Random Thoughts/Things?

Random Thoughts/Things?

I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

a few of my friends are trying to get me to read the whole thing and while I admit Paris sewer systems are cool, 100 pages on them is a bit much :)

I've only read an abridged version, but it's cool you're reading the whole thing!

Exactly. I read as much of the part about the Battle of Waterloo as I had the patience for, then skipped the rest.

I do a little bit of Python and Java but I'm not super experienced. What about you?

I'm not super experienced either. I've tried some. Have you coded any games or anything like that?

I've worked through a few online classes, coded a few word games/bots for them, and some math/science problems stuff that requires data analysis. I've been meaning to look more into some machine learning, especially statistical models and stuff, but I never have time :) what about you?

Wow, that's cool! As for me, I do more game-related things, as well as simple calculators and such. Anything you've done that you're especially proud of?

Does anyone have any tips for overnight school trips? I’m going on one soon and I’m kind of scared. I’ve never slept without my parents before and we’re being (quasi) randomly assigned to cabins and I’ve also never slept with other kids...anyway, tips please!  Thanks.

i totally get how nerve-racking sleeping away from your parents can be. in fact, the first time i ever really slept away from my parents (aside from at a relative's house) was on a school overnight trip as well! i'm not sure how much advice i have, though :/ you might end up having so much fun on your trip that you don't even think about it that much? that's kind of how it was for me.

and some stuff you might want to bring, just off the top of my head: i'd recommend bringing a sleeping bag instead of bedsheets and stuff, if you can. it's just easier to pack and unpack. if you're going to be sleeping around a bunch of other kids, you might want to bring ear plugs--i personally can't stand to sleep with them in, but it might be helpful if you're trying to get to sleep and other kids are being noisy. a deck of cards is also always a good thing to bring. and i don't know if you've been given a packing list, but if you're going to be doing outdoor activities, definitely bring another pair of shoes and more socks than you think you'll need (if you have room)--wet feet are not fun.

i hope you have fun on your overnight trip! :D

We've been given a packing list. Thank you for your tips! It was recommended on the list to bring a sleeping bag, which I have done.

Omg yes I totally understand how you're feeling!! *summons all memories of my first time at sleep away camp last summer* So first, I would say (like pangolin said) odds are you'll enjoy yourself enough that you'll forget about being homesick. Just distract yourself! Books can be really helpful for this -- when there's a quiet moment (especially before bed) it can really help to have a way to unwind and just turn off your brain.

Also, just don't overthink it! I know this can be hard, but when I went on my first overnight trip with my Girl Scout troop, I anxiety-ed (yes, it's a verb now) it a lot beforehand, and that made it really hard to leave. But once I was actually on the trip, it was super fun! Just remind yourself that you'll be okay, and even if you're not, you'll be stronger and have more strategies for the next time :)

Aaacht. What a drag, I went out with my friends yesterday to P-Panera...then Chipotle,Starbucks,Dunkin Donuts, Marshells, GAP, and then CVS....for some reason. Yes yes, yesterday had a lot of coffe included. I had a Cold brew espresso......and another cold brew espresso.Though they tasted differrent both were good. And then I bought a muffin and a donut, and then sourpatch kids. No protien. None. At All...the egg sandwich I had for breakfast...maaaybe. But other than that, until dinner...none.

My parents still don't know I drink coffe...but apparentlyyyy...I can't handle it.

I was talking to my crush the other day and the conversation goes as follows (E is the crush)

E: (Ask how I'm doing)

Me:(I say well)

E:(Responds)

Me:<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

E:(Smiley faces)

Me:<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

It's really quite weird... I don't think she knows how much I love her yet.

_____

I was at a family party the other day and EVERYONE GIVES ME HUGS......I DON'T LIKE PHYSICAL CONTACT WHEN PEOPLE DON'T ASK FIRST. And nooo one asskkssssss. BUT! One of my older cousins came up to me when we were leaving (after I had got....hugged way to many times) She askes "Do you do hugs?" AND  IF MY PARENTS WEREN'T STANDING THERE I WOULD HAVE SAID "no, not really." And politelly shaken her hand.

Speaking of shaking hands, the new splatfest came out and it's What's Your Go-To Greeting, Hand Shake, Fist Bump, Hug. CAN YOU GUESS WHICH ONE I CHOSE. Yes, Handshake.

Anyways. I'm going to the mall tmrw with a friend and I have no money, does anyone know how to ask for money from your parents and recive the money you asked for?
