Superhero RP.

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Superhero RP.

Superhero RP.

So. Superheroes. Pretty awesome people, especially when they can do stuff like fly and control things with their minds. And beat the bad guys. The plot could be a bunch of kids who go to this everyday school and learn about each others powers. Then they beat up some bad guy. Anyone interested?

Name: Pepper Collins

Super power: Invisibility and sometimes forcefields

Age: 14

Appearence: Shoulder length black hair, extremely green eyes, about 5'7, tan.

Personality: Nice, cares about others, and is generally friendly, but if need be, will rip you to shreads.

Other: Lives with her father, stepmother and two stepsisters. Her mother died when she was 10, and she misses her alot. Her stepmother is like the one from Cinderella, especially when she brags about her daughters and tells Pepper every five minutes what a worthless thing she is. she is secretly scared of her powers, and claims Pepper is a freak. Her dad travels, so she never see's him.

If anyone has suggestions on the plot, feel free to change it.

Let's see how this goes....

Pepper~

"Hem hem. Pepper, would you please pay attention to the question and not the window?"

My head snapped up and looked innocently at Mrs. Anderson, who was glaring at me from the blackboard. She glared at me for a minute and then turned back to the isosoles triangle she was explaining. "Class, what do I say about daydreaming? Math is important. Math is the sole thing that never tricks you. You must always dedicate yourself to math, and nothing bad will happen to you." I tried not to roll my eyes. Talk about a teacher with a love of her subject.

"Since you seem to already know the material, Pepper, why don't you answer the question?" I bit my lip. "What is the length and the width of the triangle?" I stared blankly at her. "Uhhh... 12 and 3?" The class erupted into giggles. A girl with long black hair and the most colorful highlights I have ever seen gave a rude snort. Mrs. Anderson shook her head. "Class dismissed."

I grabbed my messenger bag and rushed out of the room, my face bright red. I ran to my locker and took a deep, steadying breath, trying to calm my embarrassment down. Well, at least it was time for recess. As the rest of the school rushed outside, I slipped behind my locker and thought, disappear. When I opened my eyes, my body wasn't there.

I didn't like hanging around with the other kids, mostly because I was afraid they would find out my secret, my secret of disappearing. I didn't know how it worked, but all I knew was that for as long as I could remember, I could appear and disappear at will. Sometimes, I could even make a forcefield around me. This was much harder than becoming invisible. Right after my mom died, I had gotten a letter from an association called the Protectorate. But the minute I had read the word gifted, I had thrown the letter in the trash. No fancy organization was going to use me as a tool.  I leaned against a locker and closed my eyes.

A crowd of kids walked by. Many of them were older than me, but some I had seen in some of my classes. They obviously didn't know each other, and were only focused on getting outside. The girl who had laughed at me drifted by.

"You coming, Rin?" a girl outside the group called from the door. The girl nodded. "Be right there!" she called. The girl nodded back and walked out the door. The other girl, Rin, opened her locker and brushed a strand of hair aside. I marveled at how amazing it looked. It was short and a beautiful color, and...

Wait a minute. Did that strand of hair she just brushed... grow

I let out a gasp. The girl spun around and, to my horror, her hand hit right where I was standing. Letting out a yelp of pain, I felt my body fly back and hit the ground which, sadly, killed my invisible look.

The crowd had stopped and stared. Well, of course, why wouldn't you stare at a girl who had just appeared out of nowhere?

"Look, I can explain," I said, straightening. "You must have not seen me. I was behind that locker, and she slammed it into me. I don't know why you think that's so amazing." They all stared at me for a minute longer. Finally, a kid with wavy brown hair, whose name I think was Aiden, stepped forward.

"Who are you?"

Leota can be a member.  I'm warning you now, though, she will prefer to work alone.

I'm changing Danni's age back to 15. I know, I know, I couldn't make up my mind, but this way she can be in the same school year as most of the others and just have a really early birthday

Danni-
I had called to Rin to hurry up, but before our eyes a girl was hit by Rin's locker door and fell, but the weird thing is she just appeared out of no where. After trying to make some stupid excuse as to why she came out of no where Aiden, a tall pale kid with choppy black hair a year below us, said,
"Who are you?" Pepper looked mortified. I couldn't blame her. Imagine if I had just decided to absorb the wood on my desk in front of everyone? That would be seriously embarassing.
"I'm Pepper Collins." I smirked. Smart-alek. Aiden gave an annoyed face, so I decided to step in.
"Hey, Brother Grim, give the girl some space. Rin just smacked her with a locker door." He shot me an angry look. He hated it when I called him Brother Grim because his last name was Grimstone. Rin and I exchanged a glance. We both knew what had happened, we both knew that some people, like us, were different.
"Yeah, sorry about that, c'mon. Let me help you. Danni, help me get her to the nurse." I nodded as Rin helped her up.
"Move along morons." I snapped at the crowd of people who quickly exited the doors. Everyone knew about my legendary temper ever since I'd pantsed Rob Hewitt in sixth grade because he kept making fun of my hair. As soon as the crowd moved on Rin and I rounded on Pepper.
"Ok, what's with the dissapearing act?" I asked.
"What's with her hair?" Pepper asked pointing to Rin. I exchanged a glance with Rin. We were good friends and knew about each other's powers and I was surprised to know that Pepper knew.
"We asked you first," I said, sounding like a 5 year old.

One more thing about Adam: he can travel between two worlds.

Adam-

Everyone wonders why I have a picture of the ocean on my locker.  It's nothing special, except that it moves.  When Pepper randomly walked into her locker, I knew something was wrong.  Whenever one of us uses their power, the ocean starts to roll.  And when Pepper lands in front of her locker, immediatly visible, the picture was abruptly still.  You've been found, I thought, quit hiding.

-=Aidan=-

Brother Grim. Well, that was my fault, I guess. I told them my last name was Grimstone. Great idea. I suppose my appearance contributed to the nickname. Not that appearances matter to me. I could change myself into a California surfer dude. Or a Chinese alchemist. A new identity is never very far away from me.

The girl had powers. That much was obvious and no surprise to me, actually. I've seen her go invisible before. I've seen lots of things, actually. The other girl, Rin--her hair does weird stuff. I once saw her open a door with it when nobody was looking. Or she thought nobody was looking, besides the spider in the corner.

You see, shapeshifting is about one of the best powers you can get. It can make you practically invisible, it can let you fly. It can give you superstrength (if you have the razor-sharp intellect required to change your body deep inside). But it is also probably one of the hardest powers to control. I've noticed that sometimes, when I get mad, my eyes start darkening, like storm clouds are rolling over them.

As you can imagine, it's hard for me to make friends.

Okay, so yes, if I'd wanted, I could have assumed the image of the most popular boy in school. I could have talked with his friends, lived with his family, and disposed of him in an alley somewhere. But I am not that kind of person. I figure, my powers were given to me, and even if they are the worst thing in my life as well as the best, they were not given to someone else, so why should I pretend to be someone else?

I think too much, don't I?

I opened my locker and tossed in my books. I slammed the door shut, not worrying about next class. I had other business to attend to.

I grabbed the girl by her shoulders when nobody was looking and steered her behind a bank of lockers, automatically altering my appearance to make it seem less threatening. I made my hair less ragged, and my eyes rounder and lighter. My face tingled. It should probably be incredibly painful, but best I can figure, the human body doesn't know how to deal with this kind of thing, so it just throws up a pathetic tingling sensation.

She looked at me with frightened but angry eyes. I could see her body flickering. She was thinking about going invisible. So I went ahead and asked the question I had asked earlier. "Who are you?"

Rin~

Danni and I took Pepper half way to the office then we turned into a empty corridor then into a empty storage room. It would be okay if we were late since our next teacher Ms. Kowaski was always at least 30 mintues late, she hadn't been fired yet since she was the superintendent's niece. "So what where you doing vanishing in front of everyone in broad daylight. Do you have a jail-wish?" I said "What?!" Pepper said, "You know that if people find out your power is vanishing then you will draw attention to yourself and possibly blamed for unexplainible crimes." "The best way to get out of that is to join a protectorate or not show people what you can do!" "Are you guys part of a protectorate?" she asked. Neither of us were (I will stick with Sam's idea and since they are friends they will join at the same time) and we told her so and then let her go. We were lucky that it seemed no one had noticed besides us. We let her go with the warning in mind and then went to class.

After school, we walked home together to Danni's house since I didn't want to see my parents. They still didn't get that they couldn't make me smile by acting stupid or reading badly written children's books. We had learned to control our powers together and weren't part of any groups besides our own. When we got to Danni's house however that girl from school, Leota, was standing at the door. It seemed we had been discovered.

Leota

I was sitting on that girl Rin's front porch, munching away on an apple.  It got pretty boring just sitting there, so I made sure no one was home, walked through the walls into the house, got an apple, and came back outside.  Yeah,  I know, I'm a freak with weird powers.  Deal with it.  Finally, they arrived.  It's like they never heard the word fast.

"Good.  You're home, Absorbo-Girl," I said dryly, "and you brought your friend, Hair."

Rin was about to deny it when I turned transparent.  You could only faintly see an outline around me, as if I were cut out of window glass.  I concentrated, making my eyes roll back in my head.  Slowly, I floated off the ground, about six inches.  I floated through first Rin, then Danni.  I materialized between the two of them, throwing my arms around their shoulders.  "You're not the only ones with secrets," I said.

"What if a car passed?" Danni started to look paranoid.

I rolled my eyes.  "Hello, transparent!" I exclaimed.  I opened my watch to rerelease my instructions.  "The protectorate wants you, blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada, ahh!" I read, "We do still have Taco Tuesdays.  Anyway, want to become a full-fledged superhero?"

Pepper~

"Who are you?" Aiden growled, his grip tightening on my shoulder.

I was really tempted to say, "Good question!"

Before today, I thought I was only a girl who lived with her evil stepmother and could disappear sometimes. Now I was sort of wondering.

"I told you, I'm Pepper Collins. Why do you care?" Actually, I knew exactly why he cared. I had seen him transform his hair and eyes. I wasn't exactly afraid of him. More angry that he saw me for who i was.

"You know why." His eyes flashed. "You're one of us. I have a right to know about you." He gave me an intense look. "There are people out there who would want you dead in seconds. Be careful." I shrugged off his hand. "Look, I can take care of myself. I don't need random strangers telling me what to do." I grabbed my bag and rushed to my next class.

Three hours later, I fished out the key to our house out of my bag. I knew that my stepsisters would never open the door for me, so I always carried an extra key on me. As I stepped into our immaculatly clean mudroom, I thought about everything that had happened at school today. I wondered if Rin or Danni's cell numbers were in the school directory. Maybe I could text them to meet with me later so we could talk.

"PEPPER!"

I groaned inwardly and dropped my bag. "Yes, Ellen!" I called to my stepmother.

Ellen was stick skinny, wore too much makeup, and had hair the color of a yellow crayon. What my dad ever saw in her was a mystery to me. Yet he had married her, and had therefore forced me to put up with her and her two stuck-up daughters, Ruby and Clara. They all hated me, and I couldn't say much for them. If dad was ever around, maybe it would be better. But that never happened.

Ellen marched in in too-tight corduroy pants, a white tee shirt and five inch black pumps. "There you are! I've been waiting for you for the last hour! Why are you always late? Ruby and Clara got back ages ago!" She glared at me with her snake eyes. "Now, I need to go pick up Ruby from cheerleading practice and take Clara to a party, so while I'm gone, I want you to clean the kitchen, weed the front lawn, start dinner, take out the garbage and dry Ruby's nice shirt. Now!" she added when I rolled my eyes. She grabbed her handbag and rushed out the door.

As I walked up the stairs, Clara hurried by in a bright pink tube top and a too-short denim skirt. "Ugh, get away from me, Paprika!" she snapped. She knew I hated it when she called me that. "I just got this top, and I don't want your dirty hands ruining it!" She rushed down the steps like her life depended on it. As she got to the last flight of steps, I smiled inwardly and in my hand produced a ball-shaped forcefield. With all my might, I hurled it at her, and rushed up the stairs with her yells ringing behind me. I laughed for a minute, but as I entered my room, an idea and a decision came to my mind. I needed to know about all the other people like me. I grabbed the school directory and tried to think of every kid in my school that I had thought did something weird. When I thought about it, there was a lot. One kid, Adam, I had seen control water from the water fountain when he thought no one was looking. Another kid, Dale, I had seen make a plant grow before my eyes. Then there was Noliam and Legion, who I was pretty sure could make illusions and replicas. I whipped out my phone and sent a text to everybody.

Meet me in the alley by Coplain Street. I can go invisible and I know you can do something too. It's about time we talked. Don't tell anyone.

"Become a superhero?!" I gasped, "Yeah, fight crime, blah, blah, be looked up to, where a costume that doesn't have a cape-- just kiddin'." Danni spoke up. "Like a hero in the fifties comics?" "Yeah, whatever. Can you just decide already? We will keep bugging you until you do anyway, since we are rather short of people." We both decided that it was for the best. Anyway, it would keep me away from my parents for a time. Suddenly, all our phones started beeping. We all took out our phones and saw the same message,

Meet me in the alley by Coplain Street. I can go invisible and I know you can do something too. It's about time we talked. Don't tell anyone.

-Pepper Collins

"Well, it looks like she has decided," said Leota. We all went down to the street and saw her. She flashed invisble once then went back to normal. Adam, Aiden, Dale, Noliam, and Legion, who now I looked at him, I wondered why he was at our school, were there also. "So, I think we all know why we are here today," said Leota. "You all have powers so we need you to all join the Protectorate. I'm sure most of you have been contacted in some way before this, so you know the whole spiel by now. We need you and that's that. So let's go ahead to main base and induct you." It looked like Pepper had wanted to speak, but she just didn't say anything and followed Leota. "Why do you want people this badly?" I said. Legion spoke up. "That's classified information, also, thank you Pepper for finding everyone." He nodded at her.

Leota took us down the street into a seemingly ordinary house. I was starting to consider having second guesses about joining. I grew my hair out a bit, so it covered my neck and heart like a protective shield. If I needed to I could send strands out to trip and bind everyone. Leota took us to a steep flight of stairs and up to a metal door and knocked three times. The door opened and a amazing sight met my eyes.

Adam-

My phone buzzed in my back pocket.  For some reason, so did everyone elses.  When I opened my ancient, half-dead cell, it said on the screen in blurry letters, 'yOuhAveaNEWtextMessAgE!" As if I'm really that excited.  I thought.  I barely made out the name Pepper Collins before the screen went dead.

"Did anybody else get something from Pepper?"  I asked,

"Yeah," Rin said, "she finally 'discovered'" Rin did a little quote on quote thing "that she has powers."

Leota~

"Welcome to all of you,"  I said.  Legion looked really disappointed that I had stolen his speech.  "Fine, Legion," I said to him, "take it away."

"Welcome to the Protectorate.  We are the only superhero guild in this wonderful metropolis, therefore we are the highest ranked in the city.  We also cover all the surrounding cities, except for Lonford.  Lonford was always an oddball," he introduced. "Anyway, we are the second-highest rated guild in the state, fifth in the country.  So, you see, if you decide to become a member, which you will, you will join a prestigious organization.  When you become a member, you get to pick a code name and disguise.  These are solely for privacy.  My code name is obviously Legion.  Leota's over there is Specter."

I waved to the adoring crowd.  During his speech I had suited up.  I was now in a purple leotard that matched the streaks in my hair.  On it was a picture of a bat.  I love those little creatures.  I also wore a mask that matched the green streaks in my hair.  For those who didn't know what my power was, I demonstrated by turning transparent.   I floated right through Legion.  Legion then created a duplicate, then destroyed it.

The other kids were a mix of emotions.  Some looked like they wanted to join right now.  Others looked like they weren't sure.  Still others were against it.  A small group, including Pepper, looked just plain scared.

"So, who's joining?" I called out, still in my transparent form.

Dale~

"Look here!" I snapped, stepping shakily to the front of the crowd. "I was trying to lead a normal life here, and I intend to keep on doing it. My power is nothing special, more practical than useful as a superhero or whatever. I don't give a, well, I don't give anything about whether or not your Protectorate is a prestigious organization!"

"Now that's a long rant," Leota said casually. "Look, kid. You don't want to join, don't join. But I warn you--"

Meanwhile, I was looking around. Some of the other people there are nodding excitedly, some are unsure. Ugh. Heroing is so overrated. But I don't want to stand out.

Besides, they'll find me. I don't know how, but the dangerous kind seek out the people with powers. They're the powerful and smart ones, the ones that become supervillains.

And this Protectorate may be a protection. Whether they like it or not. Surrounded by superheroes of all kinds, usually not sent on dangerous missions alone....

"I'll do it," I said. And Dale the Coward steps forward first. Shocking, isn't it?

Danni-

Rin and I exchanged glances after Dale's bipolar rant. I was totally against this. Eventhough it sounded slightly cool, but I wasn't one for group projects.
"What do you think?" I asked. She looked around. Not a lot of people looked like they wanted to do it.
"I don't know, I mean, they could really use our help, and you and I have pretty good powers, not something to lame, you know? And besides, it'll give me somewhere to go after school besides home." She muttered the last part. I took one last look around before nodding.
"I guess so, and it's not like we have to commit body and soul to this thing, just maybe an hour a day two days a week right?" I was comforting myself more than her.
"Right. Let's go." We shoved our way to the front of the growd. Rin and I exchanged one last glance before saying to Legion,
"We're in."
"Names?" I rolled my eyes.
"Danni Campbell and Rin Smiles."
"Full name." I set my jaw and tried not to punch his lights out.
"Danielle Campbell, and Rin Smiles." I said. I could swear he smirked beind his mask.
"Go to Specktor, take a paper from her and fill it out, then return it to me." We headed over to Leota who handed us the paper. It just had two questions; name, and codename. I filled mine out.
Name: Danielle Campbell
Codename: Chameleon
Rin glanced at mine and giggled.
"What? You know it's a good idea considering I can absorb anything." She corrected me,
"Except water." I shivered at the memory.
"Yeah, but we don't talk about that remember?" She rolled her eyes.
"Yeah yeah."
"What did you put anyway?" I asked grabbing her sheet.

Flashback:
I was five and sitting on a bench next to Rin at Christmas. We were playing with ginger bread men. I accidently dropped my ginger bread man and jumped off the bench to get him. My hands touched the red metal and I absorbed it, my whole body turning into red metal. Rin and I both screamed and I ran. I ran as fast as I could and as long as the average 5 year old could. By the time I was out of breath, I was in front of Old Man Roger's house. He was a crazy old man that thought anything red was made by the Devil. He walked outside to water the lawn when he saw me. I stood, like a dear in the headlights, shock still. I started to back away, but he grabbed me shouting,
"IT'S THE DEVIL HIMSELF! IT'S THE DEVIL!!"
"I'm a girl!" I snapped, but he wasn't listening. He took me to the backyard, tied a weight to my feet and threw me into the pool in the deep end. At first I just transformed into the water. But I was under too long and my powers were still new. After three hours under the water as water, I turned back into myself. I was under for three more minutes before I started to black out. Luckily I heard a splash and someone came to get me. It was my dad. He grabbed me and the weight and pulled me up. I caughed violently, sucking in oxygen when we reached the surface. He swam to the stairs and helped me out. Rin was standing there too, looking panicked.
"Danielle, are you ok?" My dad asked as I spit out water. I started shaking violently.
"N-n-no." I said throught chattering teeth. My dad had called the poliece on Old Man Roger. They came and as they arrested him he kept shouting and pointing at me.
"EVIL CHILD! SHE'S THE MONSTER!" I was only five so the poliece took no intrest in me, but my dad knew better.
"Danielle, what happened?" He asked. Through tears I explained it all to him. He then took me home and I sat in front of the fire for hours trying to warm up.
