Could someone please answer my question, it's kind of important! :)
(April 30, 2011 - 1:27 am)
I'm as clueless as you are, but I'll try. How about juggliing? :-)
(April 30, 2011 - 10:25 am)
@Elizabeth M.: You could lift weights, camoflauge yourself, throw knives, shoot arrows, climb a rope, and a bunch of other (physical) stuff. :)

Sorry I didn't answer sooner. I was really busy yesterday. To answer your question, it all depends on what you want your character to be best at or like to do the most; for instance my character will probably be good at something to do with fishing like using a trident or maybe even using a bow because bows can be used for fishing. It doesn't have to be a weapon though, it can be almost anything. People in Disrict 11 wouldn't have much chance to deal with weapons because of their peacekeepers being particularly strict. She could be good at edible plants or she could be naturally skilled with a knife. To further explain the arena, it can be anything. It can be a swamp or a island surrounded by water or a desert or a forest or anything. The tributes won't know what it is until they get there. I will go ahead and start. If there are any more questions feel free to ask.

I had just gotten dressed in my new sea green dress and shoes. I headed down the stairs to meet my family. It was Reaping day so we were headed for the town center. I met my family and we walked out the doors and to the town center. It wasn't a very long way since the mayor's house was almost right by it. We were the first ones there since my father was the mayor and had to read the history of Panem. I went to the section for 15 year olds while my siblings that were still young enough to be part of the reaping went to their sections. My father mounted the stage as the rest of the district started to come to the town center.
Sorry that was really really short. I will try to finish later.

@Princess P.: You can do juggling, though it might not impress the judges (forgot what they're called and/or if they have a specific name!) unless your juggling something like knives.
I'll post something later. I'm supposed to be doing homework right now. :)
(April 30, 2011 - 4:50 pm)
I remembered that the judges are known as "Gamemakers".
Oh, and because District 6 is probably all clean because they make medicine & drugs, I'm going to pretend that the citizens live in "Blocks", which are small one-level apartments, instead of dilapidated houses. :)
I was reading THG Wiki earlier. It says that you have a minimum of 28 entires at the age of 18 without Tessera. But at 12 you start with 1 without Tessera. I'm honestly really confused right now.

Everyone was quiet as we got ready for the Reaping, there wasn't the usual bedlam. This could be because it's Margot's first Reaping; she just turned twelve. And the fact that the two of us had to sign up for tessera 4 times each, giving us enough grain and oil for each person and one extra, did not help ease the tension in the slightest.
Finally, we were all ready, each of us wearing our finest clothes. We left our Block and walked out of our Building. Soon we reached the large plot of land in front of the City Hall, where the District escort, Sior Blais, and the mayor were waiting.
Mother kissed me and Margot on our heads before we left to go to our designated spot.
The anthem started and everyone sang, then after, the mayor recited the history of Panem. If I wasn't so nervous, I would've fallen asleep. Finally, Sior greets the audience and then pulls out the first name out of the Boy's Reaping Ball. It's someone named Titus. Then Sior reads the girl Tribute's name.
And the name belongs to yours truly.

After Dad read the history of Panem the representitve from the Capitol ,Poppy Sengle, came forward and said, "Happy Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favor," in the annoying Capitol accent. She then went to the girls reaping ball and drew out a slip of paper. She said aloud, "Selena Melor." I didn't know the girl. I didn't know what age she was, but she looked terrified. When she mounted the stage and they asked for volunteers I walked to the platform. As I walked up the steps said, "I volunteer!" "And what is your name?" Poppy Sengle asked. "Lina Trenore," I stated. Selena Melor walked back into the crowd with a look of relief on her face.
I turned to face the crowd. Poppy Sengle walked over to the boys' reaping ball and took out a piece of paper. She read it aloud: "Carter Harden."
I almost gasped, but I caught myself. He was the cutest boy in school and one of the best swimmers and fishers. I hoped somebody else would volunteer. Poppy Sengle asked for volunteers and another boy stepped forward, an 18 year old who was 6 and a half feet if he was an inch. Well, better a person I don't know than a person I do, I thought.
After he had said his name (It was Archer Peirce) some Peacekeepers took us to the Justice Building and put us in separate rooms. I went over to a couch and sat down. Soon enough the door opened and my two best friends came in. Thy went over to me and hugged me. "I am so glad it wasn't Carter Harden. I know I could never have killed him," Macy said. That was just like her to say something like that. Abigail was much more reserved; all she said was "Come back to us, won't you? "Yes, I will," I said with conviction. The peacekeepers then came in and took them away. As they were going, Macy said loudly, "Come back or I'll kill you " I laughed at her silly joke.
After they left, my family came in and wished me luck. I didn't expect anyone else, but then to my delight the peacekeepers let in Carter Harden. "Hey, I guess we won't be fighting each other." "Yeah, I am glad about that." "Well you better come back. " I will," I promised.
He then did something that suprised me. He kissed me on the cheek. Then he left. A few minutes after he left, the peacekeepers came in and took me to the train station and put me on the train. There I met the previous Hunger Games winners who would now be my mentors.

How is this for someone who's never read the books? What should happen next?
Danielle—
My heart thumped against my chest as I stood in the large crowd. I heard the man on the stage read the history of Panem as they do everyyear but I wasn’t interested. I felt like getting sick but I had to stay strong, for mom and dad. This was the first time I had gone without them. They had always been there for me and now, now they were gone! Just like that.
All I had was Andy who I noticed was standing with the other families. I remembered his warm embrace before I had walked into the crowd of fourteen year olds. “Good luck, Sis.” That’s all he had said. What would he do, when I wasn’t there? What would happen? I knew Ms. Maybell would keep an eye on him but that wasn’t the same.
If I was chosen there was a 98% chance that I would die and a sliver of hope that I would come out alive.
During my daydreaming I hadn’t noticed that they had come to District Eleven.
“And now the boy champion from district eleven: ERIC ZOOT!” the man screamed. I knew who the boy was. He was a year older than me but lived right down the street. He strong arms and dark olive skin. His hair was dark brown and curly. He looked good and I already knew the swarms of girls that would be following him.
I turned back to the Capitol guy.
“The girl champion from District twelve is: Danielle Neems!”
I wanted to cry and laugh, I wanted to faint or get sick, I wanted to run away but then I again walked to the front.
I slowly came out from my place. I glimpsed at my brother who seemed utterly distraught at this turn of events.
I saw people looking at me. I wasn’t as nicely dressed as the others were. I had dark black jeans on and a plaid blouse. My hair was pulled back with a single barrette and my shoes were old and dusty.
I was led to some weird building where they put me in a room, alone.
A little while later the door was opened and my little brother came in. His deep tanned face was tear-stained. I felt my heart break in two when I saw him.
“Andy, what’s wrong?” I asked him as I pulled him up on my lap. I knew what was wrong.
“You can’t go, you can’t leave me all alone like this!” he whimpered and buried his face in my shoulder. I was his mother and leaving him wasn’t a good idea.
“Andy, come on, you’re strong! Don’t shed any tears for me.”
I hugged him tightly and he wrapped his arms around me. His teardrops wet my shirt but I didn’t care, I was with my brother.
“I love you Danielle.” At that moment I decided to win the games for him no matter what I had to do.
“I love you too, Andy. I’ll always be here for you, no matter what!” I kissed him on his salty cheeks and hugged him once more. Then Andy left to make his way home by himself while I sat in this room solitary.

@Elizabeth M.: That was awesome for someone who hasn't read the books. (Oh, that sounds really mean. I mean it as a compliment.) :)
You guys are all really good. :)
Oh, I just realized. By City Hall I meant Justice Building.
//Emma//
I stumbled up onto the platform where Sior and the mayor were. I tried not to cry as I felt the camera lenses on me. My face would be broadcasted all over in the Capitol, then later in the Districts, so the last thing I needed was to embarass myself.
"These are your two Tributes, District 6!" Sior announced. Everyone clapped politely, so they wouldn't be punished.
Quickly after, I was led off into a room in the Justice Building. My family came in first. A tear-stained Margot gave me a wordless hug, and Davy, the third-eldest child in the familiy, wished me luck. My other two siblings had no idea what was going on though since they were so young, so they just said, "Bye, bye.", then both my parents gave me another hug.
As they were leaving, Margot suddenly came rushing back, as if remembering something. She held out a brooch.
"It's the rod of Asclepius, Greek god of medicine," Margot said, "It can be your token. You're from District 6, the District of medicine and drugs, right?" She laughed sadly and gave me another hug.
"Where'd you get it?" I asked.
"Some of the Healers wear one," Margot explained, "and Healer Nevvy gave me a spare a few days ago, she thinks it's lucky. So now I'm giving it to you. You will come back right?" I look at Margot for a long time.
"I make no promises." I said quietly. Margot nodded glumly before leaving the room. No one else came; I didn't have time to make friends, since I had to take care of everyone. Soon I was led out of the Justice Building and onto a train, destination: The Capitol.

@ Olive-- I get what you wanted to say! XD
I don't know what to post now. What should happen in the Capitol? And what about knife throwing? How does that work?

Just to let you know the tributes didn't travel with other districts.

i went to dinner in some clothes I had gotten from my room. A plain lightweight skirt and sky bue blouse. At the table I saw Archer Peirce, Poppy Sengle, Mags, and the other hunger games winner, I forgot his name. I sat down. The first course was an excellent turtle soup. We ate in silence. When we finished that, another course came and after that another. Everything was excellent. There were things I had never had like pork ribs with a spicy sauce they called barbecue and succulent steaks and crisp apples.
We finished dinner with a lovely thing called bread pudding. I got up and left the table, too tired to talk. I went to my room on the train and put on silky pajamas. I fell into bed with a sigh of contentment.
.......
We arrived at the Capitol at 3:00 the next afternoon. I waved out the window at the crowd. When the train stopped we were escorted to a building. Inside Archer was taken by one Capitol attendant while i was taken by another.
I was taken to a room where I found my prep team. They spent the next few hours beautifying me. After they thought I was presentable they called in my stylist. He walked in and said, "Hello Lina I'm Renor, your stylist. " "Hello. What do you have planned this year for our opening costumes?" "Something I hope you'll like." He called to the prep team and they brought in my costume. It looked like water rippling in the breeze in the shape of a dress. The color was exactly right. They put it on me. It felt like air and when I looked in the mirror it looked like I was wearing part of the sea.
The prep team did my makeup. All the colors were blues and greens. When I saw myself after they were done I looked like I was some humanlike sea creature. I put on boots the same color as my dress that went up to my knees. "You're all ready. I'll take you down to the (Forgot what it's called)."

Mineva-
Reaping day. Oh, joy. Another day of heart broken parents, tributes trying to be brave, but failing miserably, a day of sorrow. Oh, I hate the Capital. Just hate it.
"Mini!"
"I told you not to call me that," I said, turning to look at my little brother. "Just because I'm small dosn't mean I like it." But I grinned anyway.
"Mini-"
I raised my eyebrows at him.
"Sorry, Mineva.
"What do you want?" I asked him.
"Its time to go," he said.
"Okay." I heaved a deep sigh, thankful that Richard (my brother) wasn't yet 12. But there where still plenty of people who would be entered, who would be killed. Thank goodness not many people in 3 needed tessera. I slipped on my reaping dress, and walked out of the room I shared with Richard.
~~~
"-the girl tribute for District 3 is: Mineva Jird!"
Oh, no. This could't be happening. Me, a tribute? I walked slowly up to the stage, seeing the cameras trained on me. I saw Richard in the crowd, standing next to my mother. He looked like a statue, just standing there. I saw tears in my mother's eyes, and felt my own eyes sting. I blinked back the tears. I could't fall apart on TV.
Then, the guy from the capital took a name from the boys ball and read: "Marcus Cri is the boy tribute for 3!"
Oh, no. Not Marcus. He was this sorta cute kid, but he had a awful memory, and he wasn't horribly bright, either. I knew he would't stand a chance in the Games. But I knew nobody would volunteer.
