Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Random Thoughts/Things?

Random Thoughts/Things?

I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

Yeah, I'd love that! I think the specific date works best too, and of course it would be fine if you did it on CaC or TM :D

what if we all agree on a character name (it could be some sort of cb inside joke or an anagram of "cricket chatterbox" or something) and maybe we could briefly mention that character in our novels so that if we ever get published or something, it's like an easter egg for other cbers/a tribute to the cb? just an idea, i dunno

Oh that's a great idea! I'm also gonna try and sneak my AEs into all my novels because I love them so much, haha-

YES.  The most cohesive name I could come up with was Baxter C. Tickertah, idk...

Ooh good idea. I'm thinking something simple yet uncommon that could fit in realistic or fantasy settings?

why in stories do the good guys always win but in history the good guys always lose

Good question.... Though also not always true. I mean, what about, say, the Revoluntionary war?Although in many scenarios in history, who are the "good guys" and who are the "bad guys" all depends on your perspective.... And "good" people do bad things, and "bad" people do good things, so that also blurs the line.

well technically the british lost in the official war vs the 13 colonies, but really the real ones who lost were the natives who had already been pushed out of much of their home and the forming of this new country would drive millions more out of their homelands and massacred

I'd debate the accuracy of that statement, but as for "good guys" usually winning in fiction, that's probably because it's pretty satisfying to see your side win (and typically the protagonist/made characters are aligned with the side of good). Reality, however is often more complex, and the universe adheres to no such ethics; things happen and only time will tell when one regime/power will fall, "goodness" or "badness" aside. We, as mere mortals and flawed humans, tend to dwell on the negatives and find patterns where there may not necessarily be any, leading to a feeling that more worse outcomes happen in real life, when that might not exactly be the case.
