Random Thoughts/Things?

Random Thoughts/Things?

I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

YOU'RE ONLY IN EIGHTH GRADE??? My goodness you are supremely mature and awesome for an eighth grader Peri!

Lol I'm 17 going into senior year and wish I'd been anywhere near as put together as you present to be... I've been exposed to a lot more junior-high kids than usual because if marching band, and yeah, my point stands.

I actually thought you were 14 like me (i turn 15 in november) but i guess it makes sense you're 13 because my best friend who is in my same grade acts my age and she only turns fourteen in two days

I thought you were older than me. Like maybe you're 15... not the same age as me. I always thought of you as "oh my gosh peri is so mature and cool and has a name that is my fav color and cannot be my age because woah so smart"... probably because I see most kids in my grade at school immature and annoying (unlike everyone on here, so obviously everyone here is older than me? Idk my brains logic is weird). Basically I figure kids my age are annoying therefore all cbers are older than me because age=maturity I guess. I think I'm over explaining myself.

But ANYWAYS hello fellow 8th grader!!

Hey all, I need as many opinions as I can get on this:

So I've noticed that we have a lot of queer people on the CB, as well as people who are not queer and/or are not very familiar with the LGBTQIA+ community, and people who are not queer but want to become better allies. I was thinking of starting a two or three thread project for all these people to come together:

Queerness on the CB: a thread on This Month I'd link in the New Ultimate Guide. This would be a pretty big project, and I'd probably need some willing people to help with it. Basically, it'd be a guide to many queer identities and different pronouns, as well as resources to learn more. We could also talk about media with good LGBTQIA+ representation, another place to learn more and get a good idea of how to put good representation into what your art (that art being drawings, books, comics, whatever you're making), since many of us are creatives of some sort. There would also be conversations about pride and Pride Month, a guide to being a good ally, and whatever else you all think we should add. I think it'd be a good idea to plan and organize this thread, a bit like the way we usually plan and organize MCUs before releasing them.

QSA Reboot: a reboot of the Queer Straight Alliance. The thread died but we can remake it or just top it. This would be less of a Public Service Announcement than the above thread, and would more be a place for queer and non-queer people to converse about their identities.

And then a potential third that we might just want to work into the QSA:

LGBTQIA+ Ask: a thread where non-queer people can ask queer people questions in a polite and respectful way. For example:

"How do I use she/they pronouns?" - Joey Bob

"People have different preferences, so you might want to ask them specifically, but many would want you to alternate between she/her and they/them. Like this: 'I love her new skateboard! They are really good at skateboarding. I'm going to the skatepark with her tomorrow. Hanging out with them is fun!'" - Bobby Joe

What do you think? Would any of those threads be useful, and would anyone be interested in helping make them if we decide to?

These are all good ideas, but the one that I think is most helpful is the last thread. I'm still getting mixed up on if I should say "fae was" or "fae were" with fae/faer pronouns, "themself" or "themselves" when using they/them pronouns...

The Chatterbox is a forum for kids 9-14, the same age range as Cricket magazine. Ours is a positive, open forum on which we do not divide threads according to gender, religious, ethnic, or political identities.

As we have remarked on other occasions, discussions of gender issues tend to be inherently more mature than is appropriate for the full age range of CBers and magazine subscribers. We monitor the threads carefully to ensure that the content does not stray too far above the Cricket age group.

Everyone is grateful for the wonderful tone of the current threads. We are not in a position to monitor a more extensive discussion and behavior guide than is now on the CB, or to review the maturity level of books, media, and other outside sources.

What is it about corridos and norteñas that make them sound so good when you first start listening to them, but after several minutes of listening to them they're just monotonous? Perhaps I should switch to another radio station...
