Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Club!
Do anybuggy want...

Do anybuggy want to start a book club? Maybe for just 1 or 2 books, depending on how interested people are. I know there have been some threads on book clubs before, but from what I've seen, they've taken a REALLY long time to get started, if they even got started at all. Here you can suggest the books and discuss how we'll do it, etc. I'll start a different thread once we've got everything figured out.

Yes, The Willoughbys is a good book.

Ok, since no one but Olive has replied and she also thinks The Willoughbys is good too, we'll read that. You have until May 3rd to find the book! Or if something goes wrong, we can always work out another date.

I vote for the Penderwicks. I read it a long time ago and liked it, and now I've heard that there's at least 1 sequel, but I don't remember much about it now, so I can't read them unless I reread it—well, I could, but it wouldn't be quite as enjoyable.

Ooh, Ima, I own both, you have to read the sequel!!! Especially because she's planning on writing three more!!!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!! Even my parents loved those books.

I'll look up the one everyone else wanted.... I've never heard of it.

Also, how much time should we have to finish it? Some of us probably read at different speeds than others... We could have everyone post how fast they think they could read it (after you tell us how long it is), but that may take a while. Oh! I have an idea. How about as soon as someone finishes the book, they make its thread and start the discussion. Then, when someone else finishes it, they comment, and so on. But no one should read the thread until they finish the book, because it would contain spoilers.

This way, no one has to wait for anyone else to get it from the library/bookstore/wherever in order to read it, but nobody remains behind. And we wouldn't move on to the next book until everyone has read it, of course... Which would mean a confirmation from everyone that they will (or won't) read whatever book is chosen. However, that would probably be necessary anyway.

I confess, I have misplaced my copy of The Willoughbys, but I'll find it.

Why has this thread gone to page 2? To the top!!!

So are we reading the Willoughbys or the Pendricks? (I can't see MJ's comment right now)
