This is everyone’s favorite tour guide, Cato - short for Cat o’ All Worlds, of course. I don’t come into this ski lodge, but I’m from the original book and all, so really. why wouldn’t I enlighten you on this amazing, amazing destination? Welcome to the Library of the Stars! It’s ready for you, whether you are or not.
The Library is fully-stocked with all sorts of amenities. The kitchen is stuffed full of comfort foods - yes, even yours! The vending machine can make anything you ask for, a bakery case is full of items chosen for you personally by the cosmos, and sprinkles of the stars are included for all of your cupcake needs. Not, of course, that you're limited to cupcakes. Oh, and it truly has the best tuna milk i’ve ever tasted… *purring*

...Correct. Apologies. Well, surely you’ll all enjoy the recreation room! From beanbags made from the highest-quality fabric of the cosmos to the bookshelves with carefully-chosen library books and even a catch the fish game, you’ll be sure to enjoy yourself. And guess what? If you catch enough fish you get a treat!

-so naturally your interests are tasteless and dull. Anyway, back to the script. You even get your own room, designed specifically for you by the cosmos themselves! Do note that once you’re here, you may not be able to leave, and disappearances into clouds of smoke, puddles of ink, black holes, etc are frequently reported. But really, from the endless shelves to the ever-changing other rooms, it’s a truly magical destination. Fill out the form today!

Welcome to the Library of the Stars! my character (Reshinerr) is the main character and will have the viewpoint in most scenes. Because of this, most of your characters will primarily be side characters. In addition, I may have to make minor changes to characters as necessary. I will try to keep as much the same as possible, especially for actual AEs and CBers. CAPTCHAs are not allowed, but if desired a few can have animal companions.
While designing your character, please make sure they’re not super similar to another! Similarities are fine - just make sure there’s something different. And if you have the same problem as someone else, you or i can give it a new nuance. Eccentricity is highly appreciated but not necessary. Fantasy and star-themed stuff is best, but one or two can be completely different for fun :P
I will allow up to 10 characters. Please note some will be very superficial. The depth i give each character is only related to what the story needs. One character per person; if there’s not enough, then you can make another.
Please note that this will almost certainly be a dark ski lodge. While there will be little or no graphic violence, there will definitely be themes of mental health issues. I will add a trigger warning for anything major; if anyone has anything in particular they would need that for let me know, but if it’s too much in the ski lodge this might just not be the right one for you.
I will have a few weeks before I post anything to flesh out the most important scenes. But don’t think that means it’ll be weeks of nothing! I might post playlists, art, and unimportant rambles and side quests >:D …or nothing. We’ll see.

as a human - short black hair with purple undersides and blue-ish eyes. 5'6 and has a fashion sense that involves only monotone colors. and stars. lots of them. and silver jewlry.

Are you okay with your character being portrayed in a negative manor (I need at least a few who can be): well i just ask that she's not portrayed as some evil villain. but yes, you can portray her in a more negative manner than usual.
Backstory (can be as simple or complex as you want, but nothing that wouldn’t be at least pretty CB appropriate if i go into depth): well, everyone's born, right? everyone goes through the same... cycle of life? for the most part? yeah. well her problems started really when her ex broke up with ehr and she found herself to be... not quite good enough. so... more people pleasing. chronically online. etc. umm go wild with it!
What is your character’s outlook on life? Cynical? Optimistic?: quite cynical, although she tries to hide it
Things they like, comfort items, hobbies, etc: a light pink alpaca stuffie named strawberry, and a cinnamaroll plushie she uses as a pillow. she likes art and writing and chemistry.
Anything they need to have with them/luggage: the two stuffies and basic hygiene stuff, along with an extensive wardrobe, exactly 2.5 scarves, and 15 randomness kumquats.
Comfort/liked foods: strawberries. and 15 randomness kumquats.
Things they dislike: jerrys. and cherries. and anything coming in the number 14. big loud trees.
How much are you okay with me changing them?: hmm well i mean really go wild with it, as long as she retains her basic traits ... your choice.
Would they like an animal companion? as long as it is a light pink alpaca, yes.
What is their opinion on stars and books? yes, please and thank you.
Did they like their old life? not quite.
Other: personality section here - iolanthe is a people pleaser to the max. she's quite introverted and tries to keep the peace but is also suspicious of everyone and everything. well really go wild with it. your choice as to where she develops... hehe

I'm not 100% sure I'll have time to keep up with this ski lodge, but I will try. As per your request, here's a less quiet character
Name: (if you want I can name your character!!): The Fantastic Johnny October is his stage name, and xe always introduces themself this way; most people just call him Johnny or John, maybe Mr. October if it's a formal occasion. Nobody knows his actual name
Pronouns (the weirder the better heh!): he/they/xe
Gender: sort of a boy? I think he feels sort of disconnected from and uninterested in the concept of gender though
Age (anything from like 6 or 7 to maybe 20 is okay): 19
Species they are now (note: all characters will start out as humans from the real world for simplicity): human
Appearance: messy black hair that doesn't quite reacher their shoulders, olive skin, and dark eyes. Xe has a somewhat unsettling gaze and smile. He likes to wear suits and other fancy clothes that seem like something out of the 1920s. Xe also often appears in a top hat or some other sort of hat. They are more masc in appearance and more likely to wear masculine clothing, but also wears more feminine clothing sometimes
Personality: loud and confident! They act as if everything is some sort of game. He loves attention and impressing others. Xe also loves music and dancing. I would say they are pretty friendly to others; although they are somewhat self-centered it's not in a way that they make fun of or hurt other people so much as that it's just sort of in his nature to think about himself first.
What is the main or most influential problem they struggle with? (Any problem is okay really. It doesn’t have to be deep, but it can be. A mix preffered): hmm I'm not totally sure although I do think they're lacking in attachments to and relationships with other people and despite being friendly and talkative. He doesn't really know how to have a close friend
Are you okay with your character being portrayed in a negative manor (I need at least a few who can be): yep you do what you need to do
Backstory (can be as simple or complex as you want, but nothing that wouldn’t be at least pretty CB appropriate if i go into depth): he was raised at and works in a traveling circus and decided it was time for something new. Out of a pure desire to be as spontaneous as possible, xe ended up here. Perhaps they'll go back to the circus and this is just a vacation, or perhaps it's the end of an era; he's willing to go where life takes him
What is your character’s outlook on life? Cynical? Optimistic?: he acts optimistic, but whether or not they are optimistic on the inside remains to be seen
Things they like, comfort items, hobbies, etc: their favorite top hat and a poster from the circus they work (featuring himself in a spotlight smiling) are his main comfort items. They love talking about his adventures being in the circus and show. Xe's great at most of the stuff one who spent a lot of time in a circus would be at, such as juggling and acrobatics. He likes card games and is pretty good at them too.
Anything they need to have with them/luggage: they just need his clothes, journal, and juggling balls :]
Comfort/liked foods: popcorn, fudge, and saltwater taffy are huge comfort foods for them. Xe loves most Italian foods as well. He's not generally a picky eater but those are his favorites
Things they dislike: xe does not like to be ignored by others, and he hates owing people. They also really don't like to feel as if someone is better than him. Oh, and they're pretty confused by modern technology and xe doesn't really like it
How much are you okay with me changing them?: xe can be changed to fit the story, but I would like him to be similar to the original idea where it's possible
Would they like an animal companion?: maybe, if you feel it'd suit him
What is their opinion on stars and books?: big on stars. He loves looking out at the night sky and describes it as "life's most beautiful mystery." Xe enjoys books and reads them when he has time
Did they like their old life?: yes, but they were ready for a change
Other: idk if this is helpful information but I'm fairly certain xe is AroAce

if you could specify if your character is an AE, CBer, or made up for this ski lodge that'd be great too. i'm so sorry i apparenlty did not think the form through very well. if it's an AE or a CBer please specify, and if not i'll just assume they're made for this ski lodge :D

To summarize other comments: please specify if your charrie is a CBer or AE (otherwise you can just leave it and i'll assume they were made for this); they don't have to be humanoid; and possibly more other personalities would be nice since there's a lot of quieter people :D
Thanks a ton to everyone who entered! If i didn’t say something to you that doesn’t mean i don’t like you/your charrie, it just means i don’t have any questions :D and feel free to say no to any changes. i don't believe any of these are necessary for the story to work.
I should specify that “portrayed in a negative manner” means them being a jerk mostly. And basic comfort foods, things they like, things that make them feel comfortable, etc are actually quite important. I can make a lot of them up, but if you care about what they are let me know
Hex, can I give Izar a pet pigeon that pops up on occasion? There’s actually a reason but that’d be mild spoilers heh. Also what would you consider the core essence of him? (so i don’t change it). would it be okay if he sometimes gets snappy when upset but regrets it and apologizes later? last thing: does it matter which pronouns i use? i've been using he/him since you said he prefers them, is that basically it? or a mix? either's fine
Celine, I adore your charrie so much. if you could specify a bit on random things comet likes and such that’d be great :D but i really look forward to writing comet. Since you said comet is Chinese, is there anything cultural you’d like me to work in? Maybe in the comfort foods section. Not necessary it’d just be a nice detail. and what's a goofus bird? i'm sorry i'm still confused even though you explained
Moon Wolf, she/ae can be any gender! Pronouns don’t necessarily correlate. Some girls might use she/her, but you can also use he/him and be a girl. They’re separate but often heavily related :D I can choose her gender if you want.
Mystic, can i have fun with what a randomness kumquat is? Or is it something i just don’t know about?
Also a few slightly older or younger characters would be useful… not necessary by any means though. Maybe Izar could be 17-18 or Echo Rose could be 8-10? Not necessary though. Literally the only thing that would change would be their appearance/age, and maybe a little bit of personality but honestly i don't think it'd be a big deal. it would probably be a bit more for Echo Rose but probably i just wouldn't change anything for Izar even if he was 18. not necessary though, i just like having a wide variety of ages, and my characters are like 16-17 and 8
Also i’m sorry this is so poorly organized so far; it’s just hard to make a plot when you don’t know who’s in it XD

also i kind of need someone who's at least a bit of a jerk. like not awful but at least someone who has that potential. if anyone wants to make one, you can even if you already have a charrie. otherwise i can make my own (i'm sorry again but as i said, it's really hard to plot when you don't know what characters you have). also some of this applies slightly less after Periwinkle's character got posted (btw Periwinkle I adore xer already). i'm so sorry for all the comments. i sincerely hope this is all

Glad you like Johnny (who is a character I made for this ski lodge and not an AE or anything, btw)! I'm honestly quite proud of him~
Would it be helpful for me to make a rude character? I'm 100% fine with making a character who ranges anywhere from kind of rude occasionally to a total jerk. I'm already starting to form some ideas…

YES that'd be amazing thank you and yes Johnny is amazing. i was acutally thinking he might end up being like a hesitantly and awkwardly big brother/sibling-y character (let me know if that's not okay, it wouldn't change anything else)
Silver just posted someone who might be more directly mean (thank you so muchhh Silver also i might change a good amount because fae's a bit too close to one of the other characters i made but i'll try to keep as much of him the same as i can) but another mean person would be great, so maybe someone who's just kind of like cold and standoffish? or someone who kind of chooses people who they like and is super nice to them and ignores and is cold to the ones they don't? (that would actually be really great if you could work that in) Someone not overtly cruel but who would enhance a feeling of not belonging here and generally being wrong. that would be amazing but it's okay if you don't get around to it :D sorry if this doesn't make sense i can barely breathe right now (i'm sick)

-comet made a wish for an escape then (coincidentally if needed) found cometself teleported here maybe?
-comfort foods: dim sum (comet usually orders har gow (shrimp dumplings), siu mai (um idk actually- "small, steamed Chinese dumplings that are filled with a mixture of meat, seafood, and vegetables."), cha siu bao (bbq pork bun), dan tat (egg tart), egg custard bun, salted egg yolk bun, purple potato balls, red bean sesame balls, sweet white rice cake (but only a bit because it's super sweet), sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, xiao long bao (soup dumplings), there are more but I have to stop)

Okay, and those black lava buns, I think they're called charcoal lava buns? Oh, and clarifications: when I say "egg custard bun" I mean those pineapple buns with the solid (not runny) egg custard filling inside, and when I say "salty egg yolk bun", I mean basically the same pineapple bun but with the liquidy runny salty egg yolk inside, and when I say "charcoal lava bun", I mean basically the salty egg yolk (which is technically salty egg yolk lava bun I think?? Oh and who knew it has a Chinese name haha (I should've but oops) it's called liu sha bao) as in it's like this thicker softer black bun but with the same golden salty egg yolk liquid inside. Did I explain that okay. Oh well.
oh and the purple potato balls are like purple potato balls (duh) but there's this sorta not really mochi but I'm just gonna say mochi layer inside and then inside that is the (I think?) salty egg yolk filling.
haha yeah dim sum dump Happy AAPI heritage month!!!!
oh wait and when I say "cha siu bao", it's both the steamed and baked version, comet doesn't really care although the steamed version sometimes makes comet feel weird and the baked version is sweeter 'cuz it's more bread than bun (the steamed version is all fluffy white fluff-bread and the baked version is more super soft bread) and the bread usually like a thin layer of sweetness on it (I looked it up apparently it's coated with egg and sugar wash?).
that's probably not everything yet (WAIT WAIT purple coconut cake!! Though idk does that count as dim sum...? Also I don't even know what it's called or if it has coconut (I think so though...) that's just what I call it :p) but I should probably move on so-
more comfort foods: beet soup it stains comets teeth red but it's SO WORTH IT.
OOC: my grandpa makes this and he puts so much healthy stuff in it 'cuz he likes experimenting (oh also lotus root soup!!! I think it's called?) and it's kinda funny because any veggie/meat you put in there it turns red 'cuz of the beet :)
Things comet likes: astronomy, thinking, reading (mostly fantasy/scifi books), a good discussion, philosophy, the supernatural (comet doesn't believe in it but comet finds it interesting), the world, freedom, comfy furniture, big spaces that comet can run around in and explore~
btw Ascella also owns a (Chinese) dragon carved from wood, it being the year of the wood dragon and all why not. This Ascella likes to hide in random places around the Library :)
Also yes please culture!! You can see my big dim sum rant, feel free to use however much or little you want from it, or to ask me if you have any questions (though I'm not really an expert) :) I think it'd also be cool if you have comet do things like not leaving comets fork or chopsticks sticking up in comets food, and stuff like that, even if you don't write it just putting it out there as background for comets character :)
I don't really know that much about goofus birds either; they're mythological birds that fly backwards and appear as a bird with "a turkey-like head, a long green neck, silver scales, a black right wing, and a pink left wing." (paraphrased). In my imagination, the Goofus bird for this lodge is small (like a sparrow basically - but with the above appearance), super curious, and hilariously goofy -- kinda like a little puppy, but in bird form! It loves to zoom around rooms! :D you can use your imagination to fill in any blanks if you want
ack gtg now (just as I finished writing though!) going to eat dim sum XDD (my grandpa and grandma bought it over, but btw comet is gonna be SO EXCITED that the kitchen is stocked with dim sum because that means comet can eat dim sum whenever comet feels like it 24/7 now because usually dim dum is only served from like noon to early afternoon or something like that at least. :DD)

Celine - whoah i didn't know the chopsticks thing was a Chinese thing too! It's a big thing in Japan. it's because of a funeral custom i think. anyway would it be okay if i did a different kind of bird instead of a goofus bird? i looked it up and i still don't completely get it and it just feels a bit weird to take and change something from actual folklore. it'd probably be something like a wren made out of crystal, or maybe a glass nuthatch that hops around the library looking for little outcroppings of gems on the shelves to snack upon
Moon Wolf - well with Periwinkle's other character we're at 10, but I actually think another would be okay if you'd like :D age and personality barely matter anymore, so have fun.

Wow cool I didn't know it was Japanese too! Yeah, I think it's because leaving the chopsticks sticking up is like inviting your ancestors above you to use them to eat your food, so then when instead you take a bite of the food yourself, it's really rude. And ooh definitely!! I just sorta wanted a goofy bird, which is why I chose a Goofus bird, but yeah that's true. I do love just any bird in general though! :)

My mum said that part of the reason chopsticks (we call them hashi-not sure I spelled that right) aren’t supposed to be left sticking up in rice is partly because they look like the incense sticks in offerings to your ancestors. Also, by purple potato do you mean taro? I love taro

oh noooo he hates pigeons lol but yes go for it! and I have no idea what the core essence of him is XD you can change pretty much what you want? idk I don't have super strong preferences. snappy sounds good! maybe mainly use he/him but throw in a little ze/zir occasionally? also yeah 17-18 age is totally cool :)
