Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ RP Board

I run through

I run through the Forest, looking for the ruins. This would normally have been a hard task for anyone, but it's two days before the the next full moon, and my senses are better than ever. I see the outline of a tower in the distance, and run towards it as fast as I can. As I approach the ruins, I take in their majesty. No matter how often I come here, they will always be breathtaking. Instead of  exploring the endless rooms of the deserted castle like I would normally do, I reach into my backpack and pull out my sketchpad and a piece charcoal from last night's fire. I made enough money yesterday at the forest market that I should be able to stop scavenging and take it easy for a while. I don't need money for much more than clothes and art supplies anyway, for I find or grow most of the things I need, but it's good to have a purse full of coins in the middle of a war. Times have been tuff lately, with the war going on. Less and less people buy my artwork and the objects I find, so I've been wearing clothes two sizes too small for months now. My colored pencils are nearly stubs, so I've been doing a lot of charcoal drawings lately. I've had to go into cities more and more often to sell my artwork and found objects, and normally the only buyers are rich tourists. I hate cities. They aren't really good places to be when you're like me. A were wolf, that is. Did I forget to mention that?

"could I see that?" I ask Crimson. She hands it to me, and I read the Elvish scrawl. Thank goodness the Sailhaven Public Schools made you take one foreign language. I read the message out loud to Crimson.

"What's wrong?" Asks Crimson, "If this is from the council..."

"This means River is in trouble," I say. "This is not a letter from him.... This is a fake letter from The Council!"

"But we can't go back," Autumn says. "We have to continue."

"I think we have to, Autumn," Crimson says. "This hunt is useless. They're gone!"

Autumn sits and thinks before finally sighing. "You're right. We should get going."

So once again we set off.

We travel through the night. We each ride our horses, keeping what little itmes we own we keep in the saddlebags strapped to the horses. By the time the sun has risen, we have reached a beautiful waterfall. The waterfall sits in the center of a small clearing, emptying into a little pond. The pond runs off into a stream. Rose tells us to set up camp here.

"Why here? Are we going to be staying for awhile?" I ask Rose.

"Yes," she replies, "We are going to be waiting here. The Resistance told us that if things went wrong, we should find a safe place to sit and waituntil we could make our next move."

"What is our next move?" asks Crimson.

"We are going to sit and wait," says Rose, "Until the next battle. Before you ask, there is going to be one soon. Elliot's working on a bioweopon, and we need to get to it before he completes it. We are going to set up camp here, and more and more people will arive each day. Then, when enough Resistance fighters arrive, we will go into batte against Catastrophe."

Without another word, we all get to work. I start to pitch tents around the watefall, and Crimson ties up the horses. Rose does this strange thing with elf magic, and when I ask her later what she's doing, she tells me she's making it so that only our allies will be able to find this camp.

When all of that work is done, I ask Rose what to do next.

"What we do now," she says, "is wait."

We have been here for days. More and more people, animals and mutants seem to arrive each hour, and the camp is practically overflowing with tents. Every morning it's my job to wake up at five AM and train the recruits in everything from hand-on-hand combat to creating poison. And believe me, I know it all. I show them how to kill a man in three steps, and an animal in less. I teach them about how to hold a blade, and how to make your oponent think that you're weak. I teach them how to kill and not be killed.

Every day I do this.

Every day my class grows.

Because despite what Catastrophe thinks, we do have an army.

And one day, we will take him down.

Even if it kills us in the process.

My body aches from a full day of training. The full moon isn't near, but I still have a splitting headache, and on top of all this, I still have to make it to dinner. I meet Rose in the large tent we've designated for meals, and I watch salivating as the fox wearing a hair net scoops a handful of mashed potatoes onto my plate. I walk down the line and soon my tray is covered in so much food, I can barely see it. I sit down in the ground in a little circle of refugees and start to dig into my supper. Rose soon is sitting next to me, and even Claire and Crimson are in the circle. We start to talk, mainly politics and battle strategies. Still, it is talking, and it's the best thing we've done in a while.

Autumn and Crimson work on training the animals and mutants in battle, while I work on magic. Now, I can't really teach them magic, but a whole bunch of different types of elves also came, so I can work with them.

I'm in the middle of teaching one how to suspend something (not really Elven, but still), when the dinner bell rings.

I line up next to Autumn, and she looks wide-eyed at the food like she hasn't eaten for days. I can't help but snicker to myself. The same look she had when she saw the bread.

We sit next to each other, along with Crimson, and just talk about what's going on.

Crimson and Autumn are discussing the battle strategies that Catastrophe might have when I see a silver deer in the woods. Pure silver. Like, glowing.

I slowly stand up and walk towards it.

"Rose?" I hear Autumn ask behind me.

But I don't hear it. I walk deeper into the woods and Autumn and Crimson pursue me slowly, and I hear Autumn gasp.

I walk up to it slowly, and it stares me in the eyes.

Hello, I say to it in my mind.

It swoops down in a bow. My queen.

I look at it confused. I am not the queen.

It looks at me and touches me with its antler. My hair feels a small shock through it, but it is brief, and afterwards it is gone.

I have a message for you.

Yes? I ask.

They are coming.

I gasp and contemplate it. It's an emergeny. Though there is many of us, Catastrophe has more. I guess it's time to ask for help.

Send for Lord Roiel.

@ Rose: Your hair is white now, isn't it.

@Autumn: Should I join? That is, should Lycaella and her current companions find where you are?

Laeta posted. We're with you now.

Lycaella~

I walk back to where Laeta is sitting just in time to hear her exclamation.

"What?" I ask.

"I fixed it!" She is joyful, waving the teleporter in the air like a trophy. "It'll only work once, but it'll work."

I half-smile. Nygrune comes up, and Laeta activates the portal. One by one again, we jump through to...A camp full of mutants, elves, and animals.

"Where are we?" I whisper.

"Um," Laeta says. I turn to see her holding a pile of dust that could only be the teleporter. Looks like we're stuck here, wherever here is.

~End RP. If you don't know how this happened, backstory is on the Hello, it's me... thread.

Dear Alexander,

May I just say that it is an honor to get a letter from a legend like you. It would be wonderful if you could help with some war strategy, since we are basically a camp full of amateurs.

Amateurs and us. Us being Nygrune, Laeta and Lycaella. ...I don't know if Laeta meant to send us here. Actually, we're amateurs too as far as I know, so feel free to disregard this statement.
