Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Club!
Do anybuggy want...

Do anybuggy want to start a book club? Maybe for just 1 or 2 books, depending on how interested people are. I know there have been some threads on book clubs before, but from what I've seen, they've taken a REALLY long time to get started, if they even got started at all. Here you can suggest the books and discuss how we'll do it, etc. I'll start a different thread once we've got everything figured out.

We-ell, accordng to Olive it is now my turn to choose a book... Sorry, I haven't really even been posting on this thread. :) But, um, if I'm still supposed to choose a book... Is there some special way I'm supposed to do that? I only skimmed the thread. *is a little embarrassed*

I think you just pick any book you'd like and tell everyone else what it is. It should just be appropriate for Chatterbox readers (not too "adult"), and nota book the club just read. (Didn't it start with The Goose Girl last year, then ?? I forget.)

@ Admin: Princess Academy. It's by the same author as The Goose Girl.

@ ML: Yeah. Admin's right. Just pick something you'd like the ook club to read. Unless you're just quitting the book club.

Right—Princess Academy. Now I remember. That was last summer.

Oh yeah, I remember that! :) I wasn't a member of the book club last year, but I love the book Princess Academy! :) So, Mary W., what book should we read next? :)

I love Princess Academy. Figures, I like stuff by GCL, so I'd probably like the Princess Academy (which isn't by GCL). And what's this book club you're talking about? If it was in Cricket magazine last year, then I probably don't know it. (I got my first issue in February) Laterz!

No, the book club was on Chatterbox. They read Princess Academy last summer, then decided to postpone choosing the next book till this summer, since everyone was so busy with school, etc. Maybe they read a second book. I forget.

@ Admin: Yes, we did read a second book, or tried to. In the end, it was only Laura and me who completed it, I think. I don't really remember it.

Do you remember what the second book was?

Ima: So, um, anyways, should we skip onto the next person on the list since ML hasn't posted?

Vida: We read and then discuss a selected book. So far, we have gone a month (I think) without anyone choosing a book.

Everyone: The next person on the list is...... IMA! Yay! Someone who posts! GTG.

It's my turn? Okay! Let's see... Um... *thinks* Let's read So You Want To Be A Wizard by Diane Duane! The 20th anniversary is preferable, because it has a nearly-impossible-to-find-anywhere-else short story about the characters at the end, but it's alright if you can only find the first book. It's old (which is why the 20th anniversary edition is available at libraries), but it's still in print because the series is still being written. The 9th came out earlier this year. Nita can be very boring at times, but otherwise it's an excellent series.
