Hello, it's me
Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ RP Board
Hello, it's me
Hello, it's me again!
This is my first thread, and it's going to focus on my charrie Lycaella, her mom and her friend Nygrune. It's for following our adventures while we're not in a place or situation covered by another thread. 'We' because Ronan has asked to be Nygrune, to which of course I said yes.
Someone (I think Icy) said that B.I.G. and Catstrophe actually dislike each other. It makes sense, so... Just to let you know.
I'll begin where I left off on the Underwater Ball thread, with Lycaella and Nygrune planning to do some spying of a sort. They've asked Lycaella's mom to show them her notes, so I'll fast-forward to that.
Lycaella~
"Oh, so you're giving them their shadows back?"
We are sitting on a rug in my mom's room, reading her notes. I can't make sense of half the words, but she tells Nygrune and I what it means. Apparently, Catastrophe has found a way to separate shadows from their owners' bodies, and to keep him from creating a shadow army and destroying everything, B.I.G. has been researching it. They've managed to figure out how he did it, and are testing ways to reattach the shadows to their owners.
"Well, that's one way of putting it," my mom says. "We believe it will be beneficial to all of Kyngdom."
"I don't really understand this one... How would they sew them back on?" I ask.
"I believe it's with a special sort of thread, Ella," Mom says. "Let's see now..."
Nygrune finds it first. "A needle made from the bone of a magic or mythical being, preferably with thread also made from a magical material."
"Yes," my mom says, "Although personally I think that a binding spell shows more promise." I raise an eyebrow. She doesn't usually like magic this much. Out of nowhere, I yawn. Mom and Nygrune look at me like I'm disrupting something.
"Sorry," I say. "I'm getting kind of tired. You two can keep reading, I don't mind."
My mom nods. I hear her calling after me as I leave the room.
"Remember to brush your teeth!"
~End RP.
It actually is getting kind of late, so I should go. I hope this works out.
(October 16, 2016 - 9:50 pm)
Okay, I'm RPing if no one else is. Out of practice with Nieke, though...
Nieke~
"So, that's where Jaaws comes from," I say victoriously. This revelation does not stop the sun from continuing its journey across the sky.
"It's getting dark," Norah says. "I can take you back to my home with the wood elves, but we'll need to leave now if we want to make it before nightfall."
Hazel glances around at us for approval before accepting. "That would be great, thanks."
"No problem. Come on, it's this way."
She leads us on for a long time, well past the point when the sun crosses the horizon. She chatters for a while, her owl Genesis interjecting with comments now and then. She tells us about herself, the place we're going and the people who live there, and teases out a good bit of conversation from us. She's nice, and I'm glad to put in my two acorns.
The elven village is beautiful, half-hidden in the trees. We reach it when the sun is well down and a few of the others are getting tired, and the candlelight through the windows paints a pretty picture on the wild, leafy background.
~Remember, it's somewhere around October (I think?), so the nights are getting chilly and the trees turning colors.
(June 17, 2018 - 9:46 pm)
"Put in my two acorns" :D
I suppose they'll be sleeping at Norah's house, then?
Hazel~
Norah leads us to her village, and by the time we arrive, the sun has long since gone down. In the darkness, however, candles shine, twinkling from behind windows or in colored lanterns hanging from the branches of shadowy trees. The trees in Norah's village are huge, and the houses and buildings almost seem to grow out of them. (This makes sense--wood elves did construct them, after all.) But the lighting and the trees, combined with my weariness, creates a feeling of surrealism, as if this is half dream...
We travel through the village, and as we walk Norah gives us a brisk tour, pointing out the well, the various paths leading to different parts of the village, and trails that would take us to certain areas within the forest.
Norah's home sits at the end of a path in a small, peaceful glade surrounded by amber-leaved trees and graceful bushes. No candles are lit inside her home, but a strange sort of glowing vine curls around the railing of her front porch, giving off a peaceful ambiance.
"Here we are!" Norah declares.
(June 26, 2018 - 9:42 am)
All the nut puns! XD
Yeah, most likely.
Nieke~
"Here we are!"
Norah's house is lovely, even dark. She takes us inside for a late meal and shows us the spare room. It's cosy, with one good-sized bed, a side table and two windows, plus a few boxes in one corner.
"I don't have a lot of guests," Norah admits.
"That's fine," Hazel assures her.
"Two of us could share," Trixie says, looking around.
Ben nods. "It might be a little small for three, though..."
"I'll take a tree if I can," I say. "Now, where do you suppose I could find one of those?"
Norah laughs, but still looks embarassed. "I could take the couch, if any of you want my room."
"No," Hazel says firmly. "I'll sleep on the couch, or on the floor with a sleeping bag. But after all you've done for us already, we couldn't force you out of your own room."
We settle on that. I go out soon after and vault up a beautiful oak not thirty feet from the house. The night is peaceful, quiet and softly lit. I rock off to sleep in a cradle of branches, knowing where Jaaws came from and that elven magic can fight her.
~So they wake up, spend the morning, find out about the flea market, and trek off? Or find out about the flea market after they leave?
(July 2, 2018 - 8:21 am)
Back before I knew much about RPing, I just went ahead and posted without indicating who the RP was about. Now I can't imagine NOT putting a name in front of my posts. xD
Hazel~
I lie on the couch and stare at the ceiling, my arms behind my head and my legs crossed in a relaxed position. A soft light seeps in through the windows, probably from the glowing vines or the moon. Or both.
I don't hear anything from the guest room and guess that Trixie and Ben have already fallen asleep. Nieke must be outside, coming to rest into a tree somewhere; and, knowing that my team is settled, I breathe in deeply and close my eyes, awaiting sleep.
~
It comes quicker than expected, and before I know it, I'm blinking awake to kitchen sounds. The sun is rising outside, casting a merry, fresh light into the living room. Dust motes float silently through the air just above my nose.
My neck is stiff thanks to the fact that I slept in the same position all night. I sit up groggily, shake off the tension in my muscles, and spy Norah making breakfast in the kitchen. I head to the bathroom, wash my face; and, refreshed but stil drowsy, I enter the kitchen.
"Good morning," Norah says when she sees me. "I'm just making breakfast. How did you sleep? Sorry if I woke you."
"I slept great," I assure her, rubbing my neck. "Thanks for letting me use the couch. Is there anything I can do to help with breakfast?"
I notice that Genesis is holding the cook book for Norah.
"Sure," Norah replies, and hands me a whisk. "You can mix the pancake batter."
I'm not the best cook--in fact, I probably rank under the 'worst cook' category--but I manage to assist in whatever way I can. Before long, the sun is fully up, and breakfast sits steaming on wooden plates.

(Top!)
(June 26, 2018 - 2:28 pm)
I AM SO FREAKING SORRY I HAVEN'T BEEN ON! I've been in a bit of a writing slump, and that combined with swim team eating up time I haven't even been checking. What has happened?
(July 14, 2018 - 1:39 pm)
Not all that much, really. There's a big flea market in Mer that almost every Kyngdomer is going to (there's a fake Power of Hoof being advertised), although the Elites might not know about it yet. We're staying in Norah's house overnight and then heading out again.
(July 17, 2018 - 2:47 pm)
Oh my Kyngdom, it feels weird but so good to see my name on all these threads again. Although I'm a little worried about the fact that no one else has posted since I was on last?
(July 18, 2018 - 3:17 pm)
Don't be worried; I'm not gone...I just haven't been able to do much posting for the past week because I'm spending the week with my grandparents! I'll be back to posting around Sunday/Monday.
(July 18, 2018 - 8:10 pm)
Oh, good! *excited*
(July 19, 2018 - 10:05 am)
I'll be gone from the 26th or the 27th to the 31st. I'll try to post before then though. Have we made a plan as the how the Elites are supposed to hear about the flea market.
(July 19, 2018 - 12:06 pm)
Sounds good. We do not have a plan for finding the flea market, no, but there seem to be posters up everywhere that's plot-convenient, so they might find one on their way to whichever Resistance base they're planning to visit, or hear word at the base if it's not abandoned/destroyed/taken over.
Mexi says inca! I don't know much about the Inca, actually.
(July 19, 2018 - 4:38 pm)
Nieke~
I wake up refreshed, though a little dewy. The morning is buttery and bright. I leap down from my makeshift drey and knock on Norah's door.
Hazel opens it. "Good morning, Nieke!"
"Morning! Mmm, what's that smell?"
"Pancakes. Your timing is actually perfect, I was just about to go see if you were awake."
"Great! Lead the way."
She does, and breakfast tastes as good as it smells. We talk over it, of course.
"I was thinking we could go southwest. There's a base there, if I remember correctly," Trixie explains to Hazel.
"These are amazing, Norah!" Ben glows. I smile in agreement.
"Thanks! Hazel and Genesis helped."
"What happens when we get there?" I ask.
"If it's still in operation, we'll see about informing the generals of what we've learned about Jaaws," Hazel says. "Thank you for your help with confirming that, by the way, and for breaking the hypnosis."
Norah waves it off. "Oh, you're welcome."
"And if it's not?" Trixie inquires.
"Then we try something else, depending on what we find."
"Have you heard anything about the Resistance?" Ben asks Norah.
"Some. Mostly asking for recruits, friendly relations, telling us about battles and stuff."
"Has word stopped or slowed down?"
"Not really. I've actually heard about you before."
She has our full attention now.
"Oh yeah?"
"What sorts of things?" Hazel wants to know.
"Well, they played up the drama, and I'm not sure all of it was true. There were a lot of stories about you fighting Jaaws and hunting her down. You sounded amazing."
"Well, we certainly tracked her," I say.
"Do we have any fans?"
"Actually, I'm sort of a fan... I couldn't quite believe it when I met you."
"Oh, wow!" Trixie exclaims.
"Wow!" Ben echoes, too close not to be a coincidence.
"Nice," I grin.
"We... Personally, I'm flattered," Hazel tells her.
"Do you think... perhaps I could go with you for a while?" Norah asks. "I know these woods pretty well. Maybe I could show you the way."
I look at the others.
~What's Hazel think of this? How about Trixie and Ben? I know we have to leave Norah, but she did want to come. Perhaps something like "we don't want to endanger you" would work? Let her go for a day, then send her off once we reach the base? Maybe she's a little uncertain now that she's seen Jaaws' hypnosis up close and personal and would be more willing to stay safe at home. Maybe she knows the way to the Resistance base and can deliver the message for us while we keep going after Jaaws. I don't know, those are just a few ideas.
(July 26, 2018 - 10:12 pm)
Ahhhh I'm so sorry for disappearing!!!
Hazel~
"Do you think...perhaps I could go with you for a while? I know these woods pretty well. Maybe I could show you the way." Norah looks at us imploringly.
"Of course, Norah!" I exclaim. "That would be such a great help."
We finish breakfast and pull our stuff together. Before long, we're preparing to leave. Norah checks her mailbox on the way out, and comes away with a rolled-up flyer in her hand.
"What's this?" she wonders quizzically. When she unfurls it we see that it's an advertisement for a flea market down in Mer.
"Come see the wonders of the southeast...selling things you can only imagine...," Norah mutters as she skims the ad. "Hm--" Then she stops short and her eyes widen. "The Power of Hoof?!"
"What?!"
Norah holds the paper out for us to see. I skim it quickly until I find the large, bright words...POWER OF HOOF.
We stare at the flyer, kind of shocked. I don't know what to think...
"That's going to make travel to Mer a whole lot more...insane," is the only thing I can say.
(October 21, 2018 - 1:22 pm)
I've been watching a lot of Steven Universe clips lately and I think it's affecting my writing voice? Not sure if that's good or bad. It's a very cool show.
