|Lyra smiles. "-Aren't the cherry blossoms pretty?-" she asks, slightly dreamily. "-Especially during spring.-"|
|"They are," I say quietly, slipping an arm around her. I pause, breaking a very small flowering branch off of a tree we're passing and slipping it into her hair. I love how she always notices beautiful things and somehow makes me notice them too, and they all seem to radiate from her. "What do you like most about spring?"|

-"|"They are,|" he says softly, slipping an arm around me. He pauses to break off a small flowering branch off a tree and slips it into my hair. I smile. He asks, "|What do you like most about spring?|"-
-"Well," I pause, looking at the cherry blossoms which are now next to us. "Everything, really. Better weather, birds...though I think I love the flowers there most. What about you?"-

|"All the things you said," I reply. "Especially the days getting longer, I think. The way there's more sunlight and you can do more things. And, I don't know, the way everything comes to life again after winter. I'm tempted to say spring's my favorite season, but I don't think I can really say that, because I love all the other seasons too..." I laugh and shake my head. "What's your favorite season? I think I've asked that before, but I'm not completely certain."|

-"I'd have to say spring as well," I said. "With the melting snow and how pretty it is overall." I gently touch a passing cherry blossom. "Right now, you can really feel the spring in the air, especially with the cherry blossoms. And as you said, it's like nature is back to life again..." I trailed off, staring at a passing hummingbird. "Where would you want to go if you could go anywhere?"-

|"-I'd have to say spring as well,-" Lyra said. "-With the melting snow and how pretty it is overall.-" She reaches out to brush her fingers against a cherry blossom. "-Right now, you can really feel the spring in the air, especially with the cherry blossoms. And as you said, it's like nature is back to life again...-" We're silent for a moment, and Lyra watches the exuberant world around us. Following her gaze, I see a jewel-colored hummingbird hanging suspended against the clear blue sky. "-Where would you want to go if you could go anywhere?-" Lyra asks.|
|"Right now, I'm pretty happy right here," I say. "With you. But if I could go anywhere in the world, maybe I'd go to Italy. I've never been there, but it sounds amazing from everything I've heard. If I could go there with you, I'd go." I smile, pausing by the edge of a fountain. "What about you?"|

-"|Right now, I'm pretty happy right here. With you. But if I could go anywhere in the world, maybe I'd go to Italy. I've never been there, but it sounds amazing from everything I've heard. If I could go there with you, I'd go.| He smiles, pausing by the edge of a fountain. "|What about you?|"-
-"I would honestly say the same, right here," I admit, smiling shyly. "But anywhere in the world...maybe Tokyo? It's a beautiful city with many things to do. Maybe one day we could go to Italy and then Tokyo together." I stare at the water in the fountain, slightly daydreaming about going to Italy and Tokyo with Eri. The water is still and reflects the cherry blossoms above like a mirror. A few small petals have landed in the water. "It would be really cool to go there sometime, wouldn't it?"-

Maybe one day we could go to Italy and then Tokyo together.-" We linger by the edge of the fountain, and I look down at her profile of her face against the contrasting blue of the water and green of the park's grass. "-It would be really cool to go there sometime, wouldn't it?-"|
|"It really would," I say, drawing a little closer to her. "One day we'll just fly off to Italy, and go all over it and shock the locals, and then we'll take another flight and explore Tokyo together too... I think there are cherry trees in Japan too, right?" I laugh. "So that would be all right."|

-"Cherry trees...would be amazing to see them in Japan," I say, smiling as I stare up at the cherry blossoms beside the fountain. "But I wouldn't mind if there weren't any, or if we were in the middle of Antarctica...if we went there together."

|"I feel the same way," I tell her, sitting down on the stone edge of the fountain. "Do we really need cherry trees? I'd rather there were some, though." I smile at her, wondering if it would be better to just sit here forever or go on to somewhere else - the bakery that's on the edge of the park, or somewhere else in the park. I'm happy where I am, though, for the moment. "What's your favorite sort of flower?"|

-"I think I really like irises," I reply, smiling. "But I love all flowers, like cherry blossoms." I stand up and ask, "Want to continue walking? And what about you, what's your favorite flower?"-

|"-I think I really like irises,-" Lyra tells me with a smile. Somehow, that's simply right - Lyra and irises seem to go together. "-But I love all flowers, like cherry blossoms.-" She rises from her seat beside me and adds, "-Want to continue walking? And what about you, what's your favorite flower?-"|
|"I never really thought about it before," I say, "but maybe, after today, cherry blossoms and irises... also I love tulips. They're so bright. And yeah, we can definitely continue - there's a bakery at one end of the park. Would you like to go there? It has amazing pastries and cookies and things."|

|I consider. "Well, I really recommend the croissants, because I just have to," I say. "They're amazing. Also the croissants with chocolate, which if anything are even more divine. Their cookies are usually pretty good too." I laugh. "Though if I have one weakness, it's chocolate chip cookies, and I'm never going to turn one down. In general, the bakery's bread-ish stuff is nice. Sounds good?" I look at her as we walk along through the fluttering, wind-shaken petals, so glad to just be alive and in the middle of springtime with Lyra.|

|"I don't know if I have a preference," I reply. "Somewhere in between, I suppose. I'm glad you understand my cookie situation!" But, thinking about it, is there almost anything I would really not want to tell Lyra? She's so wonderful, so sweet, and I know that I can trust her to understand. All I can do is try to always understand her, which really isn't hard. In fact, it's one of the things I most want to do. "What about you?"|
