Chatterbox: In This Month's Issue
White Elephant Game!
Hey everyone!! The holiday season is rapidly approaching (or maybe it’s already here? that’s what the stores that have been blasting Christmas songs since November first seem to think, anyway) so I thought I’d bring back this game. I’m just going to copy and paste the rules from the last White Elephant Game (posted by Partridge on TM).
Here's how this will work:
1. Under an alias, post a description of the wrappings of an imaginary gift by December 1st.
3. After December 1st, we will choose gifts in the order of description posted. I’ll post a list of the order we’ll be choosing in :)
4. When someone has chosen your gift, reply to them revealing what it is. It could be something real, such as a poem or drawing, or something imaginary, like a puppy or a jar of stardust. Also, reveal your identity!
5. Once you receive your gift, respond with a thank-you! That's only polite! :)
RULES:
- Post your gift description by December 1st
- Post under an alias, not your CBer name.
- Wrap your gift creatively!
- Don't reveal your own identity until someone claims your gift. If the gift you choose turns out to be a picturing or something else that requires your CBer identity, you can make an exception.
- Remember to post!
- Have fun!
I'll post my gift when this thread shows up :)

my gift is in a bag that has been painted and drawn on. watercolors decorate it in beautiful reds and purples and pinks, and all the colors you can imagine. stars have been drawn all over it with a pen; the bag is like a rainbow night sky. the bag shimmers a bit, as though it has been decorated with glitter, and there's a white rose wrapped around the handle.

My gift is wrapped in a shimmering, moving cloud of snowflakes, with icy ribbons tied into frosty patterns. Wanderlust, something about it seems to whisper, though there is no apparent reason for that. The wrappings are constantly morphing from one shape to another, making it impossible to see what it is they hide, and sparkle in a thousand different colors as they whirl in a beam of sunlight. Or is it sunlight...? A tiny, dark green branch of pine is the only unmoving thing on the gift, shining ethereally at the center of the ribbons. This is the gift of frozen forests and the cold north wind swooping down from mountains of snowy streams.

My gift is wrapped in the wind itself. Silvery flashes whirl everlastingly around the gift, letting you catch a glimpse now and again of something golden and glowing, but only a glimpse. The wind seems to be singing to itself, in a fluting, whispery tune of laughter and joy. Tantalizingly, it whirls and whirls, carrying with it snowflakes, pine branches, holly leaves, all merging to form a picture of Christmas happiness. There is a ribbon of silk around it: rich, shimmering, multicolored fabric that calls to you to run your hands over it. When you do, warm tingles rush up your skin, as if you had dipped them in a basin of warm water. By far the most splendid thing about the silk, though, is its color, the color of fiery sunset, gold merging into scarlet and into rose and into clear pale blue at the very ends. It's as if someone had splashed watercolor all over it and let the colors blend... And there is a single jade-colored peacock feather slipped beneath the bow: a talisman of good wishes and luck.

My gift is a small sphere wrapped in the pages of ancient books, written in languages long forgotten and filled with hidden meanings decipherable only to those quiet enough to look. When you stare at it hard enough, you can almost here the voices of people from long, long ago.

My gift is wrapped in wrapping paper with a big red bow tied around it, the wrapping paper has candy canes and gingerbread on it, the gift is quite large.
