White Elephant Game!
Hey everyone!! The holiday season is rapidly approaching (or maybe it’s already here? that’s what the stores that have been blasting Christmas songs since November first seem to think, anyway) so I thought I’d bring back this game. I’m just going to copy and paste the rules from the last White Elephant Game (posted by Partridge on TM).
Here's how this will work:
1. Under an alias, post a description of the wrappings of an imaginary gift by December 1st.
3. After December 1st, we will choose gifts in the order of description posted. I’ll post a list of the order we’ll be choosing in :)
4. When someone has chosen your gift, reply to them revealing what it is. It could be something real, such as a poem or drawing, or something imaginary, like a puppy or a jar of stardust. Also, reveal your identity!
5. Once you receive your gift, respond with a thank-you! That's only polite! :)
RULES:
- Post your gift description by December 1st
- Post under an alias, not your CBer name.
- Wrap your gift creatively!
- Don't reveal your own identity until someone claims your gift. If the gift you choose turns out to be a picturing or something else that requires your CBer identity, you can make an exception.
- Remember to post!
- Have fun!
I'll post my gift when this thread shows up :)

Chapter 1 The Mystery of Twindle Twaddle
There were once three boys and they were walking to their dorm room from school on Altoids Street to a school named Twindle Twadle Middle School on Mango Street. It was pretty late but they were used to it, most schools only went until 2:30 but this school was different. It was a boarding school, so they had to sleep there and they were exhausted. Every day they would see an abandoned mansion and One day they thought, “We will venture inside that house”. Until two of the boys caught Covid. Only the boy named Science didn’t get sick because he knew the proper things to do when people were getting sick. Such as: wearing a face mask, staying within 6 feet, and using hand sanitizer. So Science went to school, but in his 1st period Mrs.Karmen Britt’s class, the teachers were telling everyone to go home because of the terrible Covid 19 virus!
A couple days later Science was so bored that he decided that he was going to get his friends to go into that abandoned house. As they started walking to the new house they heard a creepy laugh coming from behind them. It ran throughout the entire forest, and left a ring in their ears, they whipped their heads around but there was no one and nothing there. They started to get a little freaked out because you know the whole creepy forest thing. They turned around and started to walk off the path but when they took a step they were in the middle of the path. They took another step, on the porch. They took one more step and they were inside the building and it revealed that the inside of the house was utterly disgusting! They tried to open it but it wouldn’t budge! They kept trying to open the door but eventually they knew that they weren't going to get out so they continued on. The only form of light that they had was probably the oldest light bulb they'd ever seen. They followed the flickering light all the way down to the end of the hall and there were just some plants, they started searching for a light in the room when Math hit his head on a string. It was a light bulb! Math pulled it to reveal a mound of dirt in a wheelbarrow . Math and Social Studies started to dig it up. And they started to smell a rotting skunk smell coming from the wheelbarrow, when they got to the bottom they found a skeleton! They started to run down the hallway when they heard a creepy laugh, a laugh that ran throughout the entire house, a laugh that left a ringing in their ears. “You will never escape!” said the voice.
Science didn’t know what to do, he didn’t know what to think, so he ran. He ran as fast as he possibly could. He didn't stop until he was at the front doors, he turned his head but no one was there, not even his brothers. Then he heard the laugh, the one that ran throughout the entire mansion, the one that left a ring in his ears, and when he looked behind him, he saw a very tall man wearing a black coat with the hood up blocking his entire face. The man took a step, then two, then three! And he eventually got close enough to where Science could see his whole body. The man reached up and pulled his hood down, and you woul never guess what Science saw next.
Chapter 2
The Lore Of Mango Street
Hi my name is Kaci and I live on Mango Street. I have a neighbor, her name is Karen and she is really weird. She won’t let me sell mangos on my street. We have lots of mangoes in our neighborhood. That's why this place's name is Mango Street, but back to the story my neighbor Karen won't let me sell mangoes because she doesn't like them. Karen says she’s allergic, but Karen has 5 mango trees in her backyard. I think she just doesn't want us selling mangos because her son sells strawberries and people like mangos more than strawberries. So I decided to grab the biggest mango I had and throw it at her clothesline and her clothes went flying everywhere and she was very confused, but she never found me because I hid it under the strawberries and the strawberries never sold. Plus she got arrested a few days later for something. I also heard something about her stealing mangoes from her neighbors even though she is “allergic” so she deserves it! Anyway… after Karen got arrested, she was gone for a few weeks and we decided to ransack her house, then her son, the one who was selling strawberries, joined us because he didn’t like his mother.
Chapter 3
The Blackout On Mango Street
Lights around the town were going out left and right, they would just all of the sudden turn off. And it wasn’t from the light bulbs just going out, it was from somebody. But the only person who had a suspicion was Shelby Hutsell, and she was going to get to the bottom of it. She had some suspicions but she didn’t know who to start on. She lived on Mango Street where the kids play and cars drive by. It was all peaceful and quiet until one Saturday afternoon in October when Shelby heard this strange sound when she was watering her Begonias outside, and she turned around and saw a random person named Martha, the neighborhood weirdo. They’ve never met before but Shelby had heard that she was kind of wacky. Shelby was starting to freak out because she is creepily staring at her and won’t stop.
She turned and looked her dead in the eyes and just smiled for 17 seconds, then… she screamed, she screamed at the top of her lungs! Then Shelby opened her eyes to see that she was still there, unphased. She returned to watering her begonias and she felt a tap on her shoulder and a weird laugh, a laugh that ran throughout the entire . When she looked behind her just to find a tall man dressed in a black suit tilting his head down at her. When she got a closer look she realized that he had no face. The street lights went dark, the man wrapped his arm around her and she screamed as loud as she could. The man said in a raspy voice “You will never escape!”, and Shelby was not seen for a while.
Chapter 4
Neighbors
My name is Karsen Young, and I live on Mango Street. My neighbor, Ernie, was a pain in my butt. Every time he drove, he parked in front of my house, and it made me very mad. Us mangos don't tolerate disrespect. So, I went to his house and told him to move his car, or else he would feel my wrath. He said he wouldn't, so I said, "okay".
But anyway, that was a couple of months ago, now I have a new problem. My new neighbor, Karen moved in, and she thinks it's funny to steal my mangoes that I eat/sell. But I can't let her get away with this, so I told her to give them back. Then she starts going into this sob story. Also her son was always trying to sell strawberries but was never successful because me and Kaci are always selling mangoes so the strawberries never sell.
Chapter 5
More Neighbors
We had to move from our house on Pinnolia Avenue to Mango Street, the new house was bright yellow and looked like it was from the 1950s. There were mango trees everywhere, no wonder it’s called Mango Street. Mom said it was temporary but I know better than that… There were children across the street running around, they looked about my age, they looked over at our house and I waved, they waved back. Most people think this neighborhood is perfectly normal… but it’s really not, I swear this place is haunted. Yesterday I swear I saw a ghost in the upstairs window of the house across the street. We have a neighbor who lives 2 houses down, her name is Karen. I found that out from my neighbor next door who’s name is Shelby. The kid that lives across the street name is Tyler and he seems nice. I’m excited to start hanging out with my new neighbors except for Karen of course. I saw everyone today except for Shelby, she seems to have disappeared… I hope she’s ok, she was really nice. Today I’m going to hang out with Kaci, Karsen, and Tyler and tell them what’s going on.
Chapter 6
Nightmare on Mango Street
Once there was a man named Fredward Krueget and he would shake people's hands. As he shakes peoples hands in their dreams, their hands actually get shaken by him in real life. One day he disappeared, and everybody’s hands were shaken no more. No-one knew what had happened to him, but one year he came back for revenge… After a few years Fredward was back, and this time he came for revenge… he decided to go on a hand shaking spree, but he kept shaking hands, and terrifying people even more. People were terrified of him and he loved that. He decided to knock on their doors in the middle of the night at exactly 3:01 A.M, every night he knocks on someone else's door, and they scream at the sight of him!
Fredward decided to throw a party, a big party that would last all night on Friday the 13th of October in 1843 at 3:01 A.M., he didn’t know if anyone would come socialize with him, since he knew a lot of people were scared of him. So he went in disguise as an adult from the next door neighborhood, at least that’s where he said he was from. He invited them all, he put flyers up all over the neighborhood for days beforehand people were talking about the big neighborhood block party, and that it was going to be amazing!
Everyone on Mango Street was ready for the party! They were knocking on the door at exactly 3:01 A.M. No-one thought that it was Friday the 13th and that it was 3:01 A.M. which was when Fredward always knocked on their doors.
I hope you enjoy your gift!!
