New poetry competition!

Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

New poetry competition!

New poetry competition!

It's really just continuing the last one, but I don't think a whole lot of people are checking that thread anymore. So here goes--

The new theme is music! You can write about how music makes you feel, or what it is. You can write about a musical instrument, or playing in part of an ensemble... or Hamilton...

Anyway, be creative, and have fun!

(I will be judging on Wednesday the nineteenth of October, so please have them submitted before then :)

Alright, everyone! IT'S FRIDAY!!!!! I've just read through all of the poems and they are so beautiful. Kestrel is so right to say that I'm going to have a hard time judging. Now, I'm in the middle of English class right now, but I promise you that the results will be in sometimes tonight. Any last second poems are accepted, for the next hour. Urgh why do you all have to be such good writers????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, apologies for the delay, but the results are in!

In third place, we have...... Rose Bud! I've always had a love for writing like that. Two peple separate, yet together somehow. I'm not sure how to explain it with words. It was beautiful, yet meaningful.

In second place is... Cho Chang! I love the style/ format of your writing. I've always had a soft spot for poems that have multiple voices, and you staged your beautifully. The story behind it was sad, but it ended in love. I'm a sucker for that type of story.

And, in first place....  Abigail S! The poem told a story that unfurled in front of my eyes and made me feel they way the characters feel. When writing is able to do that for me, then the writer has successfully exeeded my expectations.

Honourable mention.... Gared! I enjoyed looking at your creative take on poetry. It was colourful, and madew me sort of think of a whirlwind, taking someone to whatever end.

Congratualtions to everyone who participated! I realy did have a hard time choosing the top three, and wish that everyone could have won. I look forward to writing about the next topic, which shall be chosen by Abigail!

Ohmygosh, I wasn't expecting to win! Thank you so much!

The new prompt is "drowning". A shipwreck? An accident with a pool floaty? Or maybe explore the other ways you can drown, like in someone's eyes.

Cool! Here's my entry:

The Drowning of the Sun

Flames of fury, burning bright

Lick the water at twilight.

Orange and red, like fire alight

On water's surface, edge of night.

The ball of fire ever sinks,

Lower, still lower, to water's brink.

With watery reflections of yellow and pink,

The water is smooth, without a kink.

The sun surely soon will go,

The night will come; the winds will blow.

And all the while the stars will glow,

Because the darkness is their foe.

The sunlight is gone,

The dark still lives on,

It's drowned; now the moon is the only one.

But the sun is not dead, it will arise once again at the dawn.

Hope you like it! And this is the 101st comment! YAY! So that means, Abigail, yours was the hundredth! Congrats!

Aaaand, here is The Angel's Heiress! It's funny, because this poem was actually made awhile ago, for Ruwen, and I thought it would work pretty well! Hope y'all enjoy!

“The Angel’s Heiress:

Cursed with Power.

Made anew in it.

Death must be

allied,

or

killed.

A decision must be made

or

all will drown

in

Tears and Blood.

Yes.

Tears and Blood,

in

all will drown.

A decision must be made,

or

killed;

or allied.

Death must be

made anew in it.

Cursed with Power,

The Angel’s Heiress.”
