Kyngdom Survival Guide

I run through

Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ RP Board

I run through

I run through the Forest, looking for the ruins. This would normally have been a hard task for anyone, but it's two days before the the next full moon, and my senses are better than ever. I see the outline of a tower in the distance, and run towards it as fast as I can. As I approach the ruins, I take in their majesty. No matter how often I come here, they will always be breathtaking. Instead of  exploring the endless rooms of the deserted castle like I would normally do, I reach into my backpack and pull out my sketchpad and a piece charcoal from last night's fire. I made enough money yesterday at the forest market that I should be able to stop scavenging and take it easy for a while. I don't need money for much more than clothes and art supplies anyway, for I find or grow most of the things I need, but it's good to have a purse full of coins in the middle of a war. Times have been tuff lately, with the war going on. Less and less people buy my artwork and the objects I find, so I've been wearing clothes two sizes too small for months now. My colored pencils are nearly stubs, so I've been doing a lot of charcoal drawings lately. I've had to go into cities more and more often to sell my artwork and found objects, and normally the only buyers are rich tourists. I hate cities. They aren't really good places to be when you're like me. A were wolf, that is. Did I forget to mention that?

Um... If you're asking me, there's nothing with me and tops. I was just telling whoever posted that that the thread topped.

Autumn looks at me wide-eyed and bursts out of her bed without warning, only to come tumbling back down.

"Whoa, whoa, take it easy," Mhatt says, helping Autumn.

I walk up to Autumn and sit beside her.

"How did I not kill you two?" she asks, looking down at her hands.

I take her hands, realizing that they are ice cold, and use some of my magic to flow heat into them.

She looks at me, questioning.

"Okay," I say. "Here we go."

"Right before the queen died, she put her magic into me by flowing it. That magic came to me all of the sudden when you were about to kill me. I calmed you down somehow, Autumn. Anyway, the queen knew she was going to die, and she also told me to protect you, but also River."

"Why?" Autumn asks.

I glance at River and he nods. I look back at Autumn.

"Because River is the next in line for the throne of Villepaix."

"Enough chit-chat," says River, "We've got to go."
"Go? Go where?" I ask
"the SOCS is holding a community ball this weekend. We think they might have info on why someone attacked the Elves. Also, they have great chocolate pudding." He responds, smiling, "You're part of the resistance now."
Rose tells me we only have a few minutes to pack, so she sneaks into her room and grabs me some of her clothes and a ball gown. The clothes are mainly pants and random t-shirts, and few of them fit me (she is, after all, an elf, and slightly skinnier than me. I'm a were wolf, I have muscles.) I pack the clothes that do fit me in my backpack, along with the art supplies the Elves gave me and my sketchbook.
I hear the door open, and I look up expecting to see Rose. Instead through the door comes-
"Mhatt?" I say, surprised.
"Yeah," he says, "I'm coming with you on you're journey. Crimson, too."
"Where is she?"
"She's packing."
"Shouldn't you be packing too?" I ask him.
"No. I wanted to see you."
Oh no. Romance-y stuff.
"Listen Mhatt. There is something you need to know about me." I take a deep breath, "there is a monster inside me. It's the thing that gives me night vision, and great agility, and a good sense of smell. But it's also the thing that brings me pain. Because it's trying to find its way escape. And every full moon, it does. It escapes and possesses me like a child uses a puppet. But as soon as the moon disappears, so does the monster. And it crawls back inside me, and the cycle resets itself. And every time the monster escapes, someone close to me dies. And if you and I get together, then it will eventually be you who dies. And I couldn't live with that."

I'm about to walk in the room and call for Autumn when I see her and Mhatt, talking. I immediatley turn and walk off.

"What was that?" River asks from the hallway.

"I-"

But I'm cut off when I stare at him in shock.

"What?" he asks.

"You-your hair," I sputter.

He grabs his hair and runs to a mirror in the hall.

"OH MY KYNGDOM WHAT THE HECK, WHAT, WHY, WHAT-"

"It doesn't look that bad," I interupt so he doesn't break the mirror into pieces. "I mean, you still look young, it just looks like you dyed your hair. White."

He does a spell to bring color back, but his hair deflects it. I almost laugh. His hair deflected a spell.

"Not funny," he says without turning away from the mirror.

Suddenely, Mhatt bursts out of he room and storms over to his room, slamming the door.

River and I glance at each other, heading over to my room where Autum is.

"What was that?" I ask.

Autumn shakes her head. "I told him basically that a me and him wasn't going to turn out great because he would probably end up in pieces. Literally."

Autumn glances at River, and then glances back wide-eyed.

"Your...your-"

"Don't say it," River says suddenely, holding up his hands.

"Shall we get going?" I ask, clearing my throat.

They both nod, and we head out the door.

We all met in the stables of the Castle where an agent was waiting to supply us with horses. Rose got a beautiful brown mare with gold eyes and a long, uncut brown mane. Matt chose a pure black stallion. I got a lovely black mare with grey spots and a wild grey mane and violet eyes. Crimson chose a pure white stallion, with brown eyes the color of melted chocolate. River got a Pegasus. A. Flipping. Pegasus.

When I asked Rose why, she told me that it is good luck for the heir to ride a winged horse on his first quest. It has to  do with this elf legend or something. It would also make him safer during an attack, because he could fly away to safety while we died fighting to protect him. (Okay, so Rose didn't say that part. I added it in. But we were all thinking it, right?)

Finally, we started our journey. We all rode our steeds through the palace gardens at night, sticking to a tight formation. Rose in the front, Crimson and River in the middle, and me and a Mhatt taking up the rear. Mhatt wasn't happy about having to ride next to me, but it was the safest choice.

"Listen Mhatt, I'm sorry," I say, pulling up next to him, "But it can't happen. Without trying to, I would kill you. Maybe we could just be friends for now?"

"Autumn, I'm not sure I feel like talking to you at the moment."

"Fine. I just think it will be very awkward riding in silence for the entire quest."

It turns out I wasn't wrong. It was, in fact, very awkward. The awkwardness only stopped when we reached a small clearing in the middle of a forest. We'd been traveling through the forsest for a long while, and Crimson (who had basically turned into our personal nature guide) thought it would be a good place to stop. So a lot of work and a couple of s'mores later, here we all are, sitting around a campfire, teasing River about his hair. Finally, Mhatt has decided to talk to me, but only about matters concerning ways to irritate River about his new 'do.

I sit next to River and Autumn around the campfire. Crimson introduced us to a food called "smore's," and they were actually quite delicious.

Anyway, Autumn and Mhatt talk quietly while Crimson and River talk.

Estellien whinnies, so I go to check on her.

"What is it?" I ask in Elven tongue.

"Magic," she replies softly.

I look around, suddenely sensing it too.

"It's not dark...." I say.

"No," Estellian replies. "Only another elf."

I walk into the woods and feel the cold tough my skin with a shiver.

I head back to the fire, and motion for everybody to come. They stand up and follow me, and I can tell they are questioning what is going on.

"Do you feel it?" I whisper to River.

He nods.

We head deeper into the woods.

"We should head back-" Autumn begins to say.

But she is interupted as River holds up a hand for silence.

"Something's not right," he mutters.

The back of my neck tingles. "Don't make any sudden movements," I whisper to everyone.

I clear my throat. "We are elves too," I say aloud in the Elevn tongue.

There is silence before a voice finally replies, "Not all of you."

"Most," River says.

"Unveil yourselves," I say.

Suddenely, everything is tense, and I immediatley draw my bow and arrow, pointing it into the darkness. River does the same.

The faint light and sudden noise shows that there are arrows on the backs of Autumn, Crimson, and Mhatt's neck.

"Who are you?" a voice asks.

River clears his throat. "I am King Boisest, and the other is the successor to Queen Zefara."

I wake to the sound of a girl calling my name.

"Autumn? Autumn, are you awake?"

My eyes flutter open. Rose is standing above me, and next to her is... Claire?!

"Claire, is that you?!" Is say to the pretty mare as I sit up in bed.

"Yes it is me. Rose, the dear, was just retailing me with the stories of your journey so far. It seems I've missed out!"

"Yes, it seems. Rose, where are we?"

"We are in the Elves village of the Trees. Welcome to the heart of the Resistance."

Autumn's awake and we're all situated.

I prepare my bow, and I throw Autumn a gun.

"What are you doing?" she asks.

I sigh. "Request to hunt from one of the Resistance leaders. A girl by Alexandria, and a boy by Poe Allen. Also any surronding guards or soldiers or anyone else. They've crossed over to a forest a few miles away from Elliot's base. Our job is to take them out."

"Who are they?" Autumn asks.

"They're both eleven year olds used by Elliot to get somewhere. Alexandria's killed since she was five, and Poe's a highly trained pawn of Elliot," I reply, slinging my bow and arrow over my shoulder. "Ready?"

Autumn nods, taking hold of the gun.

We set off.

~~~~
We sit in the tree and wait for them to come. We've been tracking them, and they seem to be heading in this direction.
Suddenely, Autumn takes a shot, and she hits a guard. I shoot one with my bow, and Crimson takes one out with her crossbow.
Autumn aims her gun at Poe Allen, but Alexandria noticed. Right as Autumn shoots it, Poe and Alexandria dive. Before we can aim again, they burst up, along with another guard, and run.
We go after them, at a slower pace. No use wasting energy. They aren't going anywhere too soon.
We have been tracking them for hours now, and we still aren't getting anywhere. I think they know that we're following them, and that makes it much more difficult to kill them. We do, however, hear that some girl named "Shadow" has been killed. I ask Rose if she knows who Shadow is, and she explains.
"shadow's an angel. Literrally. The SOCS gave her wings, and she is one of the leaders of the Mutant Resistance. We are allies. She has amazing abilities, and is the Angel of death. shadow isn't her real name, and she spells it kind of funny. It's all lowercase. For some reason, Catastrophe really wants her. We don't know why. If he's captured her, things can't be good."
"Have you ever met her?"
"No, but River has. In meetings and stuff. He's also met this cat, Mina. She's a cyborg, I think. River didn't tell me as much about her."
We sit in silence for a little bit as we watch the girl and the boy set up camp. We set up our own camp, in the trees. All we can do now is wait.
I shift uncomfortably in the tree.
There's something about the ones we're hunting- it doesn't seem right. Is it because they are young? Are we supposed to end a life that early? I mean, they have ended lives themselves plenty of times, but it's not their fault they never had a childhood.
"Can't sleep?" Autumn asks, interrupting my thoughts.
I turn to her and shake my head.
"Ah. Me either," she mutters.
But within a few minutes, Autumn drifts off into sleep. I, on the other hand, lay wide awake, when I suddennly hear a small chirp above my head. I sit up and look, noticing a bird in the branches.
It flutters down and sits on my knee.
It has a small golden necklace with a scroll attached to it. A bird from the Elves.
I bid thank and goodbyes to the bird in Elvish, and open the letter.
It reads,
Dear Rose,
They are asking for your presence in The Council. They say you are to be the successor to the queen because she passed her powers to you. I understand that you are currentely in the middle of something, but please, try to come back soon.
From,
River
I sigh. It's not happening. I can't just leave in the middle of a mission. What is The Council thinking?
Unless....
It isn't The Council at all.
I wake to fluttering and few chirps. Birds always freaked me out you know with their beady black eyes and their taunting bright colors. I watch as Rose takes something from the bird and looks at it. Her face fills with shock. It must be serious because I've never seen a person filled with so much emotion. I'm afraid she might literally burst.
"What happened?" I ask.
She doesnt answer.
"What were you reading?" I question. I snatch the thing in her hand. It's a letter. I couldn't make out anything.
"I should have took Elvish when I went to school."
We sat in silence for a few moments before she started speaking....
