Here's my charrie (a revised version of one of my AEs)!

Name: Onyx Crystal

Pronouns (the weirder the better heh!): He/fae/they (no preference)

Gender: Literally whatever. They don't care and have never cared. Whatever they feel like. They sometimes dress super masc or femme or anywhere in the middle. 

Age (anything from like 6 or 7 to maybe 20 is okay): 18

Species they are now (note: all characters will start out as humans from the real world for simplicity) Human

Appearance: Split black and white dyed hair, medium toned brown skin, dark eyes, freckles, lots of cheap plastic jewelry, strange thrift store mish-mash of clothes, boots, sometimes overdone/colorful makeup.

Personality: Extroverted, loud, friendly, sarcastic, mischevious, and tbh kind of a jerk sometimes (self-serving, can take jokes too far, insensitive, etc). However due to this being mostly a result of their background, being in a more positive environment could certainly influence faer to improve themself. In fact, sometimes they think that deep down they do want to change but don't think that they can.

What is the main or most influential problem they struggle with? (Any problem is okay really. It doesn’t have to be deep, but it can be. A mix preffered): Deeply selfish and always thinks of himself first even when it's with someone he cares about.

Are you okay with your character being portrayed in a negative manor (I need at least a few who can be): Yes! Fae is not the best person lol

Backstory (can be as simple or complex as you want, but nothing that wouldn’t be at least pretty CB appropriate if i go into depth): Grew up pretty much alone, neglected by parents and fell in with a not so great group of people, which is where he gets his not so great sense of humor from. 

What is your character’s outlook on life? Cynical? Optimistic?: Nothing matters and nothing has ever mattered. Fate? Never heard of her. 

Things they like, comfort items, hobbies, etc: Fae likes ping pong, eating, binging bad quality horror movies, reading comics, and goats.

Anything they need to have with them/luggage: Just a bunch of changes of clothes and jewelry.

Comfort/liked foods: Pop tarts, flavor blasted gold fish, brownies.

Things they dislike: People who are too 'good', cilantro.

How much are you okay with me changing them?: This is already a changed version of him so do whatever you want

Would they like an animal companion?: Goat?? Please?? (her name should be Billy)

What is their opinion on stars and books?: He loves making up random facts about astrology just for funsies (ex. 'Sorry, I can't eat gluten, it's because I'm a Capricorn' (he's not a Capricorn)). They like books but prefer graphic novels or comics.

Did they like their old life?: No

Other: Can't wait for this ahhhhh!!!

i just realized how much Hideto is going to hate Onyx and how much chaos that's going to cause because he's Hideto of course and he can't let anything slide when it could cause commotion and oh dear this will be fun

I think I understand what you mean (I've met people like that irl actually :,)). Try this. You can tweak her however you need to; I'm less attached to her than I am to Johnny

And yes I'd love to see Johnny end up some sort of big brother character!

Appearance: They are tall, with long blonde hair. She has strange amber colored eyes. Ve has light skin. She enjoys wearing more dressy clothing and often appears in sundresses. 

Personality: she's either your best friend or ignores you. If she likes you, they will attach herself to you and be super friendly and cool. If ve doesn't like you, she'll ignore you and sometimes leave you out of things. A lot of this is because despite the fact that she acts very confident, they are very insecure on the inside.

What is the main or most influential problem they struggle with? (Any problem is okay really. It doesn’t have to be deep, but it can be. A mix preffered): she's super insecure (though she'd never show it) and projects these insecurities onto some other people; they often are cold towards these people

There was nobody to lean on, and nobody ever taught her what a loyal, stable friend is supposed to look like. If you need more details lmk 

What is your character’s outlook on life? Cynical? Optimistic?: ve believes the only person they can trust is herself. They think of herself as a realist but is kinda pessimistic 

Things they like, comfort items, hobbies, etc: they'd never admit it, but they're super comforted by pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, and the like. She loves art, particularly from the renaissance period, and music.

Anything they need to have with them/luggage: they have one very nice blush colored blanket and two big, fluffy pillows on top of all the necessities 

Comfort/liked foods: strawberry ice cream, lattes, peppermint tea, and warm pumpkin pie are major comfort foods for her <3

Things they dislike: ve doesn't like feeling left behind and hates the idea of making others think she's unimportant. They don't like feeling weak or vulnerable. 

How much are you okay with me changing them?: do what you need to do!

Would they like an animal companion?: I feel like she could benefit from that potentially, so you can totally do that if you want to (although she's kind of a jerk to other people they would never hurt an animal)

What is their opinion on stars and books?: they are appreciative of both, particularly the latter 

Did they like their old life?: no

Other: she's good at remembering small details about others, whether it's to their benefit or not so much. I also made it so that she can remain a jerk throughout the whole story or have a character arc to become a better person. 

sooo i still technically haven't begun. i haven't actually planned the whole thing. But i'm overly excited so let's begin! if i need to start again with a different opening uhhhh this just exists. i definitely should spend more time editing and maybe add a bit more tension or somehow connect the exposition in a more interesting way but i want to get it posted so

Reshinerr

At night I can pretend things never changed, even if the whole reason I’m doing this is because they did.

Technically, the library didn't change that much when Hideto arrived. If it was consistent before, it still is. The wooden walls in the hallways are still the same deep mahogany. The carpet is still soft, made of a black so deep it shimmers when light hits it, its fabric patterned with wispy nebulae and stars that seem to hover above the darkness. And I don’t think the entryway to the part of the Library that actually houses the books has changed in my entire time here. 

And of course, the exact details of the Library rarely stay the same. The rooms in the halls are never the same from one day to the next; what’s one day a collection of pressed flowers might be a void the next. And the furnishings vary from paintings of ice-covered moons to framed slices of glittering agates to dragonfly wings so huge they can’t possibly be real.  

Of course, that part's expected. As far as I can tell, nothing here is real, including me. 

the person who just got here is very real.

They weren’t here yesterday. it was amazing. I had the whole place to myself, from the cavernous library to all the smaller rooms that come and go with the wills of the cosmos. I could read endless books on forests or art, or at least look at the pictures if i was struggling to read that day. I could go through as many sketchbooks as I wanted, and the Library would just set another on my dresser. I could dress in whatever the closet provided, and the Library would help me turn book pages or brush my teeth or get dressed. It was just me and my sketchbook and my stuffies and the stars, and days passed in a soothing rhythm of nothingness.  

So I guess someone had to arrive.

I haven’t talked to him much. I’ve avoided it. But I’ve never liked people. I never know what they’re going to say, if they’re going to be mad, if they’re going to hit. I don’t want to let them see me - let them see what I am, all the things wrong with me, the something that’s wrong with me that’s far deeper than words. 

On the walls, the same detailed gold and iron metalwork holds the same sconces of jarred stars. Most of them are dim for the nighttime, but they still create a faint glow. And though most of the sconces are built into the walls, offering no escape for the stars and constellations trapped inside, the cheap mason jars can open. Some of them hold only tiny voids as their stars wander the halls. The occasional star bobs down the center of the hallway, lighting the area far more than anything else. That happens every night, and sometimes during the day.

Everything looks the same. But with someone else here, it feels entirely different. I need to be vigilant again. and i really just don’t want to.

That’s why I’m heading to the library. There has to be some way to get Hideto out of here. Some way to make this place like it used to be. And if I do it while Hideto’s still asleep, maybe nobody will notice me. 

So I walk into the room of books - and the first thing I hear is arguing.

GloomyBear - it'd be awesome if you'd read along! everyone who wants to is welcome to read and comment or predict what's happening and such, even if they're not in the lodge. But since you commented technically before it's actually started anyway, is there a theme you'd like me to work in anywhere? Like maybe I could have a wolf somewhere. not necessary though, just if you want

Hawkstar, could you answer about Echo Rose? It'd be fine to keep her age but having her be 9 or 10 would still be nice... also Echo Rose is a really cool name

Celine, thanks for all the comments on Chinese food and such! Is fried rice a thing in China/Taiwan (I feel like you might be Taiwanese if i'm right which i might not be but I think there's a whole history there i know nothing about so)? If so, could I work that in?! are there any specific things that make it Chinese if it is? (i like fried rice too much. but i think that's technically more Hawaiian than Japanese... idk) and it sounds like if i have any questions about that you'd be open to them, but double checking that's right. There's already going to be plenty of Japanese Hawaiian (kind of like the mix more than anything) culture in here so it'd be fun to have Chinese culture too! oh, and also there'll probably be tea stuff so if you know anything about that that's more Chinese that could be helpful. you don't have to answer it'd just be fun to work in. and i love the wooden dragon idea :D

Introducing Reshinerr

Reshinerr is hard to properly describe without writing from his perspective but we'll try! *oh nothing just me realizing I never gave him a last name the shame* well i’ll be figuring that out. In the meantime: who is this apparently not really a human? He certainly doesn’t know, and looking at all the basic things i don't know apparently i don't either even though he's like my favorite character and i spend way too much time doing stuff with him.

His pronouns are he/him for now, but I think he might also use co/cos. I don’t know honestly. He’s very much genderqueer though. At some point we might add like moss/mossself, or maybe sprout/sproutself, or some other things. But for now the only certain thing is he/him. I think he'll start using the name Sketch at some point but idk if he hates Reshinerr. idk if it's a very gendered name because i made it up

I still have no idea what his exact mix of races is, but he’s Hawaiian, Japanese, Black, and possibly White :D (yes all of my characters are Asian and queer deal with it XD) I’m not sure if he has dark brown eyes like in the picture or if he has green/grey eyes. I keep going back and forth, partially because it seems like every mixed race character has to have “pretty” (light) eyes, but on the other hand there’s some stuff that i want to go into with the green/grey eyes… it really doesn’t effect this ski lodge though.

He’s very much autistic :D possibly ADHD too but it’s hard to tell because it could kind of be both. Either way he tends to either have no interest in something whatsoever or spend hours making up lore around it. He likes stuffies (especially his world with his stuffies) and plants and forests, and these things basically make up a “bigger” special interest. But he also really likes drawing and art (mostly of plants, forests, and stuffies XD). and for this ski lodge he mostly has joint and muscle pain i guess. Maybe muscle weakness too. It’s not an actual thing, just “throwing a bunch of symptoms into a top hat and letting my cat eat the ones I use” like I got XD (i didn’t actually do the top hat thing) but his speech varies. 

He’s very anxious and doesn’t like people. He does enjoy making jokes, though! Sometimes they make sense to other people. Sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they’ll even have a proper punchline! Which isn’t always intentional. He tends to take random stuff and go with it and make big stories. 

He’s 17 but hates it because people always expect him to act differently than he does. But also it just kind of feels wrong. 

And of course we must introduce Speckle! She’s kind of like an idealized version of Reshinerr in some ways - her flaws are silly, not debilitating. They use she/they, and I’ll probably alternate by sentence??? Reshinerr likes to wrap her around his shoulders. They’re very beat up - their nose is threadbare, and though their fur was soft once it’s mostly pilled and matted at this point. Reshinerr likes the texture though. He tends to talk with her in his head. Reshinerr has a very active imagination, because it’s more interesting than the real world.

Anyway this is long but i adore him so much so here he is! Ignore that the picture has a few semi-major flaws and the picture doesn’t capture the colors very well… i can never take good pictures *sobs* also don't ask what's going on in it i have no idea
