My obsession with ski lodges isn't exactly a secret on here, so this won't be surprising for a lot of people. I just think it's remarkable how we've managed to create and develop an entire genre of writing that only exists here. Anyway, there are so many good lodges that are finished sitting in the back threads and I've saved a lot of links so I thought I'd share my reccomendations for anyone that wants to get into amazing older ski lodges! i'm not sure if the links will work if I put them here so I'll post them once this thread goes up!

Possibly my favorite ski lodge of all time!! Luna is a masterful writer and the setting is so incredible and magical.

TON’s original Ski Lodge

The one that started it all. It’ll look drastically different than the modern ski lodges we have now but still super fun and interesting to see the origins from 12 years ago.

I've done a lot of looking at old ski lodges, and my favorite was definitely yours (Wayfarer Island). The writing was amazing and something I'd expect to see in a published book, and the story was also incredible. I literally made a drawing of a lighthouse with a person outside watching the water, inspired by the ski lodge, which is kind of embarrassing now that I think about it, but whatever. If you ever write another ski lodge (no pressure, it's entirely up to you if you do), I would definitely want to be part of it, or just read along.

Awww thank you so much Amity!! That means so much to me. I had so much fun working on Wayfarer Island and I'm still proud of it. I'm not sure if I'll do another one (I'm pretty busy rn) but maybe in the spring when the workload is less heavy. Making art based on my lodge is super amazing and not embarsssing at all, I'd love to see it if you're comfortable :))

That wasn't actually what I was thinking of :) I had a certain death in mind for it (hopefully you can tell which one, but if not, near the ending). But I guess it could work both ways, and it's cool that you interpreted it that way :D I feel sorry for Storm. I wonder if anyone else would find the island at some point.

how did i only just see this?? thanks for compiling all these awesome ski lodges, Silver, and for the shout-out!! Wayfarer Island is definitely one of my favorite ski lodges - you should absolutely go read it, and if you've already read it, then you should go reread it :D

one of the most hilarious ski lodges - not even ski lodges, just pieces of writing in general, actually - that i've ever read. i believe it's also the first ski lodge to a) not be written by T.O.N. and b) not take place in a literal ski lodge.

Camp Juniper by Liberté and Basil (Morning & NerdFace)

i think this was the first ski lodge i started reading along with? it's kind of dark as far as ski lodges go, but obviously nothing that's not appropriate for the cb. some of my favorite hosts ever - Liberté Reine is absolutely iconic. it's also done some pretty brilliant things with ski lodge genre! (last updated 2023)
