BIG Cadet Academy for the Valiant
In its dying moments, SOCS merged with BIG, despite the fact that they'd been enemies for a time. BIG's cadet academy had already been established, but suddenly BIG had a bunch of experiments left over from SOCS. BIG wasn't so evil to keep up something so unethical as experimentation on live subjects… but these were the leftovers. The war is getting long, hard. They're starting to justify the use of experiments in hopes of creating stronger, genetically enhanced soldiers.
Meanwhile, BIG Cadet Academy for the Valiant is accepting more and more students at an alarming rate. Feeding children as young as eleven propaganda, teaching them to fight, and then placing them on the battlefield or into labs as soon as they come of age, it seems as though BIG is getting more desperate (and ruthless) than ever before…

Here is the recreated (and hopefully better) version of the original boarding school roleplay. The very basic story is summarized above, but I'll put it in clearer terms. The story is that now that SOCS, a very evil group of scientists who used to experiment on live beings, has been destroyed, BIG has been left with their experiments. At first, they were only using the leftovers, but they have now grown so desperate for power in the war that they are creating more experiments in an effort to make stronger soldiers. BIG also has a boarding school for students (BIG Cadet Academy for the Valiant or BCAftV) who will either fight or do science for them when they graduate. Mostly students learn propaganda about BIG, science, and combat skills, although all of the core classes are more or less there. At the academy, there is a lab. Some experiments are living in the lab for the students to use as test subjects in their lessons. But when a group of students becomes aware of these experiments plot for escape, they have to decide if they want to help or not. This roleplay will be about the days leading up to a small rebellion from students and experiments at BIG. If you have a half-baked, undeveloped idea for a character, don't worry because this is a perfect place for character development!
Your character can be a student or an experiment. While there is no limited number of characters, we ask that there only be up to eight experiments right now for smoothness and believability. Please consider if you will have time to commit to this roleplay before you join, especially if you're making an experiment character. Two of my characters are experiments, which leaves six experiment slots left as of right now. You don't need to have been in the old roleplay to join this one! If you were in the original roleplay, you can keep your character or make a new one. I'm also going to give you first dibs on experiment slots if you already had an experiment character for the next few days; that only seems fair.

"Hey Leskie. Long time no see," Avi said, and was about to say something else before Relven came in.
"Hey, how's it going?" he asked Avi.
Leskie went to get their notebooks for observations, smiling a bit to herself as Avi replied. When she turned back, Avi asked both of them, "How about you?"
"It's been fine," Leskie replied. "I heard the Spring Dance is coming up."

The rest of the day went by smoothly, with nothing particular to comment on. The next morning, after first period, she headed over to science early, going over to Experiment 235 while reading the whiteboard. Soon, Kathleen arrived, which made Aly smile immediately for some reason.
"Hello!!" Lee greeted, waving. "Since our experiment wasn't really one we can observe on again, what do you think we should do instead? Maybe brainstorm other ways -- besides camouflage -- the color changing can help BIG?"
"That sounds good," Aly replied. "What are your ideas?"

"Can't complain, Golden boy! Not when I live here," Avi replied, with a touch of bitterness, motioning to the lab. Relven glanced around, and for just one second it was like he was seeing it from an utterly different perspective. This isn't fair. He glanced hastily back at Avi. "How about you?" Avi added, to both him and Leskie, who had been lingering in the background.
"It's been fine," Leskie said. "I heard the Spring Dance is coming up."
"Oh, of course, the Spring Dance," Rel said. "The talk of the school." He glanced at Avi; he was starting to feel that Avi acted slightly differently around him, and he wasn't sure why. "I was thinking of skipping it. Oh, and Avi... I brought this. Early birthday present, or whatever." Being careful to keep his movements concealed from the other students and the teacher, he slipped a small bag of cookies out of his pocket; he had gotten it last afternoon.

When Adine came into lab the next day, Cress came up to her. "Would you like to be partners again?" she asked, still a bit bossily but not too much so.
"Sounds good," Adine said. She glanced at the whiteboard. "Apparently we're supposed to check on Aerona - or Experiment whatever. So... I imagine we should do that." She glanced around the room, at the students pairing up and finding their experiments. Why did everyone seem to enjoy lab so much?

"Oh, of course, the Spring Dance," Relven said, tone measured and even. "The talk of the school." He looked at Avi, and Avi looked away, pulse quickening. He really couldn't tell what was going through Relven's head in that moment.
But it passed quickly, and with little awkwardness. Relven continued, "I was thinking of skipping it," he tossed out nonchalantly. "Oh, and Avi... I brought this. Early birthday present, or whatever." He held out a small clear bag containing something tan-ish and circular.
"Oh! Wow, Relven... I... I don't know what to say. Thanks." Avi had no clue what it was; it looked like something he could eat? But it was an amazingly nice gesture and Avi was touched. "This is literally the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me." He smiled at Relven.
"Um, anyway." Avi looked away, flustered and tapped his leg. "Um, Spring Dance! Yes. Are you planning to ask anyone, Leskie?"

"My-my ideas?" she said. "Oh, yeah! Umm... what about... if... OOOH!! Maybe BIG soldiers can use the color changing to subtly send messages to other soldiers; for instance, attack from behind is red, charging is blue, etc.! But if so, then we'd have to do a bit more experimenting to be able to color change faster... Uh," she paused briefly, glancing at Aly. "That is, if you'd like to continue working on this together. Do you have any ideas?"
"That's a really good idea! Maybe we could make it more subtle somehow?" Aly suggested. She paused for a moment, thinking about how pretty Lee was for some reason. "Ah, or maybe it could be used as camouflage?"

"Oh! Wow, Relven... I... I don't know what to say. Thanks. This is literally the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me." Avi smiled at Relven. "Um, anyway." He looked flustered, and tapped his leg. "Um, Spring Dance! Yes. Are you planning to ask anyone, Leskie?"
"Not really," she said. "I might just go alone. So...should we do the assignment?"

"Sounds good," said Adine. "Apparently we're supposed to check on Aerona - or Experiment whatever. So... I imagine we should do that."
"Experiment AA-573," said Cress. She glanced around carefully. "They're not supposed to have names," she said, lowering her voice. "It's better for everyone if we don't use them. We don't need perfectly well behaved experiments getting in trouble for such trivial reasons. That would hardly be fair to them."
Cress could understand why she might sound cold, especially to someone like Adine. It was respectful to use a person's name, and respect meant something to Cress. But she knew if a teacher overheard them being called names rather than numbers, they may get in trouble. It was an act of defiance for the experiments to have names, and it was an act of defiance from the students to use them. Not that Cress would really defy BIG, of course. They'd been good to her; they were her makeshift family. But had it not meant potentially risking the safety of the experiments, she might use their names. Unfortunately, respecting the experiments meant protecting them, and that meant using their numbers. Cress frowned. Her belief system was a complicated one, and she didn't like to have it tested. She wondered when lab would be over.

Colin looked up to see Spiderwort. "Spiderwort!" He said, waving until Spiderwort looked over. "We're over here. Come over when you're ready!" He figured Spiderwort may want to pass around some tea for the experiments first, and wanted to let him know he was okay with it.
Mx. Frost looked surprised, but didn't say anything. Colin smiled for the first time that morning.

@Peri - Thanks! could we continue the Via and Altair thing? Or do another? i'm not sure if that's still going because of the timeskip. if not that's fine. Also if you want to edit Zinnia’s reaction please do so, you don’t have to though.
@all - every experiment gets cookies even if i didn’t mention Spiderwort interacting with them btw, but would anyone's student to work with Altair?

Colin says he’s okay with Spiderwort passing some teas around. That shocks Spiderwort. he would have done it anyway, of course. What else would he do with all the teas he made? But explicit permission is not something he’s used to. He’s not sure if it’s nice or threatening. What it would be threatening to he doesn’t know.
He’s more excited than usual this time - usually he cares more about making the teas than handing them out. But today, he also made cookies. Lavender shortbread. He usually has trouble cooking, but last night an obsession grabbed hold of him. They turned out pretty good.
Other than that, his calendula salve for the clawed experiment doesn’t seem to be working well enough. She appears to be in more pain today; maybe he’ll add some yarrow or rosemary tomorrow.
He steps hesitantly over to Zinnia, standing far away from them. He made them a different tea this time. Will they be angry? If someone did that to him, he'd panic. “Er - it’s - different. S-sorry.”
Zinnia nods slowly. “What is it?”
“Thyme, chamomile, peppermint. Honey.”
“Well - that’s fine. You’re not supposed to bring us anything anyway -”
Spiderwort cuts them off. “Extra honey.” Certainly too much for him. He also hands them some rosehip and hibiscus tea for Via. He isn’t quite sure what she likes.
Avi gets two separate cups: peppermint and lemon balm. He appears suspicious of the cookie. “If this poisons me my ghost is becoming a lawyer and pressing charges.”
From somewhere else, Altair shouts out: “I’m already a ghost, i can do that.”
Avi sighs. “The ghost part isn’t what matters, and also you’re not a ghost.”
“Your loss, and how do you know I'm not a ghost?"
Spiderwort laughs. Avi rolls his eyes.
So Spiderwort heads to Altair next. Lavender and black tea, no milk this time. Altair also eyes the cookie suspiciously; after seeing Avi take a bite, ae hesitantly does the same.
Spiderwort takes note of a few other requests, hands out the rest of the teas and cookies, and heads over to Colin.

also I'm not 100% certain I want Altair to be 15; maybe we'll just see what happens and see if they even get along before deciding on anything (about the qpr)?
also, what kind of group interaction should it be if Zia's involved? (just something to think about ig, it's okay if you don't have an answer)

Okay, I'll start it later after I clean my room and catch up on writing my novel (no, editing ahhh :P). Which'll be a while because I'm so behind... whenever I sit down to write I get distracted and now I have to make up 4 hours. :/ But I was thinking (with Zia being there) just kinda like what you said, them getting to know each other and seeing if they get along. :)
