Random Thoughts/Things?
I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

I took the NY state test today... and there was a story from Cricket! There was also an excerpt from a book I read in third grade, which I reeaaaallly liked. That probably showed in my short response lol. Aaaanywho I'm probably the only one who gets excited about stuff like this but whatever =P

Oh me too! There was no Cricket story, though -- just a bunch of non-fiction texts :P and you're definitely not the only one who gets excited about that sort of thing...

i take the PA state tests next week, and there are usually a lot of cricket stories in it! the format of the stories cricket publishes is really convenient for their testing needs

I took the english MCAS like two weeks ago and one of the excerpts was from hamilton! it was like the script of the Election of 1800. they also had an Informational Article about Hamilton's life, I am guessing for the people that don't know the musical and would be confused by:
"Talk less! Burr! Smile more! Burr! Don't let 'em know what you're against or what you're for! Burr! Shake hands with him! Burr! Charm her! Burr! It's 1800, ladies, tell your husbands vote for Burr!"
anyway that was cool. usually MCAS prompts are the most terribly dreary things to ever exist. I mean goshdarnit MCAS people, you could at least try. it's really hard to write an inspiring essay about crows and where they choose to sit at night, for pete's sake.

Oh yeah, I remember taking the standardized test for my region in middle school and the story we had to analyze was from cricket! Speaking of which, I have that test coming up soon, but the good news is this is the last year that I have to take it :)

Sadly, I've never encountered anything from Cricket in testing (I live in California and take the dreaded tests through something called CAASPP), although there was something factual and not very interesting published by the same publisher as Cricket. There's almost never any fiction, even.

Finally! Another Californian. I also take CAASPP, which stands for "CAlifornia Assessment of Student Progress and Performance". I hate it, the math is too easy. Last year I got a perfect math score.

The one thing I like about CAASPP testing is the 45 minutes I get to do crosswords.

aksjdhhshajaka i'm listening to without you:a musical memoir by anthony rapp (it's an album by the original actor for mark from rent and he tells the story basically of the making of rent but also jonathan larson's death, anthony rapp's mom's death, etc. and it's told in a mixture of narration, dialogue (where anthony rapp switches between voices during a conversation to show different people talking), a few rent songs and a few original songs by anthony rapp) and it's really sad but also a super cool story to hear. it also makes me see rent in a different way now- i sort of view one song glory from jonathan larson now- like rent is his song that he left behind before he died (if you don't know, he wrote rent and died the night of the final dress rehearsal before they opened on broadway

Have you seen Tick, Tick… Boom! It’s a musical all about Jonathan Larson and if you haven’t seen it you’d really like it! I haven’t even seen Rent and I love it!
