Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

Poetry Competition III

Poetry Competition III

Someone, I think it was Rosebud, made the first two, and now they're dead, so I'll make a new one. I think I won that last one, so I'll post the topic. You write a poem on that topic then the winner gets to chose the next topic! And please don't let this die!

Okay, the topic is: Write about magic. Write about something magical, or some faraway magical land. Write about witches and dragons, fairies and talking animals. Write about real-life magic, or sad-cursing magic, or maybe even everyday-unnoticed magic. Write your best poem about magic, whatever you think it is!

0.0 That's so good, Abigail!

Awe, thanks! It's partly true but not quite, since I exaggerated the story to fit the theme better. The bit about the hypothetical roleplay powers and my friend and I helping him make them up actually happened, but I invented that everyone got water. In reality, Georgia got invisibility. :P

That is such a cool idea, Abigail! I love your poem!

Laughing, babbling --

crying, stormy waves.

My mind is akin to water.

Drip, drop.

Pitter patter, torrential weather.

My mind is akin to water.

Gushing, roaring.

Seeking to drown,

my mind is akin to water.

My mind is akin to water.

Seeking to drown,

gushing, roaring.

My mind is akin to water.

Pitter patter! Torrential weather.

Drip. Drop.

My mind is akin to water.

Crying stormy waves.

Laughing, bubbling.

Awesome poems, everyone! I can't believe I got second place!

Congrats, Rose bud. I was trying to write a poem about water, but it got really off topic... I might try to write another one later =).

Results are in! I am completely well for the first time since Saturday night:):):) sorry for the long absense.

Winner: Clouded Leopard! Your poem had great rythem and a strong lesson! What a gem :):)

Runner-up: Moonlight! It took a few stanzas for the flow of the poem to get started (I thought), but once it did, I could picture the flowing cycle in my head. Great job!

Honorable Mention: Cho Chang! Loved the line "my mind is akin to water."

OHMYGOSH!! I--can't believe it! I thought Cho would definitely win with her awesome poem! Thank you so, so, so much, Rose Bud!

The next theme will be: the nature of... nature! How it affects humans and itself.

Well, I originally wrote this about water, but it relates to the natural theme as well.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have ascended the steep stairs,
Now listen to an old, old song.
Weathers the worn rock away
From earthy cares,
Seems something unknown to say,
And wafts withered leaves along.
But what shall do the same for me, mere
Child of the mortal man?
I am not as strong as stone, or near
To peace of mind or pureness. And
What waterfall can wash away like rock away my fear?
Ice cold fear drowns.
Rain and wind swirling 'round.
Hurricane's temper.
