Okay, here's my
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Book Quotes!
Okay, here's my...
Okay, here's my first book quote:
"Only two hours," she sighed. "That will be half past one; Mother will be at Cousin Ann's, the children at home will have had their dinner, and Hannah cleared all away. I have some lunch, because Mother said it would be a bad beginning to get to the brick house hungry and have Aunt Mirandy have to get me something to eat the first thing.-It's a good growing day, isn't it?"
First one to guess the book gets to post the next quote! Good luck! If no one guesses it by the 20th, I'll post another quote.

THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY BY TRENTON LEE STEWART! I LOVE THOSE BOOKS! Sorry for the excessive caps-locking. Quote 1 is from Book 1, and Quote 2 is from Book 3. I didn't recognize the first one, but the second one sounded familar.

Well, I guess you're next WritingWarrior!

OK! Let's see here....*hunts down library book stash*
"I don't believe in magic," Mack said.
"Oh? Then how is it that you converse with an image in a mirror?"

I know I'm not really part of this thread, but I wanted to post 1 quote, and if no one wants to guess it then that's fine, but if you do then go ahead. Sorry for intruding, but I REALLY just wanted to post this one thing. :)
We were just kids, facing evil magicians, demons, monsters, spirits, and the eternal lord of chaos. In the plus column, I had a cranky sister, a sword, a baboon, and a griffin with a personality disorder. I wasn't liking those odds.

@ a bookworm
That's from The Kane Chronicles: The Throne of Fire
Ugh, The Mysterious Benedict Society!!! How did I not know that?!
WritingWarrior, I can't see your post yet, but when I can, I'll post again.

Um... *is guessing* I have never read this, but Bartimus (however you spell it)? And, Bookworm, you can join whenever you want except that it's better to wait for the guesser (The person who guessed the last quote) to put up a quote... No problem, though! :-)
(July 14, 2011 - 10:01 am)
Yes, WritingWarrior is correct. Except for one thing...yes, the last quote was from the third book (The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma), but, no, the first quote was not from the first book. It, too, was from the third book. But you still got it right. :-) So you may go next if you like. We could probably have two quotes going on at once...
Lizzy, have you read the Mysterious Benedict Society series before? Does it still sound familiar? :-)
Bookworm, is that quote from a Percy Jackson book?
(July 14, 2011 - 11:22 am)
I think it was from Book 1, though- wasn't the Whisperer supposed to have a strange toneless voice?
*goes to Google books*
*realizes that Google books has cut that chapter*
I don't know, Princess Pea. I still remember something about "the Whisperer's voice wasn't nice, wasn't mean....what is your name? said the strange toneless voice...."
OH WAIT! That WAS from Book 3! Because (Spoiler Alert-MAJOR Spoiler Alert!) they put Constance in the Whisperer to learn about her past! OK, that makes sense! Maybe it was in both books....
Sorry for all the ranting,
Writing Warrior

Oh, The Mysterious Benidict Society! That's supposed to be really good. I should read that...
(July 15, 2011 - 10:32 am)
Analesia got it right, it's from Throne of Fire, 2nd book in The Kane Chronicles.
(July 15, 2011 - 12:12 pm)
I would type a quote in, but WritingWarrior got a quote right before me... should we both type in a quote?
(July 15, 2011 - 2:16 pm)
Hey guys.... do you mind if I join in?
(July 15, 2011 - 10:10 pm)
Of course we don't mind! :) Anyone can guess. You have to guess a quote correctly before you can submit a new one, though.
(July 16, 2011 - 4:09 pm)
Tiffany-Sure, you can join! :-)
Analesia-Hmmm...Okay, you can post a book quote of your own. Then we'll have two quotes going at once. It might give some of us a better chance to guess the quotes, and, also, we'll have more chances to have more quotes, so it'll go quicker.
WritingWarrior-Oh, I guess you're right. I didn't even think about the fact that the Whisperer would have said the same thing in the first book. I checked, though, and I don't think that they use the same wording. Good point, and good guess!
