Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Regular poetry thread

Regular poetry thread (because I'm tired of not editing my poems)

This is exactly what it sounds like! A thread to post poetry. I'm excited to read all of your work!

I don't remember if I posted this BUT

Got the giggles

Captured the laughs

Doin the wiggles

Just when the fun

Hits its peak

The dreaded hiccups came

That sneak

It makes your breath hitch

It jumps your chest

You sound like a squeak toy

That unwelcome guest

You hold your breath

Count to ten

Nothing… nothing…

Hic! Again?

Drown yourself in a glass of water

Shift in your chair

Hiccups make you

Fly up in the air

No hicc-downs

Those could be fine

Hiccups are bothersome

They push you to the line

Deep breath in, let it out

Smile and grin,

Give a shout!

You chased those hiccups away

All by yourself

You saved the day!

A giggle is birthed

Then another

Soon you roll around in mirth

As you straighten and stand

Asking, “who’s the man?”

H

 I

  C

   C

    U

     P

      ! They come again.

I feel as light as a feather

Dancing on a breeze

Whenever you are near me

So I’m asking, please,

Stay with me,

You make things right

You whisper sweet nothings to me

And hold me protectively all through the night

You are the ray of sunshine

On a cloudy day

You light up my world

You chase the gloom away

You are my silver lining

On a storm cloud

You are strong and yet gentle

You make my heart beat loud

The look in your eyes

When you gaze at me

Makes me feel like everything

Like it’s just me you can see

Your lips are so soft

Your kiss

Sends sparks through me

Making pure bliss

Your touch is like fire

Both warm and burning

Both comforting but

Both warning

The oath of forever

Twines together with our voices

We vow to be together

Making good choices

You are the only star

On a dark moon night

Shining and shimmering

Always bright

I pray that we’ll stay

Forever

This way

Me in your arms

Two hearts with the same beat

Two minds alike

Two lovers winning the forever feat

For all of time.

Loud notes envelope

Dry eyes usher me asleep

Deep silence brings tears

Splotch of memory

Awaits the master of all

If it's even real

I'm trying to write a poem right now from a random text generator (it gave me three words to use in a poem: melody, blur, and prevent). I have a hook so far, but not really anything else.

Whispers of heartbreak echo in the dark

Lonely melodies, bring a light kind of spark

today I’m thinking about Laika

the first dog in space.

I’m wondering if the streets of

Moscow would have killed her faster,

wondering if she was excited to fly

and if she knew there was emptiness

and dust and light hidden above the sky.

wondering if she ever saw space and

if she did was it frightening or did

she think it was beautiful.

wondering if she knew her food

was poison, if she could smell it

and was afraid. wondering who

plays fetch with her now that she

sleeps in between constellations.

wondering if I’ve ever seen her while

watching the night sky.

but mostly i wonder if she was

petted and fed treats and told she was a

good dog

and if she knew what love was.

From the branches, a flutter of wings

Shadows swoop down from the rooftops and we

All have to turn

Quick!,

To watch

*cries*

this is the most poignant poem I've read in ages. it's so sad but oddly beautiful. Poor Laika, I hope she's in heaven now.

So Far

Only when you

Fall do you realize

Just how high you

Walked so far
