Random Thoughts/Things?
I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

<3 Yeah, sometimes one can actually see why the human race exists. I love when complete strangers tell you a funny anecdote or just show humanity and share their lives with you for a little while, even though you'll probably never see them again.

This thread is so great, I love how popular it still is. A fun little tidbit is that a while ago I did a deep dive into the back pages for a CB history project that ultimately never got finished BUT something cool I found was that from 2016 to around 2019 people made lottt more threads. At first I thought it was because it was just more active back then, but then I realized that the sudden drop in threads in 2019 was because of the creation of Random Thoughts/Things; people would post on this thread the things they would usually make individual threads for before, so this thread really changed the geography of this site. Idk I just think CB history is neat :)

Out of curiosity, if you got to this, did you say any major activity change over quarantine?
(September 9, 2024 - 5:13 pm)
oops see not say

I was tasked with researching 2015-2019 I think, so I didn't get to that time. But I did join in 2020 right when quarantine started, and from what I could see when I arrived a lot of new people were joining and a lot of older CBers were leaving (there were sooo many leaving threads on CaC when I joined). I think it's kind of like a domino effect; when one of them decided they wanted to leave so did a bunch others. I remember most of them talking about how they loved the CB so much but it had changed so much and they missed their old friends etc etc. I think 2020 saw a bunch of new people (including me) because everyone was stuck inside during the pandemic, and that led into a kind of new era (for lack of a better word). One of the major changes around this time was a shift into a majority lgbtq/ally userbase (which was not the case in, say, 2016, which is when the whole DJ Bowtie incident happened). Idk sorry for the tangent it's facinating to me :))
