Graceling RP!

Graceling RP!

Graceling RP!

I've read Fire and Graceling so far and I'm planning on reading Bitterblue soon. I really love these books so I thought we could make an RP. I think it should take place in the seven kingdoms. You can be a Graceling or a human being if you want. And we can also have Monsters even though they technically live in the Dells. Should Leck still be alive during the RP?

Name: Cayenne

Age: 16

Appearance: Light blond, shoulder-length wavy hair; light skin; one green/brown eye and a gold one; medium height

Other: She's a Graceling with the power to turn invisible.

I'm back.

Cayenne-

Since it's still fall, snow has not covered the mountain - yet. But I know by the time we reach the top, the snow won't stop and will threaten to bury us if we aren't careful. At the same time, I am happy to finally have gotten rid of the horse. My legs gladly walk up the steep trails and my hands scrape open on rocks without much more than a slight sting. This is better than be jiggled up and down from hours on end. Or falling off every hour.

"Cayenne, where are you?" Brenning calls angrily. I take it I'm invisible without knowing it. It's sort of a hard thing to control. I sneak up behind Brenning and lean in until I'm right behind her ear. "Boo!" She flinches only a bit but that's enough for a wave of satisfaction to roll over me.

"You flinched! Ha, Brenning, you can't deny it! You flinched." I laugh loudly as Brenning's face changes from slightly pink to dark red.

"We're on a mountain! At the edge of a cliff and all you care about is if I flinch when you pull the same stupid prank on me!?" I hold my stomach; it hurts from laughing so hard. "Just you wait, Cayenne, I'll get you back. You can count on it." But I'm laughing to hard to care.

Lottie ~

My leg throbbed, but I did my best to ignore it. We climbed higher and higher, and it was far faster than riding. Kira climbed beside me. The air was pleasantly cool as fall came closer to being winter, but it also spurred us on for fear of first snowfall. I hear Brenning yelling at Cayenne, who I presume is invisible, which got me thinking about my own grace. It still scared me, and I wasn't totally sure how to control it. Everyone else seemed to have complete control over their graces, yet fire was so wild. Once it's released, there's no holding it back. I looked down at my own hands, wondering if I would be able to use it if time came for that.

"Worried?" Kira asked. She knew me well. "Your grace isn't something to fear. Just learn to use it." I nodded. Kira had complete control over her grace, which happen to be the same as mine. She trained and tutored me, yet it never seemed to get any easier.

"Just practice," she whispered as Brenning and Cayenne came up behind us.

"It's getting harder, and it will especially be so from here on out," Brenning said, gazing up at the sheer rock in front of us. It would be a difficult climb. We decided to rest before continuing on. We had to get farther before camping for the night if we wanted to pass before full winter hit. I sat back, and checked my leg. The wound was closed well enough, but it was swollen and sore. I rolled my pant leg back down, and stood up. I glanced at the sun which was already setting behind the mountain tip.

"We should keep moving," I said.

Starting tomorrow evening, our internet will be going down for about a week, so keep this thread alive! And keep Lottie going for me too! Thanks!

Will do!

Brenning--

"Geez." I mutter.  Cayenne can be exhasperating sometimes.  My nerves are more irritated by the sheer danger of the impending cliffs.  I wish that Cole were here.  He was the one who could fly or something.  Lottie's Grace was probably the most useful up here.  Even if the snow hadn't hit yet, the mountains were still bitterly cold.

"You just can't take a joke." Cayenne taunts.

"Well can you take falling of this mountain ridge?" I grab her by the scruff of her neck and swing her out towards the edge of the cliff.  She squeals.  I drop her on to the ground and she falls down, panting.  "I thought not.  Now you'll know not to joke around here."

This thread keeps dying off!

Lottie ~

We continued to climb. I knew we wouldn't make to Bitterblue for at least another week more. I prayed she could hold out that long. The higher we climbed, the colder it became, making me wish I had control over my grace. That I could let others know what it was, and actually use it. But the one time I'd really tried to master it, I'd nearly burned another servant girl, and almost caught my tunic on fire. Suddenly, there was the sound of voices.

"Hide!" Brenning hissed. Cayenne turned invisible, Brenning pulled herself up into a tree, leaning periously close to the edge of the cliff, and Kira pulled me into a small cave, it's entrance covered by brush. We lay on our stomachs, listening. It seemed so unlikely that someone would come this way, but Leck would stop at nothing. Pounding boots came up the path. Men's voices floated toward us. Leck's men, no doubt.

Cayenne-

"Leck said they may risk taking the pass." The voice is very deep, clearly a man's.

"I doubt they're that clever." Another man replies. They have stopped only a few feet away from our hiding place. I cover my mouth to hide the white cloud of breath that appears every time I exhale.

"Never underestimate a Graceling." Another voice. How many men has Leck sent after us? My leg starts to fall asleep. I try to shift my weight quietly but fail. Instead I end of kicking a pile of rocks to the right of me and clumsily slamming my tailbone on the ground.

"What was that?" The man with the deep voice shouts.

Kira and I lay flat on our stomachs, listening intently. Then there was the tumbling of rocks, and a thud, which I assumed was the invisible Cayenne.

"What was that?" a soldier shouts. I can see their boots through the brush. There's at least three, possibly more. I tensed, unsure of what was going to happen.

"Start searching," one ordered. Kira gripped my shoulder. I figured we'd have to fight our way out.

"Get ready," Kira's whisper was barely audible, even right beside my ear. We waited, and the soldiers came closer. Then Kira lunged from our hiding place, I following on her heels. She whipped out her bow, and started firing. I too, pulled out my bow. Brenning lept out of her hiding place, and Cayenne suddenly became visible. There were four soldiers, one for each of us, and they were all well armed, each prepared to fight a Graceling. They wore thick clothing, good for protection and still maneuverable. They had swords drawn, and shields at the ready. Kira and I stood back to back, so did Brenning and Cayenne.

"No matter what, keeping heading upward!" Brenning shouted.

COME BACK PEOPLE!!! Gollum, Flaming Girl!

Im baaaaack! My Internet was shut off for a long time.

--Kira

We lunge out of the cave with so much speed that one of the men trips over us. Lottie and I whip out our bows and start firing. Cayenne becomes visible, and Brenning jumps out from her hiding place. The men are wearing thick fur armour that still allowed movement. There is one for each of us, which means I'll be taking on two soldiers. While the armour is thick, it can still be penetrated and is most likely not fireproof. We keep the men's attention, allowing Cayenne to sneak behind one of them. A twig snaps under her invisible foot, and one of the men whirls around. I spear his leg, and he crumples to the ground. A soon as his cry for help leaves his mouth, more men charge up the hill. Too many for us to take.

"Get behind me!" I cry as a hot wind blows away from me. As soon as it reaches the soldiers, they burst into flame.

Cayenne-

A particularly dumb soldier runs after me. I tease him, turning invisible then jumping out of nowhere. You can see that he isn't one to give up easily. Unfortunately, I am not the most graceful. I manage to trip over a rock and slam my shoulder into something hard. The impact shocks me so much that I forget to turn invisible again. The man barrels towards me, a cruel grin on his face. Suddenly something hot touches my sleeve and I see the soldier dispersed in a flame.

"Cayenne! You're burning!" someone bellows. That's when I notice the flames devouring the left sleeve of my coat. i scream and start rolling in the snow like a mad man. While I'm doing so, I notice red flames, probably from Kira, destroying more troups of soldiers. It doesn't take long unti there is no one else coming around the bend. It was four of us against an army and we won. Sure that the flame is out, I  stand up and march back to where the others are standing. Kira has sunk down to her knees in the snow. Her face is pale and her eyes tired. Producing the fire has taken almost all her energy.

"We must let her rest!" Lottie demands.

"We have to find another place. Those weren't all the soldiers. When they notice that their troups aren't coming back, they'll send more to find us," Brenning says.

Lottie shakes her head. "No. Kira and I are staying here. You and Cayenne can go on if you want but Kira doesn't have any energy left to climb the mountain."

"I'm for staying," I add.

Brenning glares at me. "You have no say in this, Cayenne. You almost got us killed with your brilliancy and while you were rolling around in the snow, we were fighting for our lives."

"Well, at least I didn't betray my friends."

Brenning pulls her knife out. "But I came back, didn't I?" she growls.

"GUYS! Stop fighting! It doesn't matter. If we don't get Kira out of the cold she'll die," Lottie yells.

Lottie ~

I was worried about Kira. She seemed more tired than usual, and this cold wasn't helping. I had once, only once, managed to create a fair amount of fire when Kira was training me, but that alone had exhausted me. I bent down, placing one of Kira's arms around my shoulder, helping her weakly to her feet. Cayenne and Brenning had stopped fighting after my outburst, but were still glowering at each other.

"Come on," I said again. Cayenne turned and grabbed Kira's other arm. Brenning was still glowering, but she took up the rear in case more soldiers came. We climbed a little ways higher till I stopped us.

"Here," I said, gesturing. A small hole sat at the base of a tree. "It's the entrance to a cave," I said to Brenning's questioning look. "I stayed in a number of them while I was on the run." We slid in, and found the cavern much larger than it appeared on the outside. Cayenne and I rested Kira against the wall. A small, perfectly round hole at the top of the cave shed in some light.

"It's too dark to see much; we'll have to start some sort of fire," Cayenne said, straightening. I nodded in agreement, and Brenning and I clambered back out, soon returning with a fair amount of kindling. Brenning bent over the pile clicking two rocks together in hope of getting a spark. But after several minutes, she threw them away in frustration. I hesitated, then knelt down beside her.

"Here," I said. I held my hands out in front of me. I glanced at Kira, who gave me an encouraging smile. I closed my eyes, and after several seconds, managed to create a small flame. Hardly anything, but enough to get a fire going. I smiled as the flame grew.

Sorry if this doesn't exactly make much sense in context of the plot, so please ignore any inaccuracies.

Brenning-

I look for a rock that might be flint, as I have a steel knife.  I find a rock that might look passable, but I look in the inside of my jacket (which is the most inefficient way to carry knives about ever, but it was for show while presenting to the king.  I took off before I could find a better sheath) and realize I've put back most of them without cleaning them, including the steel one, so I'll have to clean it with snow (and get other people's blood on my hands) and then it'll be wet, which isn't exactly the best environment for fires and then I'm thinking about how badly my hat will show blood stains when Lottie's gone and made a fire appear out of her hands.  Now that's a useful Grace in this weather.

I try to look like all that fuss I made about the flint was worth something, so I lay out all my knives, which have been put out of order in my battling frenzy, so I stab them into the snow in a line and then take them out and clean them with my hat.  It's more of a rag by now, but it works.

"Do you hear that?" Cayenne says.

"And when we get them I'll convince them they're marsupials, oh what great fun it will be..."

"That's Leck," I say.

"Well you would know," Cayenne snaps.

"Stop squabbling!" Lottie orders. "You two get Kira. I'll cover the fire."  I wrap Kira's arm around my neck and she grabs on to a good lock of my hair to get herself up to my height.  I wince and Cayenne has Kira on her other side.  I immediately start running and Cayenne is stumbling behind.  I can tell she's struggling with my pace after a couple hundred yards.  I'm starting to hear faint sounds of Leck's army.  Once we get within better range of his voice, we're done for.

"Cayenne, I can take Kira piggyback.  She's injured and we'll go faster that way."  Cayenne looks like I've insulted her, but she helps me get Kira up on my back.  I start running as fast as I can on this rocky terrain before she's fully secured, so I have to stop for a second for her to get her arms around my neck.  I run for a while before I realize why my ribs don't feel like they're being cut off.  I left my knives back at the campsite.

Cayenne-

We dash up the rocky, lightly snow covered hill. The sounds of Leck's army become louder. Up ahead, I see Brenning stop to shift Kira. My sides ache from running but I know I can't stop. Lottie's right next to me, breathing hard but keeping pace. Brenning doesn't continue to run. Instead she turns around and barrels towards us.

"What is she doing?" I hiss. She reaches us in only a few seconds. "Cayenne, you have to take Kira. I forgot my knives."

"You can't go back! Leck's army will be here in any minute." Lottie protests.

I start to pick Kira up. The weight pushes me down yet if Brenning can do it, so can I. I start to walk, then pick up my pace to a jog.

"Cayenne! Come back! Brenning, where are you going?" I continue running, not looking back. If I do, I'll drop Kira. Soon Lottie has reached me; tears are streaming down her face. "You are both insane, do you know that? Brenning's going to get herself killed." She sniffles.

"Don't under...estimate...Bre...nning...She's one...strong...Grace...ling." I manage to say between breaths. We keep running. It seems as if the hill will never end. I trip over rocks and have to readjust Kira multiple times. Lottie even offers to carry her, yet she would crumple under her sister's weight.

"Down! Quickly!" Lottie orders in a loud whisper after we've reached a ledge. She must've seen a soldier. I place Kira gently next to me. Soon I hear them, tens, maybe even hundreds of men, huffing and puffing, their feet kicking rocks and crunching snow.

"They're going towards the cave." Lottie whispers. "Oh no. Oh no. What have we done? I shouldn't have let Brenning go. What if she's dead already? They must've sent out scouts."

"Quiet, Lottie. We have to wait. Brenning will be okay." However I'm not so sure if I can believe that myself.

Lottie ~

Anticipation built up inside me. I stood watching beside Cayenne, watching soldiers swarm the place. Suddenly, there was a great shout, and fighting started up. I clenched my hands into fists, breathing fast and hard. I saw fast flashes of movement, and knew it must be Brenning.

"Come on, come on," I whispered under my breath. Suddenly a figure broke loose from the fight, running full speed up the mountainside.

"Get ready to move or we'll have a fight on our hands," Cayenne said. We each gripped one of Kira's arms, and started moving. We knew Brenning would soon catch up. I glanced back occasionally. The soldiers were moving rapidly, though Brenning was moving faster. I just prayed we were too.
