Anybody else reading/has read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children?

I read it and detested it. I thought it would be an amazing mystery/fantasy story, but it ended up being a teen romance story. I was very annoyed. The photos felt less like a part of the story and felt more like random last minute additions. For instance, a couple of photos of children seemed like great story elements but the children were never mentioned or mentioned just barely. The romance took over way too much of the story as well.

Iknow, right! I read the first half or so, and then stopped reading it because there was nothing about the children (the reason why i got it).

A more accurate title for it: 'some 16 year old's love for his grandfather's 80 year old pyromaniac ex.'

I actually thought it was rather interesting.  I didn't see much of the romance, although I do agree that some of the characters weren't used very much.

I'm reading three different books at the same time and two of them are from Chatterboxer's recommendations.

Theo made me want to read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

Joe Dosie Doe made me want to read The Wizard of Oz series.

I just wanted to read the Sphinx's Queen.

Before you go to the trouble of buying Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, let me just sum up what Ruby M. and I agreed on.

Instead of being an awesome fantasy/mystery thing with creepy kids, it's a stupid teen romance thing with creepy kids who are mentioned like twice in the whole book.

On a different note, The Wizarrd of Oz=AMAZING (although the movie 'Oz the Great and Powerful=bad)

Interesting. Don't worry though, I just borrowed Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children from the library.

I just finished the book this morning. I do wish it had mentioned the other kids more, but I thought it was an okay book.

I think I'd classify the book as a supernatural genre because of all the unnatural things the kids can do.

I'm reading Magyk by Angie Sage, and I just finished The Maze Runner by James Dashner.

Angie Sage's writing style drives me nuts. She says stuff like "Something interesting happened." and then goes on to explain what the interesting thing was. Why can't you just say what happened and forget the "something interesting happened"?

The Maze Runner trilogy is pretty decent. I particularly like the prequel, The Death Cure.
