Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Poetry Contest

Poetry Contest

Well, we haven't had one of these in a while, have we? Time for a new one, I say! Welcome, resident poets!

The rules are pretty simple. I am the first judge. I will give you a theme, and you must write a poem relating to the theme. Be creative with your interpretations! I will then judge the entries by a set date, and the winner will then be the next judge, and set the next theme. And so on, and so forth.

The first theme will be... *dramatic drumroll*

Stars! Whether you chose to write about the kind of stars you wish on, or the kind that take the stage, I will be eagerly awaiting your sparkly, shiny, beautiful poems. Have them in by... Saturday, March 18. Two weeks. Sound fair?

I hope to see your poems soon!

Can anyone enter who wasn't here before? Well, if so, I'm entering. This poem is about the rainbow because it's one of my favorite things, but really my favorite color is blue. Just saying. XD

Love In Full Color

I dip my finger

In a pool of dark black ink

Smiling,

I swipe it

Across the sheet of paper.

It reminds me of midnight,

Tiny pricks of stars escaping the moon’s

Tight grasp.

I wipe my finger,

Curl it thickly

Gathering a pool of deep sea blue

In my palm.

It reminds me of the ocean,

The crashing, fiery waves

Singing through the storm.

Life forms when the rain falls,

Birds fly free,

Spiraling, swooping, cajoling

In the sky.

The green of the rambling forests in my mind

Is dark,

Deep,

Soft and comforting.

A simple bed of moss is all I need,

Soothing my tired body

Whispering me gently to sleep.

The earth calls me,

Then,

And I tumble

Stopping only for a moment to touch

The soft grey of the rocks,

The soothing, rich red-brown

Of the soil

Sprouting life.

Soon

I am engulfed

Within the burning mass of light and warmth that is the core

Of all we know,

Surging and sweeping

Red

Through the center of the earth,

And most of all, the yellow sun.

Drawing us near,

Feeding us with her life.

Then the orange planets,

Spinning endlessly,

Constant rhythm

Never changing.

Suddenly,

I am blasted through the lush white clouds

The atmosphere surrounds me

I am comforted, reminded of home

Soft feathers

As I land on the back of a beautiful bird

The deep purple down

Soft, warm

Fills me with contentment

I think of food,

Family,

Laughter,

And I see below

A magnificent bed of roses,

Lush,

Pink,

Fat petals flying as I fall

Catch me

Tangle in my hair

Slip me gently down

And I am standing on a

Rainbow.

I am peacefully reminded

That of all the things in the world,

Perhaps the most beautiful

Is a rainbow.

Smiling down,

When rain and sunshine mingle,

Love,

She comes,

And that is why a rainbow stands for love.

Reminding us

Each day

That if ever we are unsure,

Unhappy,

Unsatisfied,

Unwelcomed,

We have something

To wrap us in her warm embrace,

Knowing

It will all be all right,

That everyone,

No matter what,

Is someone’s favorite.

Hoi! I'm still here! Anywho, poem.

Untitled

Whenever people hear that I'm a bookworm,

they always ask me;

'What's your favorite book?'

I will never understand that.

There are so many wonderful amazing books out there,

how can they expect someone who loves books

to pick a favorite one? One that they think

is the best, better than all the others?

Especially since there are so many books

that they haven't read yet, and will never get to

read. And all books are good,

amazing even, in their own way.

So how can I be expected to choose

ONE?

One that is better than all others.

It's the same with colors.

Out of the entire spectrum,

how can you chose one?

Especially since there are so many variations

of one color, so many colors that have been left

unnamed, because

because.....

Well I don't know why.

But the point is, no one thing

can be the best in every way.

There is no best song

no best book

no best color

no best person or race.

So why must one be expected to choose?

Why?

I don't know, and probably never will,

but that won't stop me from asking.

~~~~~~
I don't really know exactly what this was about, which is a bit unnerving, seeing as I wrote it.
