In its dying moments, SOCS merged with BIG, despite the fact that they'd been enemies for a time. BIG's cadet academy had already been established, but suddenly BIG had a bunch of experiments left over from SOCS. BIG wasn't so evil to keep up something so unethical as experimentation on live subjects… but these were the leftovers. The war is getting long, hard. They're starting to justify the use of experiments in hopes of creating stronger, genetically enhanced soldiers.
Meanwhile, BIG Cadet Academy for the Valiant is accepting more and more students at an alarming rate. Feeding children as young as eleven propaganda, teaching them to fight, and then placing them on the battlefield or into labs as soon as they come of age, it seems as though BIG is getting more desperate (and ruthless) than ever before…

Here is the recreated (and hopefully better) version of the original boarding school roleplay. The very basic story is summarized above, but I'll put it in clearer terms. The story is that now that SOCS, a very evil group of scientists who used to experiment on live beings, has been destroyed, BIG has been left with their experiments. At first, they were only using the leftovers, but they have now grown so desperate for power in the war that they are creating more experiments in an effort to make stronger soldiers. BIG also has a boarding school for students (BIG Cadet Academy for the Valiant or BCAftV) who will either fight or do science for them when they graduate. Mostly students learn propaganda about BIG, science, and combat skills, although all of the core classes are more or less there. At the academy, there is a lab. Some experiments are living in the lab for the students to use as test subjects in their lessons. But when a group of students becomes aware of these experiments plot for escape, they have to decide if they want to help or not. This roleplay will be about the days leading up to a small rebellion from students and experiments at BIG. If you have a half-baked, undeveloped idea for a character, don't worry because this is a perfect place for character development!
Your character can be a student or an experiment. While there is no limited number of characters, we ask that there only be up to eight experiments right now for smoothness and believability. Please consider if you will have time to commit to this roleplay before you join, especially if you're making an experiment character. Two of my characters are experiments, which leaves six experiment slots left as of right now. You don't need to have been in the old roleplay to join this one! If you were in the original roleplay, you can keep your character or make a new one. I'm also going to give you first dibs on experiment slots if you already had an experiment character for the next few days; that only seems fair.

Avi smiled warmly. "I would," he said softly.
"Great, then I'll be back tomorrow." Rel smiled too. "Enjoy the afternoon."
Then he and Leskie went over to the lab teacher to hand in their notes. Relven did have a few, luckily, and Mx. Frost nodded as he took them. "It was great working with you," Rel said casually to Leskie as they parted at the door.
He hoped that he had imagined Mx. Frost watching him as he left the room.

Aerona scoffed. "It would take a short time, you said. It's been, like, forever." She was really not having it with these people. They were weird.
Her brain continued to buzz on and off. Send help, she tapped out on the glass, thunking her tail. I'm bored. Within a few seconds, the door blasted open.
"What are you doing to Aerona."
It wasn't a question. It was more of a statement. Alistair had busted open the door and was standing there in all her dripping glory (after all, she had just gotten out of the tank..)

"It was great working with you," Relven said casually to Leskie as they parted at the door.
"Same for you," Leskie replied with a smile, before turning down the hall and heading to her next class, which wasn't that far, and was writing and comprehension.
She stepped into the classroom, which was fairly empty since she arrived early. Ms. Adair, a relatively young and new teacher, was sitting behind her desk, a pile of papers next to her. Leskie sat quietly at a random desk and waited for students to arrive.

So I assume the next possible classes after science lab are math, archery, and writing and comprehension? (Also any charrie can talk to Leskie!)

"Great, then I'll be back tomorrow." Relven smiled back and Avi felt the tips of his pointy ears get warm. "Enjoy the afternoon."
Leskie and Relven walked out and Avi watched them as they handed some papers to the teacher. He stood there awkwardly as they left the room and turned the corner. He watched them until he couldn't see them anymore, and continued staring into space. His heart ached with wishes. Wishing he wasn't trapped here. Wishing Relven liked him back. Wishing he could spend time with his friends outside. Wishing all of it was possible.
Avi snapped out of his wistful reverie and left the room, looking for Zinnie. He went over and said, "I have so much to tell you."

Cress raised an eyebrow at the new experiment. "More like what did we do to her. It's done now. The effects won't last long and should be completely painless. If there's any discomfort, alert Mx. Frost. Or send for me."
She turned to Adine. "We should be going now. I'll give our notes to Mx. Frost. Bye."

Colin headed out the door to archery. The only good thing about archery was that Tyra was there; that was the only real reason he didn't spend every second wishing it was over. He frowned as he picked up a crossbow. At least math was next…

As the students left, Zinnia left and headed back to the room where the experiments slept. Via sat next to them on her cot, admiring their rainbow wings. Avi ran up to them. "I have so much to tell you."
Zinnia was surprised. "Really? What happened?"

@Peri, Rel and Colin totally don't have to talk if you don't want (and they also can, ofc); Rel is just saying hi, though it can turn into a conversation :)

"Bye," Adine said. "See you later." Though they'd be in different classes for the next period at least, since Adine had writing and comprehension and Cress, as everyone knew, was finally going to her archery. Both of them going classes they loved, which was probably best. Adine slipped past the experiment in the doorway - wasn't it Alistair? - with a quick, "Aerona should be fine," and left the lab. Thank goodness that was over. She could feel her spirits lift as she ran for the next classroom and chose a seat there.

Rel wandered outside to the archery fields, his thoughts swirling. He had never been one of the students who looked at the experiments as mere objects or inferior beings, and he'd always tried to be kind to them, but he'd never had a discussion with one of them as he had just had with Avi. He wanted to help Avi, to be friends with him, to erase that longing look in his eyes. Obviously it was wrong to keep him here as a mere experiment, but that was the way the BCA worked, and how could it be wrong?
He reached the archery field, where Colin was already hanging about. "Hey," Rel greeted him. "Looking for a way to disappear without anyone noticing?"

Lee got to math just in the nick of the time and sat down, pulling out her binder and thumbing through all the papers she'd stuffed inside. Finally finding her homework from the night before, she handed it to Mr. Moore. I really have to organize my binder, she thought for the one millionth time.

Zia left lab, heading to the archery range. Ms. Fonder, the archery teacher, was already there with some students, correcting their posture or helping them string their bows. The range was set up in a semicircle, so that there were varying distances if you wanted to try something harder or easier. Today, Ms. Fonder had pinned an apple to the middle of each target. Instead of shooting for the target, the students would aim for the small and just barely noticeable stem of the apple. Zaria sighed. She knew she would never be able to hit that stem. Who did Ms. Fonder think she was? Only Crescent Auclair, star of the class, had a sure chance of hitting this target. Nonetheless, Zia took up her bow, and aimed...
I don't think anyone's introduced an archery teacher yet?? So, if not, this is Ms. Fonder, she/her pronouns :)

A student who Leskie recalled was Adine sat nearby. Leskie took out her notebook and pencil, quickly writing down the notes Ms. Adair had on the board, which was something about writing a graphic organizer for an essay about BIG's contributions to the world. Typical. And just as typically, Ms. Adair was extremely excited and eager to talk about it.
"Hi," Leskie said to Adine.

Aly smiled bright all the way as she went over to archery class, her favorite class. Ms. Fonder had placed apples on the targets for this time's exercise. Aly loved a new challenge.
She grabbed her bow and arrows, taking her place along with the other students. To a random student, she said, "Hey there! What do you think of archery and today's exercise?"

sorry but i'm not quite sure what to do now... @periwinkle, should Altair/Castor and Zinnia interact at some point? How should Spiderwort fit in? he could do something mildly interesting? idk sorry. if anyone else is interested in interacting with either of them that'd be great too.

Zinnia's eyes widened. "Really? What happened?" They asked, leaning in.
Avi motioned over to a corner where they could have a semi private conversation. He always shared whatever gossip he had with Zinnie; they were his best friend.
"My partners are so great. They let me look at my file and even offered to throw a birthday party for me." Avi went on, talking quick and excitedly. He tried to skirt the majority of his feelings for Relven, but Zinnie probably knew him too well. He finished by saying, "they're coming back tomorrow. I know I'm happy, and that I shouldn't let my guard down, but they're just the first people besides you of course who's treated me like I'm someone. Like I matter."
Avi looked into Zinnie's eyes, hoping they'd understand. "What about you? Tell me everything?"

The classroom was still fairly empty, but another girl was there, and Adine spared a glance for her. It was Leskie. The teacher, Ms. Adair, was writing out tips for the essay they were supposed to write. Leskie looked across at Adine. "Hi."
Adine looked back and smiled. "Hi. Leskie, right?"

@Bobcat sorry I didn't see this uh I'm sending Via over to Castor (I'm calling him Castor in this but you can lmk if it changes) and Spiderwort can rp at any of the classes (archery, math, or writing) with anybody. Just have him settle into the class and then choose a character who's also in that class for him to interact with
@All: Zinnia's starting to form a small plan for escape. After today, would we like to do a timeskip to, say, maybe a few weeks later, when Zinnia and the other experiments have developed a proper plan, and have the students find out? Maybe Rel and/or Leskie could sneak down to visit Avi (ooh maybe for his birthday) and overhear the experiments planning. Rel and Leskie can choose to side with the experiments or the school, and gradually the other students can start to find out (maybe Rel mentions it to Colin and another student overhears and passes it along, or maybe Rel/Leskie brought friends with them to meet Avi, ect.) these are all just ideas though and it could totally happen differently! What do you all think?

Zinnia listened as Avi described his great experience with the students and Via wandered off. "Huh," they said. "Well, that's great, Avi."
"What about you? Tell me everything."
Zinnia tried a smile. "They talked about me like I wasn't there and they touched my wings. So. Not a great experience." Their wings twitched a bit; they were still rainbow, but the colors were fading. "We shouldn't really let our guards down, but if we could win some students over, get them to help us and not the school…" The gears in their brain started turning. The plan in the back of their mind, the one that had been there ever since they'd decided they were getting Via out of this terrible place, suddenly had the tiniest flicker of hope to hang on to.
"We could get out of here," Zinnia said quietly. They looked up at Avi. "Via could have a normal childhood. We could…" They pauses as they realized: "We could do whatever we want. We'd be free."

Via walked over to Castor. "Hi Castor," she said. "Zinnia and Avi are being very boring. Zinnia has rainbow wings now. Look, Spiderwort drew me a picture! Spiderwort is really nice. I think Colin's nice to, but Zinnia doesn't trust him as much as they trust Spiderwort. How's your day going? Want to go look out the window together? Sometimes birds fly by and I like to look at them."

"Why, do you have one?" Colin replied with sarcastic hopefulness. "Lucky for me, there's only one other combat class after this." Students had to take both combat and academic classes, but their schedules focused around their skills. Since Colin was great at science and would almost definitely be working as a scientist for BIG, not on the battlefield, his schedule mainly revolved around science and math classes. So today he only had to worry about archery; then he was good.
"How was lab?" Colin asked.

hmm it seems the admins edited my comment. Since it now doesn't make sense I will say the other combat class he has is sword fighting (with safe wooden swords) rather than the one I had originally picked
