New poetry competition!

Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

New poetry competition!

New poetry competition!

It's really just continuing the last one, but I don't think a whole lot of people are checking that thread anymore. So here goes--

The new theme is music! You can write about how music makes you feel, or what it is. You can write about a musical instrument, or playing in part of an ensemble... or Hamilton...

Anyway, be creative, and have fun!

(I will be judging on Wednesday the nineteenth of October, so please have them submitted before then :)

The topic is drowning, right? I'll post something! I probably won't win. This just came off of the top of my head. But whatever!

~~~
Can't you hear me?
I'm calling out for you!
Help, can't you hear?!
The salt is parching my throat- hurry!
I haven't got much time left.
The water is filling up my lungs- fast!
I'm being dragged down, my legs are numb,
Why can't anyone hear me?
My head can't stay up much longer-
My hands can't keep waving forever!
Why aren't you coming? I thought you would,
After all, you did say you loved me- not anymore?
Please, I need help, please, don't just run away.
Don't just stand there, for goodness' sake,
Do something! I need you! Right. Now.
Yes, now. The water's pulling me- oh, now I'm under.
And yet you still don't come? Oh, what else could I expect?
I shouldn't have done that, yet it's too late.
I told you not to come- it's not your fault.
It's just- I've changed my mind, and now it's too late.
Oh, well. Good-bye, then, I'll see you when you die.
~~~

Oh, wow, this is so bad. I just made it up as I went along!

That's actually pretty good. I myself just make up my own poetry as I'm moving along, then go back once to revise it.

Here's my first draft. It's based off of the book Thornghost by Tone Almhjell. It's pretty fantastic; I definitely reccommend it. My poetry is so amateurish.

We rowed across the moonlight lake,

The three of us,

Sebastifer,

And

The cage.

Water fills the fragile boat

We bail it out

As we did before

But

No hope.

My friends escaped, swam to shore

But I did not

The cage went under

And

I followed.

I could never let it sink

I must get it

Safely away

But

It's stuck.

My breath is slipping away

I need the cage

I need to live

Can't

Leave it.

Strong jaws fasten around me

Sebastifer

Drags me upward

To

The surface.

I'm alive but I am lost

I am alone

Sebastifer

Is

Gone...

My heart has drowned with my dog

The cage will haunt me

Until I die

I

Am

Thornghost.

Rain

Steel carcass, isn't it

Grand, gianificent

Disonnence is now the song

Your rain shall follow 'fore long.

Steal corpses, wouldn't you,

Plans never all full-truth

Dishonesty the game is played

Dreams never to be made.

Cold rain be,

Drowning me.

(Sorry that doesn't make much sense. This poem is told from the perspective of some sort of omniscient being at the bottom of the ocean when the Titanic sank, speaking to death)
