BIG Cadet Academy

BIG Cadet Academy for the Valiant

In its dying moments, SOCS merged with BIG, despite the fact that they'd been enemies for a time. BIG's cadet academy had already been established, but suddenly BIG had a bunch of experiments left over from SOCS. BIG wasn't so evil to keep up something so unethical as experimentation on live subjects… but these were the leftovers. The war is getting long, hard. They're starting to justify the use of experiments in hopes of creating stronger, genetically enhanced soldiers.

Meanwhile, BIG Cadet Academy for the Valiant is accepting more and more students at an alarming rate. Feeding children as young as eleven propaganda, teaching them to fight, and then placing them on the battlefield or into labs as soon as they come of age, it seems as though BIG is getting more desperate (and ruthless) than ever before…

***

Here is the recreated (and hopefully better) version of the original boarding school roleplay. The very basic story is summarized above, but I'll put it in clearer terms. The story is that now that SOCS, a very evil group of scientists who used to experiment on live beings, has been destroyed, BIG has been left with their experiments. At first, they were only using the leftovers, but they have now grown so desperate for power in the war that they are creating more experiments in an effort to make stronger soldiers. BIG also has a boarding school for students (BIG Cadet Academy for the Valiant or BCAftV) who will either fight or do science for them when they graduate. Mostly students learn propaganda about BIG, science, and combat skills, although all of the core classes are more or less there. At the academy, there is a lab. Some experiments are living in the lab for the students to use as test subjects in their lessons. But when a group of students becomes aware of these experiments plot for escape, they have to decide if they want to help or not. This roleplay will be about the days leading up to a small rebellion from students and experiments at BIG. If you have a half-baked, undeveloped idea for a character, don't worry because this is a perfect place for character development!

Your character can be a student or an experiment. While there is no limited number of characters, we ask that there only be up to eight experiments right now for smoothness and believability. Please consider if you will have time to commit to this roleplay before you join, especially if you're making an experiment character. Two of my characters are experiments, which leaves six experiment slots left as of right now. You don't need to have been in the old roleplay to join this one! If you were in the original roleplay, you can keep your character or make a new one. I'm also going to give you first dibs on experiment slots if you already had an experiment character for the next few days; that only seems fair.

Aly smiled. "We were going to use it for camoflauge, right? So how could we make the colors adjustable based on the environment?" she said.
"Yeah, that's a good idea," said Lee. "So would we make the colors portable for the soldiers...?"
sorry @Moon Wolf, I'm not really sure what to say haha :)

"Yeah, that's a good idea," said Lee. "So would we make the colors portable for the soldiers...?"

Before Aly could reply, she heard Relven calling.

"Alyria, Kathleen!" he called. "Hey, girls. Hope I'm not interupting anything?"

"Ah...well, I suppose not, besides our experiment, of course," Aly said, nodding. She glanced at Lee for confirmation, before asking, "What is it?"

(if you want to change Win’s reaction to Altair’s statement feel free ofc!)

~

Win giggles, and Altair almost chokes. Did he actually think that was funny? Nobody ever thinks ae’s funny. Ae does, on occasion; but as far as others go, but ae mostly gets met with eye rolls, polite nods, or groans.

Of course, groans are great when it’s a pun.

Zia explains about the phospors and asks what colors ae wants. Altair considers. “Just white. And maybe grey.” Ae glances at Win for some reason - something about him is compelling in a way ae can’t explain. “And can we shape some like stars? Where I’m from, everyone is a ghost, and we’re all hazy, but there are stars in us.”

Zia frowns.

Win’s eyes widen. “Really? Where is that?”

Ae shrugs. Ae doesn’t feel compelled to tell them that it’s all aer imagination. It feels real to aem.

Shooot now I can't remember what I put to each side of Rel's name... *drowns the school system in chocolate for taking up so much of my time*

/Relven/

"Ah...well, I suppose not, besides our experiment, of course," Aly said politely. "What is it?"

"Perfect." Rel leaned against a conveniently placed lab table, reverting to complete cool-boy mode and giving them both an engaging smile. "Don't you think things get boring around here? Don't you think we could all welcome a bit of a challenge? Yeah, now I'm full-out advertising my cause, but well. What I'm getting at is this: could we switch experiments? I think I'm going to be working with yours in a few days, so I'd like to initiate contact. And on your side, there's..." he read the body language between them - "a secluded corner over there, and think how great this would look on the class reports. 'Willingness to learn from all available subject matter, takes positive action to diversify expertise.' How does it sound?"

Thank goodness he liked acting. There were so many thoughts swirling inside him that he had to cover up, and for almost the first time in his life, it felt weird to be normal.

*slaps face* sorry Amethyst, I completely forgot about Rel... and thank you Moon Wolf :)

"Alyria, Kathleen!" Relven Sirion called. "Hey, girls. Hope I'm not interupting anything?"

"Ah...well, I suppose not, besides our experiment, of course," Aly said, glancing at Lee, who nodded in agreement and smiled at Rel. They didn't interact much, so she had no idea why he was talking to them, but he was nice.

"What is it?" asked Aly.

"Perfect." Rel leaned against a lab table, smiling at Aly and Lee as he continued speaking. "Don't you think things get boring around here? Don't you think we could all welcome a bit of a challenge?" Lee furrowed her brow. What was he getting to here?

"Yeah, now I'm full-out advertising my cause, but well. What I'm getting at is this: could we switch experiments? I think I'm going to be working with yours in a few days, so I'd like to initiate contact. And on your side, there's..." he paused, then went on meaningfully, "a secluded corner over there, and think how great this would look on the class reports. 'Willingness to learn from all available subject matter, takes positive action to diversify expertise.' How does it sound?"

Lee frowned at Rel. He was obviously up to something here, but she supposed his request seemed fair enough. They were almost done with their experiment anyway. Still... shouldn't they check with Mx. Frost about this first? She looked at Aly, wondering what she was thinking. Well, Rel was nice, and Lee did think that it might be fun to move on to another experiment, since they were already done testing theirs (ack sorry that's just the way Lee thinks)... And anyways, Mx. Frost was otherwise occupied with another student in the class, Spiderwort, and Lee couldn't see any harm in it. Why not. Mind made up, she bounced enthusiastically on her toes, smiling brightly. "Sure, I guess why not," she smiled. "What do you think Aly?" Whatever Aly decided, Lee trusted her opinion.

Since Lee agreed and Aly trusted her, Aly said, "That's fine with me as well."

/Rel/

There was the slightest of pauses, and Rel held his metaphorical breath. If they said no, what on earth would he do? Then Lee beamed. "Sure, I guess why not," she said enthusiastically. "What do you think Aly?"

"That's fine with me as well," Aly said, and Rel relaxed. Social interactions were more useful than most people gave them credit for.

"Great," he said, beckoning to Leskie. "It's appreciated. Anything I can do for you in return? Steal a couple of cookies from the cafeteria, or get exclusive seating for you at the concert at the amphitheater?" He moved towards Zinnia, not giving them too much time to reply and turn this into a full-scale conversation. He'd say anything to make them think that everything was normal, but he'd also do anything to prevent a long chat.

The only thing he was reluctant about was leaving Avi to the two students. But maybe they wouldn't be too interested in him...
