Okay, here's my

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Quotes!
Okay, here's my...

Okay, here's my first book quote:

"Only two hours," she sighed. "That will be half past one; Mother will be at Cousin Ann's, the children at home will have had their dinner, and Hannah cleared all away. I have some lunch, because Mother said it would be a bad beginning to get to the brick house hungry and have Aunt Mirandy have to get me something to eat the first thing.-It's a good growing day, isn't it?"

First one to guess the book gets to post the next quote! Good luck! If no one guesses it by the 20th, I'll post another quote.

Ummm...what's public domain?

Public domain means anyone can use, perform, publish, reprint a work (poem, song, story, play, etc.) without getting permission or paying money for the rights to do so to anyone or group. Generally, the author owns the rights to a work and must grant permission (usually for a fee) for someone else to use the work. Such rights (copyrights) may be held for a certain number of years, depending upon the law, after which the rights go to public domain. Whenever a company wants to reprint a work, they have to carefully research the rights and ask for permission to use the work.

Older works, such as poems by Edward Lear, are usually in public domain.

So I know this is like the easiest quote of all time, even if you have not read the book . . . but I have to memorize this for school, and I'm bored right now. I'll cut out the parts that would make it completley obvious.

"'O ____, _____! wherefore art thou____?/Deny thy father and refuse thy name;/or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love; and I'll no longer be a Capulet./'Tis but thy name that is my great enemy;--/Thou art thyself, though not a Montague./What's Montague? It is nor hand, nor foot./Nor arm, nor face, nor any part /belonging to a man. O, be some other name!/What's in a name? That which we call a rose /by any other name would smell as sweet;/So_____ would , were he not _____ call'd/Retain that dear perfection which he owes/Without that title:--_____, Doff thy name;/And for that name, which is no part of thee,/ Take all myself.'"

*____ is a name, the same name each time that if I were to include would completley give it away.

K maybe I lied. It is a bit hard w/ the name cut out.

If I guess all the old ones, without looking at the answers, can I go, or should I wait for someone else to post one I can guess?

I'm not sure whose turn it is to go, though, so I think Oregano can post her book quote. TOP!

I just wanted to mention that today I found out that the "infinite number of monkeys" quote from another thread that no-one could guess was from The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. I don't remember whose it was, but it's an amazing book so far.

Goody goody! "Your eyes look like you've been reading Freud."  I hope that isn't a misquote.  It might be "studying Freud."

I don't know. I know I've never seen that quote, so I don't know what book it is from.
