn by dominic fike. it's like a mix of indie rock, alternative, and hip hop and r&b. i've been really into it recently. my favorite songs are pasture child, dancing in the courthouse, and think fast.

let me know what you think :)

well, i went in completely unsure about what id think about this album, and i ended up really liking it, actually! it was sort of a godsend, because ive been trying really hard to get into music that isn't my usual indie and folk wasteland! hip hop has been one way ive been trying to do that, and ive gotten really into clipping. but beyond that...

well, i thought this was a great album! the blend of indie and hip hop doesn't seem like an intuitive fit, but it absolutely works! it kind of feels like, to borrow the parlance of a friend, "Elliott Smith if he could rap," and that is absolutely meant as a compliment. Solid 8.5/10.

my favorite song was Mama's Boy,  and i will definitely listen to this album again! my deep distrust of singles, or i guess songs written with the desire to be sold as singles, made some of the songs sort of grate on me. that's my only criticism, and it's literally just because i share headspace with an annoying hipster. good album!

it took me a few songs to get into it, but I liked the album a lot too! reminded me a little of RKS but that's probably wrong because I've only heard like three songs by them lol. my favorite songs were Mona Lisa, Pasture Child, and 4x4. cool album!

Not really my kind of music, but I still enjoyed it. My favourite song was Mona Lisa, and I'd rate it a 6/10 :) Thanks for the recommendation anastasia!

I really liked this album! I think "How Much?" and "Mona Lisa" were my favorites. 8/10 overall and I'll be listening to it again.

To be honest, I didn't really enjoy it all that much. I think my favorite song was Mona Lisa, and I'd give it maybe a 5.5/10 Thanks for suggesting it anyway!

can i still join? i'm so glad you guys are reviving this!!

i just finished listening to Sunburn, and while it's not quite my kind of music, i still liked it! i really liked the blend of indie and hip hop - i feel like it gives off a warm, summery vibe? my favorite songs were 4x4, Pasture Child, and Dancing in the Courthouse, but i pretty much liked all of them! i'll probably be listening again, especially during the warmer months (which we still have a couple more of where i live, tbh). anyway, solid 7.5/10!

I honestly didn't like it too much (for me, rap and rap-esque things are a bit aggressive-feeling), but I can see how it'd be nice.

i really enjoyed this album! i thought the genre-blending was awesome and the vibes are just overall great. my favorite song i think is dancing in the courthouse, i liked ant pile and sunburn a lot as well, and i thought mama's boy was especially interesting both lyric and music wise. definitely will be listening again!!
