Kyngdom Survival Guide

Hello, it's me

Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ RP Board

Hello, it's me

Hello, it's me again!

This is my first thread, and it's going to focus on my charrie Lycaella, her mom and her friend Nygrune. It's for following our adventures while we're not in a place or situation covered by another thread. 'We' because Ronan has asked to be Nygrune, to which of course I said yes.

Someone (I think Icy) said that B.I.G. and Catstrophe actually dislike each other. It makes sense, so... Just to let you know.

I'll begin where I left off on the Underwater Ball thread, with Lycaella and Nygrune planning to do some spying of a sort. They've asked Lycaella's mom to show them her notes, so I'll fast-forward to that.

Lycaella~

"Oh, so you're giving them their shadows back?"

We are sitting on a rug in my mom's room, reading her notes. I can't make sense of half the words, but she tells Nygrune and I what it means. Apparently, Catastrophe has found a way to separate shadows from their owners' bodies, and to keep him from creating a shadow army and destroying everything, B.I.G. has been researching it. They've managed to figure out how he did it, and are testing ways to reattach the shadows to their owners.

"Well, that's one way of putting it," my mom says. "We believe it will be beneficial to all of Kyngdom."

"I don't really understand this one... How would they sew them back on?" I ask.

"I believe it's with a special sort of thread, Ella," Mom says. "Let's see now..."

Nygrune finds it first. "A needle made from the bone of a magic or mythical being, preferably with thread also made from a magical material."

"Yes," my mom says, "Although personally I think that a binding spell shows more promise." I raise an eyebrow. She doesn't usually like magic this much. Out of nowhere, I yawn. Mom and Nygrune look at me like I'm disrupting something.

"Sorry," I say. "I'm getting kind of tired. You two can keep reading, I don't mind."

My mom nods. I hear her calling after me as I leave the room.

"Remember to brush your teeth!"

~End RP.

It actually is getting kind of late, so I should go. I hope this works out.

Mexi says brkx earlier. I think that means bricks. Lego bricks, maybe, or the usual red clay. Anyway, I love the story! I'm going to do a quick two-hour RP.

Lycaella~

Nygrune and I finished packing and had almost made it to Laeta's house when we noticed airships. This is weird. I've never seen this many in New Windswood, or anywhere, for that matter. People are coming out of their houses. I see Laeta and go towards her, pulling Ngrune along with me.

"What's going on?" I ask.

"I don't know," Laeta answers. Just then, something falls from the nearest airship.

A bomb. It explodes all too close, and I grab Laeta's arm as Nygrune takes his turn to drag us away. I hear a building collapse, and dust and smoke start to fill the air. People are screaming now. I look back to see fire spreading across the street. It would be pretty if it wasn't so awful.

Laeta stops. Nygrune keeps going, though, and I'm being stretched between them like rubber. I pull on Laeta's arm, but she doesn't move. I follow her gaze to her house, wreathed in flames.

As if to show off, it gives a huge burst of fire, and I can feel the silent groan in Laeta as the home she probably grew up in is destroyed. So much of her life must be gone now. I can't imagine how it feels--I'm carrying most of my everything right now--but there's no time to consider that right now. It's not safe here.

"Let's go!" I shout. Nygrune has realized what's going on, and he takes Laeta's other arm. We get her moving away, towards the woods. We'll find water, and then we'll figure out what to do.

Suddenly, Laeta snaps out of it. She breaks away from me and Nygrune and pulls something out of her backpack. It glows purple in her hand.

"What's that?" Nygrune yells.

"A portal!" she yells back.

"Have you used it before?" I shout.

"Um, no, but we can try!" She sounds strangely hopeful. I'm not quite so sure.

Laeta ignores us. She does something with the portal and tosses it into the air. It traces a lazy arc and lands on the paving in a burst of expansion. Now it's big enough to step through, hovering just above the ground, still glowing lavender-violet. I don't know much about portal technology, but I'll just have to trust her. I step up to the circle of light. I think I can sense trees just past it, on the other side...

I step through and find myself tumbling into what feels like a bush. I scramble around for a second, see the ground too far below, and grab onto a secure branch just as Nygrune crashes down after me. Laeta follows, and soon enough we're all sitting in a tree in who-knows-what-forest. Laeta finds a device that I recognize as the portal and fiddles with it for a few seconds.

"Argh!" she exclaims.

"What?" I ask.

"Um. I, uh, may have accidentally plugged in the wrong coordinates and now the portal's not working," she says.

"What?!" Nygrune cries.

"So we're trapped?!" I ask. Wait, trapped?

Laeta nods, dejected.

I look at Nygrune, who seems to be speechless, then back at Laeta, then over at nothing in particular, which turns out to be a tangle of leaves.

"Um," I manage.

"Sorry, I'm sorry. I can try to fix it, but I don't know..." Laeta trails off miserably.

I shake my head. "It's okay, you didn't mean for this to happen. I'm sure we can get out of it. And hey, your portal worked pretty well for a first try. We're all still here, right?"

She brightens just the tiniest bit. "Yeah..."

Nygrune cuts in. "Actually, I'm impressed. I've heard that portals are really hard to make properly. But we're all okay, apart from being stuck in a tree."

Laeta half-smiles.

"All right, then," I say. "We've safely escaped the airships, and we're in a forest. That's not a bad start. So, what now?"

~End RP.

What happens now is still my question. I have a few options: We can sit in this tree until Laeta fixes the portal, we can spot the treehouse and realize that Laeta's portal actually worked almost the way it was supposed to, we can encounter the dragon named Water's Windsong who has just joined Kyngdom and should tell us what happens with her, we can find a rope in Lycaella's pack and use it to climb out of the tree, we can jump out of the tree and hope for a soft landing (which will probably result in broken limbs), or we could sit in the tree until something else happens. I leave it to you, although personally I like using the rope, seeing the treehouse and meeting Water's Windsong.

Mexi says gbyh. Goodbye? Yeah, I guess we should go.

"Anything useful in that backpack?" Nygrune asks.

Lycaella shrugs and looks through, her eyes suddenely lighting up. She pulls out a long rope and holds it in the air. She then puts it down and ties it to a tree branch.

Nygrune and I look at each other.

"That'll work," I say.

Lycaella slides down, and then Nygrune. I slowly slide down, but the branch suddneley snaps, and instead, I plummet down. My leg lands underneath me, and I yelp out in pain.

Nygrun and Lycaella rush up to me, and I pull out my leg from underneath.

I hiss through my teeth, but it'll be fine. Just a sprain.

Lycaella and Nygrune notice too, but Lycaella makes me a homemade splint anyway.

"Thanks," I say,

"No problem," she replies.

We look around, and while they try to figure out where we are, I tinker at my portal.

Lycaella~

We sit in silence for a few minutes, thinking.

"Anything useful in that backpack?" Nygrune asks.

I shrug. There's usually something. I pull it off and open it up. It doesn't take long; I almost always carry rope. I smile and wave it in the air triumphantly before tying it to a nearby branch.

"That'll work," I hear Laeta say.

I grin again and climb down the rope. Nygrune follows, and then it's Laeta's turn. But halfway down, the branch cracks. She pauses, looking up, then continues. It breaks.

"Ah!" she yelps. Nygrune and I run up to her as she pulls her leg out from underneath. I glance at her briefly, for permission or apology. Laeta hisses as I examine her anke, which turns out to be sprained. I sigh inwardly, relieved it wasn't worse.

"Just a sprain," I reassure her and Nygrune. I make her a splint anyway.

That done, I retrieve the rope as Laeta goes back to tinkering with the portal and Nygrune looks around. I join Nygrune, shoving the rope back in my bag.

"I don't know where this is," he says. "Have you been here before?"

I shrug, peering through the trees. "I don't know. Even familiar places can look strange from a different angle."

I'm more scared by your spelling, capitalization and grammar mistakes than your sentience. I'm also intrigued by your appearance. Are you... a fae dragon? A quendle (cat-squirrel-lizard animal)? Something else? I don't know...

Keep an eye out for treehouses, dragons, giant fallen trees with doors in them or smoke coming out of them, and blue glows. We may be in the forest Icy lives in! We also may be in a forest with a dragon or the treehouse in it.

Chinchilly asked in April on the who's here? thread why people eat helpless turkeys on Thanksgiving. I think the answer is tradition. It's traditional here to eat turkeys on Thanksgiving. Another factor may be that they're edible.
