I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

Anyone care to share two or three rather modern-sounding names for fictional countries? It's starting to become awkward calling the two in my world 'country A' and 'country B' during worldbuilding.

Are there any details about the countries that can influence their names? The language, culture, geographical features, major industries, government, irl countries they're based of off, and so on can all help you come up with ideas for their names.
But for a more random-ish name, I have a strategy I use often. It involves coming up with a kind of descriptive placeholder name for the place (let's just use "Northern Coastal Country") and gradually taking away letters until you have a word that can actually function as the place name. Northern Coastal Country can become Oternautry. I could see that as a name for a country, and it can create even more questions and ideas for further developing the country. For instance, the "naut" part brings to mind the word "nautical" - perhaps they're a seafaring people? And the people living there can be called Oternautrians, or something.
And you can add stuff to the name to make it sound more modern - the Republic of Oternautry, for instance, or the Oternautry Empire. Mess around with it until you find something you're happy with :) Hope this helped~

Ok, four things I GOTTA say:
1. I had a aleepover with my BFF. Rory on Friday, and I had a cryin' meltdown 'cause even though I'm fifteen, my parents won't let me watch this show with her (Idk if I can say the name, but it has Chris Pratt in it)
2. I'm not gonna be able to go to that event that's in Vegas to see my fave online personalities, 'cause we don't have the money for it AND THAT STINKS.
3. I can't find Chris Pratt (yes I have a crush on him now, and I have crushes on four different guys) in the movie Christopher Robin, and he plays the "Sussex Train Porter" and I GOTTA FIND WHERE HE IS DOES HE SPEAK IN A BRITISH ACCENT IF Y'ALL KNOW WHERE HE IS PLEASE TELL ME, ok I'm good now LOL
4. I HAD A DREAM WHERE MY CRUSH KISSED ME ON THE CHEEK!!!! That was two nights ago, and I heard prior to that dream that if you remember your dream, it isn't a dream, IT'S A MESSAGE. Is that my brain tellin' me he LIKES me?!!
Ok, that's all for now.
Oh, also I have company comin' over on Thursday. So.... and I start school next Wednesday, but I'm not lookin' forward to it, 'cause I'm homeschooled, and if I WEREN'T homeschooled, I'd be in the same school as my crush.
And I gotta get my thing up and runnin'..... *Mumbles to self* gotta remind my dad to set up that account...

Wait, for real? And, Ik I probably should still try to stop you, but I won't, because I respect that decision as I don't know the whole situation, plus that must take guts, and also it'd be pointless. But, if you're running away because of a situation at home, I hope it gets better and it's something that you really need to run away from, and if you do, you have a very very very solid plan and somewhere you can stay and get necessities and stuff. I also hope that before you do, feel free to talk with us, hopefully you'll find that you don't have to run away! And please really consider other options too before you do so!
And, if this is just a joke, please don't post things like that on here. If it's not, sorry for saying this.

Hm, I've felt this way before as well before realizing that its a big, lonely world out there and besides I couldn't bear the humiliation that would come of my family having to tell everyone that I ran away from home. Other thing: I'd probably get lost somewhere and not know how to get back home, and then what would I do? And another thing: My family would be extremely worried about me and I wouldn't have a home and...yeah, a lot of reasons. So...um, like Celine said I'd suggest thinking about it more. It always pays off to look before you leap.

I'm sorry for whatever propelled you to run away but i just want you to remember the world is NOT safe for a child on their own and so many bad things could happen to you so if you really need to get away from your house/ family arrange staying with a friend or someone you trust or something
