Chatterbox: In This Month's Issue
White Elephant Game!
Hey everyone!! The holiday season is rapidly approaching (or maybe it’s already here? that’s what the stores that have been blasting Christmas songs since November first seem to think, anyway) so I thought I’d bring back this game. I’m just going to copy and paste the rules from the last White Elephant Game (posted by Partridge on TM).
Here's how this will work:
1. Under an alias, post a description of the wrappings of an imaginary gift by December 1st.
3. After December 1st, we will choose gifts in the order of description posted. I’ll post a list of the order we’ll be choosing in :)
4. When someone has chosen your gift, reply to them revealing what it is. It could be something real, such as a poem or drawing, or something imaginary, like a puppy or a jar of stardust. Also, reveal your identity!
5. Once you receive your gift, respond with a thank-you! That's only polite! :)
RULES:
- Post your gift description by December 1st
- Post under an alias, not your CBer name.
- Wrap your gift creatively!
- Don't reveal your own identity until someone claims your gift. If the gift you choose turns out to be a picturing or something else that requires your CBer identity, you can make an exception.
- Remember to post!
- Have fun!
I'll post my gift when this thread shows up :)

I HATH BEEN SUMMONED~
My gift is an inspirational quote! "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." Idk who said it, but I feel like it's nice and cheerful and just motivational :)
As for revealing who I am... haha, nope never, I shall remain forever a mysteryyyyy

I choose storm's gift :D

My gift is a movie reccomendation! It's called A Furry Little Christmas, fitting in with the general season. Very fun, light, apt for people of all ages - there are no swear words in it that I recall; it's one of those fun romcom movies. Hope you enjoy it :)
And for something a bit quicker, I just want to add in a song rec or two - "She Had Me At Heads Carolina", by Cole Swindell, and "Tell Me Why", by Wynonna Judd :')

Thank you, storm/Amethyst! The movie sounds cool, and I definitely check out those songs when I get a chance :D

You pick up the gift, the old newspapers crinkling beneath your touch, and carefully undo the shiny blood-red ribbon. You remove the card tucked beneath the ribbon, and then slit the open ivory envelope.
Happy holidays!, the card reads in tight cursive. I hope your holidays are filled with steaming cups of aromatic tea (or whatever your favorite hot beverage is), warm laughter, and hopefully some snow, if you're into that sort of thing :) To go along with your gift, here's a vaguely winter/holiday-themed playlist~
Matches by Lor
ivy by Taylor Swift
December 25, 2021: Webb Space Telescope - Launch by Sleeping At Last
Wishful Thinking by LÉON
Runaway by AURORA
Alaska by Maggie Rogers
I hope you like them! Love (/p), pangolin <3
You then move onto the gift, methodically ripping the small pieces of tape that hold the old newspaper in place. It turns out to be an old radio--it's small, just a bit larger than your hand, and made of dark, polished wood, with several shiny metal dials. As you turn it around in your hands, you don't see any way to power it, and yet, it gives your hands a warm, almost magical, sort of tingling sensation, as though it was powered by something other than electricty. Then, a small note falls out of the folds of the newspaper, and you pick it up.
Oh, and by the way, the radio's magical. It requires no power source, and you can make it play whatever you want it to through only your thoughts. Happy holidays! :)
~~~
I apologize if you're more of a ripping-open-the-presents type of person and less of a carefully-unwrapping-them type of person XD
Ooh thank you!! I love ivy by taylor swift, and I'll be sure to give the other songs a listen too. The radio is great! And I am, in fact, more of a carefully-unwrapping-them type of person :)
