Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Quotes!
Okay, here's my...

Okay, here's my first book quote:

"Only two hours," she sighed. "That will be half past one; Mother will be at Cousin Ann's, the children at home will have had their dinner, and Hannah cleared all away. I have some lunch, because Mother said it would be a bad beginning to get to the brick house hungry and have Aunt Mirandy have to get me something to eat the first thing.-It's a good growing day, isn't it?"

First one to guess the book gets to post the next quote! Good luck! If no one guesses it by the 20th, I'll post another quote.

Elizabeth M., yes, that was okay. I probably would've ended up doing that soon anyways. Analesia, you can go next! Great guess, by the way!

*screams excitedly* I actually won for once!  Okay...

"It's the U.  U for understand...no, that's not right.  It's U for under.  Under-maybe the painting is hidden beneath something."

I can give hints until you get it.

It was to me. I've read CV, but I didn't think I'd ever even heard the quote.

You should; it's quite good. I don't even like mysteries, but I loved this. Petra's a great character.

Detc says naby. Nay, baby? he disagrees. That's fine, but I'm not a baby...

What's it about??

I don't remember it well, but it's a mystery about a girl named Petra and a boy named Calder. It involves a painting. Petra is awesome and loves writing; Calder is good at geometry and loves pentominoes... And that's about all I remember, but it's much better than it sounds.

I'll check it out! ZNZ! It's your turn!

Petra and Calder both have dreams about a woman in yellow.  Then they hear that a famous Vermeer painting (Vermeer was a prolific Dutch artist, in case you didn't know) was recently stolen... and that it was of a woman in a yellow and ermine shawl.  So they take their dreams as a sign, and go to find it.  They follow false leads, and have adventures, and eat blue M&Ms.  It's a pretty good book.

One question. Does anyone even know what pentominoes are for? I made a set out of cardboard, but I don't really know what they are used for.
