CB Story
RULES
I will kill you off if it pleases me. (eerie laughter)
I get to choose your powers.

PLOT:
The world is Earth. Everything is the same but for one thing that has dominated the culture like ivy covering an ancient wall: True Names. When you are born, your parents give you your official name, like Paul or Lisa. But as soon as you turn 13, your True Name appears on your wrist.
Often, a true name describes someone's best attribute or worst flaw: Kindness or Greed are common names. The names never describe physical attributes like agile or swift.
Unfortunately, there is one more type of name: the Forbidden Names.
These names are seemingly random, like Flame or Dachsund, and they give extraordinary abilities. Well, dachsund-summoning isn't that amazing, but-oops, getting off track.
People who have Forbidden Names are hunted down. It's not like the owners of Forbidden Names have a choice, but the True Guard doesn't care.

Gender: F
CB Appearance: Tanned skin, turquoise-blue eyes, a half-smile. Messy white-blonde hair, back length. Red shirts and a pink jacket, blue jeans. If I'm not barefoot, then purple sneakers. A headband with leopard ears attached to it.
Personality: Poetic, booksy, awkward in social situations but very loud and crazy around friends. Loyal, but kind of pessimistic.
Do you want to be a main character: I mean, I'd like to, but I don't have to be. Whatever you want.
Any songs you happen to like: EVERYTHING from Hamilton, some Disney songs, a bit of classical. I listen to whatever I can find, not really a set few songs.

A really bizarre fact: Did you know that black holes may contain wormholes to another universe, or even be the creators of new universes? Yes, I'm a quantum physics and astrophysics nerd.

Gender: Female
Appearance: Longish brown hair (about to the shoulder blades) usually in a ponytail mint green streak in hair, brown eyes, mildly tall. Wears anything comfortable, likes leggings and sweats. Light green blood (is that okay? If not, feel free to omit it).
Personality: Excitable, likes to be confused and to see other people confused (therefore drawn to logic puzzles, philosophy and paradoxes), ships everything. She can act like a four year old (asking "Why?" over and over, for instance) and though it gives the appearance of being innocent, it's actually a mechanism to confuse and annoy other people for fun.
Main character?: Sure, why not! But I'll be happy with any position!
Songs: Agggghhhh. Don't make me pick just four. You know what, I'm going on my YT playlist, putting it on Shuffle, and listing the first four CB-appropriate songs that come up.

Personality (DON'T GO INTO TOO MUCH DETAIL): Intorverted, darkly sarcastic, generally doesn't like people, philosopical, l live in my head and question everything, l'm honestly blunt. Lover of all things nerdy and all things science.

CB Appearance: Curly, just-below-shoulder-length red hair that has a tendency to frizz, blue-gray eyes, pale skin with lots of freckles, quite short. Wears purple yoga pants, black riding boots, a red and purple bandanna on her head, and black riding boots.
Personality: Smart but foolish, upbeat but self-depreciatory, friendly but introverted. Has an overactive imagination and a tendency to get lost in thought.
Do you want to be a main character: It would be nice, but I definitely don't have to be. I'm fine with a side role.

A really bizarre fact: Unless you're using equal-tempered tuning, any musical note vibrates exactly twice as fast as the note an octave below it. For example, if you tune an A to 440 hertz, the A an octave below it will vibrate at 220 hertz.

Gender: Female
CB Appearance (GO INTO DETAIL IF POSSIBLE, but modify and humanize it for this CB Story): Shoulder-length, fluffy, brown hair that is constantly getting in my eyes and in my mouth. I have almond-shaped, dark-chocolate colored eyes, and a sprinkling of freckles across my nose. I'm really tan (the beach is 5 minutes from my house and the only season that exists here is summer) pretty short for my age, and almost constantly have a book draped over my arm. You can probably find me wearing jean shorts or black leggings, and a t-shirt with a dumb/funny saying on it or a picture of a parakeet. I usually wear a pair of beat-up navy Converse hi-tops.
Personality (DON'T GO INTO TOO MUCH DETAIL): I am smart, a literalist, utter bookworm, and I obnoxiously correct grammar whenever the chance arouses. (Most people hate me for this.) I am pretty shy and reserved, until I know you well, then which I will unleash my true torrent of craziness and probably steal your lunch.

Then I have light blue eyes, close to sky-blue but not quite, with white-blond hair going to the shoulderblades and curling at the ends. I'm tall for my age (which is twelve), and usually wear punny t-shirts and skorts.
Personality (DON'T GO INTO TOO MUCH DETAIL): A bit of an ego, I make bad jokes, and am definitely crazy weird (which I delight in). Also a complete nerd and bookworm.

A really bizarre fact: Octopi have neurons all through their body, including in their tentacles! They can also change color to completely camoflage with their environment-- meaning, like, if they were against a brick wall, they would have a brick pattern, not just red.

I hate to be a Grammarian (actually I don't), but the plural form of "octopus" is "octopuses", not "Octopi".
I think both spellings are acceptable. It depends upon which dictionary you consult.

Actually, it’s octopodes. :) I had this debate in a theatre group last year. We were playing the name game, and a guy named Owen said he liked Octopi, then someone said it was octopodes, and BLAM!— the dispute started. Eventually someone looked it up and because of it’s Greek origin (not Latin, which many mistake it for), the plural is octopodes.

A quick intro for... (selects randomly) ABIGAIL!
The wind pulled at Abigail's hair like water over a riverbed, pushing between the gossamer strands as the river pushes through reeds. It was 12:55 am at night, and already the sun had begun to tint the sea the color of angel's tears.
Hence the name of Angel Tear Bay.
Abigail's dark chocolate eyes gleamed in the dawnlight. Only five minutes till her true name would appear on her wrist.
Her motions were steady, graceful; that of a deer in a forest without predators. She rubbed the wood of her violin with one thumb before putting it to her shoulder.
Silence hung like a silk curtain in the air.
The first strains of the song, though soft, were loud in the dawn. Abigail's suntanned hands guided the bow gently across the strings, and her soul left her body and flew into the air, twirling and dancing to the pulse of the bow.
Abruptly she dropped her bow; her wrist was aching, and it was 12:59. For a moment she thought that she must run back to her hut and tell her father; then the fire inside of her wrist caught and she dashed to the ocean, running to douse the fire.
The water cooled her arms, but the name kindled flames of panic within her.
A Forbidden True Name.
She would be hunted for whatever abilities it gave her; innocent civilians hurt, huts destroyed, family killed-
Abigail screamed into the wind and ran, name burning mockingly on her skin.
Cacophony.
