Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

Poetry Competition III

Poetry Competition III

Someone, I think it was Rosebud, made the first two, and now they're dead, so I'll make a new one. I think I won that last one, so I'll post the topic. You write a poem on that topic then the winner gets to chose the next topic! And please don't let this die!

Okay, the topic is: Write about magic. Write about something magical, or some faraway magical land. Write about witches and dragons, fairies and talking animals. Write about real-life magic, or sad-cursing magic, or maybe even everyday-unnoticed magic. Write your best poem about magic, whatever you think it is!

Tears

The night before

The last day

Of camp

We did a special Havdalah

And I cried

I cried

I cried until I got in bed

And I still remember it

Because camp is my favorite place to be

That night was proof

Every time I think of camp

My eyes tear up

I miss it

And that night was proof

Those tears were proof

-------------

Sorry, I know that this poem is horrible. But, it's about something that I care about-camp. Yeah, I miss it sooo badly.

P.S. Admins, last time I posted a poem, you took out the spaces in between lines. Can you please try to leave the spaces this time? Thanks!

Stormy

Gray skies

Misty rain

Falls lightly

Out the window

Math class

Takes forever

Finally

It’s over

School’s over

Backpacks

Lockers

Don’t get your homework wet

Outside

Running

Don’t slip on the sports court

Wait.

There’s a volleyball.

Where?

There.

In the bush.

Oh.

There?

I’m gonna get it.

Okay.

Passing

Setting

People come

Hi.

Can I join you?

Sure.

I want to try this!

History

If what once was is what I will it,

Everything began of late.

Alexander not great,

Elizabeth not first--

There only is what in which I am versed.

But though be but me and my thoughts, still it

Has a start. Memory springs back until it

Down vague stairs slowly steps;

And in my mother's arms down them I ride,

Bound out of where I'd always slept,

And into a new home thus changed the tide.

But with such import gladly I'm not cursed.

No, let those lazy lies just slip aside;

And tell the world's true history--

The smallest part of which is me.

Yes! MORE POETRY!

Moth Wings

Warm bodies bump and push and shove

No time to fetch a dropped glove

You keep your head down; you keep your eyes low

No emotion aside from panic you can show.

It's the hallways and stairs that are rushed and a crowd

The varied shouts, laughter, angry jeers are so loud

And you've got no time to see who else might be there

A friend or an enemy, something you love, hate or care.

But I've seen, if you stop, push off to the side.

Let the crowd melt around, brush you off to the side.

If you look near the window, you see the most quiet of things

A single flutter of moth wings.
