Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Random Thoughts/Things?

Random Thoughts/Things?

I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

@admins, sorry for all these questions, but would it be possible for cricket magazine to have irl events at all? I mean, I know we're all scattered all around the country, and in some cases even the world, but... just a thought? I think someone (maybe me) has asked this before, but I don't remember the answer...

It's very unlikely we'd be able to do that. We're a small staff concentrating on publishing our magazines with the very best stories, poetry, and art. We're happy to host the Chatterbox as a forum for our readers to communicate with each other.

Listening to "Red" by Taylor Swift and how are those lyrics so relatable

touching him was like realizing all you ever wanted was right there in front of you

memorizing him was as easy as knowing all the words to your old favorite song

REMEMBERING HIM COMES IN FLASHBACKS AND ECHOES

TELL MYSELF "IT'S TIME NOW, GOTTA LET GO"

BUT MOVING ON FROM HIM IS IMPOSSIBLE

WHEN I STILL SEE IT ALL IN MY HEEEAADDD

i think the essential appeal is kind of just creating imaginary romantic relationships, and making the details vague enough that anyone can project themself into it, but also specific enough that folks can recognize aspects of themselves in them?  i dunno. i like either messy terrible horrible situation love songs, or quiet rekindled love songs.

i think (and i'm saying this as a reply to LE bc i don't wanna restate anything they said, but this is in response to Hex's question) to add on, that the lyrics in red are relatable because when you are really infatuated with someone, them and the desire to be with them feels so completely perfect and natural, hence the comparisons-- you usually don't put in concious effort to memorize your favorite song, you just do bc you listen to and think about it so much-- same with thinking about someone you're in love with.

i enjoy analyzing song lyrics hehe

Yeah, I agree with LE. I would also add that there's the aspect of celebrating love, which is univeral even if you haven't experienced actual romantic love yet *happy sigh*

But I suppose "red" in particular is more relatable if you've had a crush... Here, meet me here in ten years and see if your mind has changed, deal? :)

buuut it's perfectly okay to not experience/want to experience romantic love! :D yeah, the majority of songs are about romantic love, but it's totally fine to not necessarily understand/relate to them :]

you have to admit, though, the lyrics can be pretty fun to scream along to, regardless of whether you relate to them~

*currently going to a formal event*

dad: you're wearing a formal "make your own magic shirt"??
me: (mom) picked it!
dad: you picked this?
mom: she's going to wear something over it!
dad: why doesn't she just wear something like what (dad, mom, and brother) are wearing?
mom: she doesn't have anything nice...
dad: what kind of family are we that our daughter doesn't have anything nice to wear??
me: :)

Loving him is like tryin' to change your mind

Once you're already flying through the free fall--

So tRuE, "Red" is one of the most accurate (for me) love songs I've ever heard...
