Random Thoughts/Things?
I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

One week into senior year and I already have more homework than probably my entire freshmen and sophomore years combined uggghhh. I'll try to be more active on here though. If anyone has any ideas for cool opinion topics (a topic which has multiple sides which can be argued; usually controversial) for my sixteen page research paper I have to write soon pls let me know T^T

Oh dear, I'm sorry your senior year is so tough. I hope you can figure out a way to manage everything!
Here are some ideas for papers!!! (you said you wanted controversial, don't blame me if they're a bit over-the-top :D)
-Portraying characters of different orientations and skin colors is not true diversity IF those characters all have the same viewpoints and worldviews (you could try researching films, novels, comics, etc. and look at whether the messages and themes and underlying assumptions are the same regardless of the character's other traits)
-socialism is a better way of running the world than capitalism
-kids and teenagers should be banned from using social media (or should I say social media should be banned from using kids and teenagers?)
-global warming is the most urgent crisis we're facing at the moment
-in order to be truly inclusive, face masks need to be mandatory again, especially given the summer wave of Covid; otherwise, how are immunocompromised people, or people who are just susceptible to Covid, supposed to be included in anything if they can't socialize safely? I know so many people who have denied themselves socialization for years, just to keep themselves alive. And it's tragic.
I hope these are helpful! If you need any more let me know. Sending good vibes and virtual hot chocolate your way <3

Thanks Poinsettia! I think the social media one is very interesting and it's a topic that I'd be interested in exploring. I'm still kicking around a few ideas, but the topic needs to have a lottt of research on it and part of the final paper is a proposed 'product', which I have to take into account too. Ughh it is very annoying. Thanks for the ideas though!! I'm sure I'll come up with something good eventually....

Guys, update! Y'know how I was carrying on about never finding anyone like me? Well, today in class this guy turned out to be from Mexico and we had a lovely conversation and he thinks exactly the same stuff as I do!! Also there's a very funny boy who has made plans to steal rubber ducks (feel free to ask for The Full Saga), a really bouncy and cordial teacher from the South, and a very sweet older student who shepherded us new students like she was a no-nonsense mother duck. Also a boy who's slightly cute. Hmm.
I'm so glad that things are going better for you, Poinsettia! Thank you for letting us know.

That's great!! :D yes, lots of silly boys (tut tut *shakes head like I'm not silly too*) in my class too---not really any silly girls, though (that I know of... I don't really know many of the girls at my school though. Weirdly, I feel like I know more boys than girls, even though all my friends at that school are girls? (okay yeah I only have one friend at my school lol so that makes sense, but I mean that all the people I sit with at lunch are girls))... and funnily enough, the same thing's sort of happening with me at my school, except it took me a whole year to get (or start getting) in the mindset that people can be interesting to talk to at this school too!! So it's awesome that you're so open to that concept to begin with :D And hehee yes please regale us with ~The Full Saga~ :D I love hearing about what chaos kids get up to at other schools! Seriously, I feel like students across the nation/even around the world should get together and compile collections of stories about what hilarious things they get up to at their schools...

Yayyy I'm so happy that things are going better! And lol I would love to hear the whole rubber duck saga XD
Addie says /eekoz/ 'eek oz'? Did you see the wizard of oz addie?

Thank you, @admin! It's always nice to hear from you :)
@Celine and WildWolf, thank you :) I totally agree, there should be a book about hilarious school stuff. I wish the New York Times or somebody would do that. It would benefit the entire nation to be able to read about such hilarity :) Anyway, here's the Rubber Duck Saga! Basically, I was in this class where we have to sit around and talk about our experiences, and make plans, carry them out, and then make profound reflections on what we learned when we carried them out... it's really kind of silly, but it's very low-key and I know quite a few people there, so I've been enjoying it so far. Last week, we had to do a little exercise where we thought of something we could plan to do, and wrote our plans and any reflections that we might hypothetically have if we carried them out. It was supposed to give us a feel for the general planning concept. Anyway, there's this one boy, who's pretty funny - he was sticking clothespins on people a few days before, because it was the big welcome day and all the new students somehow had quantities of clothespins and were sticking them on each other, trying to do it so that the clothespinee didn't notice that he or she had been clothespinned. That's where i met the mother-duck student. She was shepherding some new students, including me. One of the things she said was, holding out a plastic bag full of fidget toys to the group at large: "Here. Take a fidget toy and be happy." Anyway, this one boy had written in his "Do" section: "Steal rubber ducks." His "plan" section said, among other things: "Learn negotiation skills in case I get caught." I can't remember what his "reflect" section said, but it was sure to be something pretty funny.
There's the Saga :)

School started yesterday for for me! It was... meh. My teachers and classmates are really welcoming so far, though. I’m officially a 7th grader now! Still so many more years to go... I mean, I like school enough, but I’d rather be reading.

Guys I'm scared. My partner has gym class with my brother who is the most trans/homophobic person I know on a personal basis (or at least he's the loudest about it). There's no way he would know that we're dating (because my brother and I don't really interact) but like I'm so afraid he's gonna say something terrible to my guy because that's the kind of person he is. And my guy is both pretty openly trans and not-straight and I'm getting so stressed about this. It's not helping that we haven't properly talked in a week, which is really abnormal for us because we usually make time to talk at least twice a day, and they haven't given me a reason or head-up so I'm panicking but trying really hard to stay composed. (Legit waiting for a break-up text ToT)
On a better note, I had a reunion with my adopted-out brother (who's not a total bigot) at in drama club at college! I haven't been able to contact him in a long time, but it's great to see that he's doing well. He's changed so much and is just, wow, so much different (in a good way, not that he was bad before). I literally almost didn't recognise him when he came up to me all excited, it took me a moment and then I absolutely freaked out. I missed him so much and it's so good to see him. He's an ally and has so many friends and graduated from highschool early and I'm so proud of him!!! He told me he saw me in my highschool play (which he loved), but wasn't able to reach out. I also had no idea he would attend the same college as me, but this is great! I haven't really been able to make any new friends yet, but I now have an ally brother and a fellow queer co-worker who I know at this school!

A few days ago in school, my advisory burst into the advisory next door and we had a snowball fight with them (not actual snowballs). The goal was to get more snowballs on the other team's side than on yours. My advisory won, but only because my advisor cheated by taking some of the snowballs on our side and secretly putting them back in the box XD

that's so real my advisory randomly went into another advisory from 7th grade and started doing the charli xcx apple dance in unison
it was really funny lol
