I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. side note: maybe this is stupid but i didn't realize other schools had advisory! my school acts like it's really special and unique to them XD

not stupid but yeah both my middle and high school have advisories (the schools are in no way connected, one was a tiny little jewish school the other is a huge public school)

I'm perfectly capable of making up my own mind. It's just that all it takes is for one person to say "Are you sure?" for me to become completely uncertain again.

Yall... I'm in health class rn and the teacher is like "do you consider yourself healthy?" and I'm over here with a cane and a knee brace. lol

oh dear, I'm sorry about that. Teachers can be so obtuse sometimes. I mean a lot of times they're marvelous, but sometimes you get one who's just not as great.

As a 'study monitor' in my class I had to attend a meeting in our school's auditorum yesterday along with the actual monitors of my class. It turns out that the entire school's monitiors need to attend suc a meeting every two years to vote for the new presidents of the student union. There were nine candidates, eight of which were from our grade, i.e. all students in their second year of high school. They were supposed to give a three minute speech and we were to vote for the best one. The first eight all were visibly nervous and all forgot what to say next at some point in their speeches, and then the ninth candidate- a boy in ninth grade, two grades lower than everyone else- stood up and delivered his speech beautifully, never stuttering or pausing involuntarily. And he had humor to boot! It was like listening to a TED talk.
He won by a landslide, with 204 votes. Everyone else only ranged from 89-170. It was truly a valuable lesson on the importance of the skill of speaking in public.

That was interesting to read about :) It does happen that way sometimes. What was the ninth-grader's speech about?

You know your chemistry class is going to be fun when you commit a federal crime on your second day :D (We turned the copper coating into brass-- I know that you're allowed to alter pennies for educational purposes but it's more fun to say this way)

So, I'm a freshman, and yesterday in our third soccer game of the year I scored my first varsity goal! I went from being super nervous about even making varsity to starting center midfield, playing almost the entire, game, scoring, and getting player of the game for two of our first three games! Yay! I'm really proud of myself

Congrats, that's amazing!! I'm proud of you too :D I'd love to be on a soccer team - I've watched soccer for years, I want a chance to play it myself... Anyway, yay! *confetti* I hope you score many more :)
