Regular poetry thread

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Regular poetry thread

Regular poetry thread (because I'm tired of not editing my poems)

This is exactly what it sounds like! A thread to post poetry. I'm excited to read all of your work!

she watched the sun and it burned her eyes, but she watched it anyways

she thought it was lonely, sinking down the orange sky

nobody there beside it to say goodbye, or even acknowledge that it was going

so she made friends with the sun and smiled at it, and waved goodbye as it gave way to the dark

and she said hello when it rose again the next day.

haha I have no idea what this is XD. Maybe I'll edit it and make it longer & better sometime...

Wow, that's really good!

I kind of enjoy the lack of context, but yeah, maybe making it longer would be cool. I love the long lines; when I write poetry, I always feel compelled to make the lines really short, but this is really nice.

Raindrops hurdle down

Crashing

Into the earth like fallen stars,

The wind howls and thrashes,

Lashing

As if trying to regain its human scars,

Through it all, I stand--

Resolute.

Eyes blazing, Kurata crimson waxing,

Consuming me, this blood-soaked scene,

All I know

Is that I mustn't ever stand down.

I must let my rage boil over and through

My veins,

To never, ever, ever subside; for it is my power;

With this, I, as the chain-user

that I am,

Have already won against the spider

Though everything I once had is lost;

That was

Why this all had to happen.

I stand, unwavered, just as I said back then:

I fear not Death,

but only that my rage will someday fade.

This is really good! Excellent imagery and a great atmosphere of hero-ness and whatnot (wow I'm bad at describing things). It's really powerful too.

Ghosts~

_-_-_ _-_-_ _-_-_

Those who wander,

Aimlessly-

No time left to squander,

Time's passé;

Whose whispers are

lost to the wind

When those still living

Attentions' rescind;

Bound down by the thrashing sea,

Ships, long sunk,

Now chasing but

a rapidly fading memory.

Silent shrieks still tell their tales,

A moment's secrets spills from ‘ese hollow gales,

And who is left to tell

their stories

unembellished and unerringly?

No one,

for they are of history's quarries.

Dusk is a magical time--

Where the skies sing

And faeries dance;

Dusk is a mysterious time--

Where secrets lay

Untouched, under the mist;

Dusk is a beautiful time--

Where colours collide

And blend and kiss;

Dusk is a bittersweet time--

Where the stars come out to play,

Yet another day swiped from us-- lost;

Dusk is a peaceful time--

Where silence sets in,

And the sun sets, all chipped to stardust;

Dusk is indeed a magical time of day.

Topping with a poem I wrote a couple days ago. It was in art class and my teacher was like "what do you see in this abstract sculpture?", and everyone was saying totally normal things, and my poet brain was spouting all kinds of stuff, but I ended up saying something normal too. So I wrote this to commemerate what might've happened if I'd said it all. If anyone has any title suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

Look at this stone.

What do you see?

We crowd in close,

Examining the sculpture

With keen interest.

Hands go up.

A bird.

A hand.

A whale.

An elephant.

With each one,

Our teacher nods

And smiles.

My turn.

“i see what you’ve seen,

But i see a lot more.

i see a mountain,

weathered stone

and tired eyes,

sleeping so long,

he’s forgotten to dream.

i see twins, just beginning

to travel different paths,

tied together,

but miles away.

i see a transformation,

a butterfly

within a chrysalis,

changing, changing,

becoming.

i see a half-forged heart,

beating,

pulsing,

veins full of light.

i see a child who’s strong,

but has always been told

they’re weak.

so many scars,

it’s become a second skin.

i see a tree,

bent with youth,

yet withered with age.

too young, too old,

but always growing.

and i see what you’ve seen,

but i,

i see a lot more.”

They stare,

But I only smile.

Fireworks make the sky shake,

As if bellowing that the whole world's

'Bout to crumble and break;

Fireworks explode!

Colouring the sky in one short blaze,

And in their wake's only left but a dull cloudy haze.

Fireworks are amazing--

Yet still so terrifying,

And're what keeps us night upon night

A-sky-gazing.
