Writing/Art Contest
There have been things like this in the past, and I decided to bring it back.
So, you will team up with a partner. Each pair will have one writer and one artist. The judge will give you a theme and a deadline. The writer will write a story or a poem (maximum 100 words) relating to the theme, and the artist will make a piece of art relating to the theme. It's nice if they go together, but they don't have to.
At the deadline, the judge will judge the entries. The winners will become the next judge.
The first theme is growing. You could try something about plants, or children, or science, or something else entirely.
The deadline is two and a half weeks from now, September 9. I know people's schools are starting, and you'll need to find your partners, so I can extend the deadline if needed.
Good luck, and have fun!

Thanks!

What do you think of this? Can I submit it as our final entry?
The wolf strikes once
Claws bared
A howl freezing all who would protect
He is taken
My life turns gray
The wolf strikes twice
Teeth like the sharpest needles
A growl sending all scurrying, but not all
She is taken
My life turns dim
The wolf strikes thrice
Baskets, furniture overturned
I, alone, remain unfound
They all are taken
I cannot live

There's a shift of tone in every stanza, the deadly flurry of the wolf followed by the soft, quiet pain in each last couplet... I think it might have something to do with the use of the word "taken" as opposed to "stolen" or some such word. If you like it, though, I think we're ready.

I don't really feel like changing the poem; I think it's fine this way. Here is our entry together for convenience:
The wolf strikes once
Claws bared
A howl freezing all who would protect
He is taken
My life turns gray
The wolf strikes twice
Teeth like the sharpest needles
A growl sending all scurrying, but not all
She is taken
My life turns dim
The wolf strikes thrice
Baskets, furniture overturned
I, alone, remain unfound
They all are taken
iI cannot live

Abigail S., if you're still here, I'd love to be your partner. Or anyone else. I'd prefer to write.
(October 30, 2017 - 11:14 pm)
Can there please be an extension of the deadline? Pretty please. Can we extend it to next Monday? Please?!
(October 31, 2017 - 7:14 pm)
I'll talk to Blue

Hows it coming? Need any help? :)
(November 3, 2017 - 11:49 am)
Ah, it's um...coming...along (in other words, I uh, coughcoughforgotcoughcough) Super sorry. I really should stop joining these things if I'm just going to forget. If there's still time, I will get the poem done ASAP. Again, sorry! My fault.

Here is the poem. As you can tell it is against forestation.
This is a war
But it is not like other wars
Chainsaws replace guns
Machinary are cannons
We are fighting Earth
Tall soldiers fall slowly
Their crashes resonating
If a tree falls where there is no forest
Does anybody hear it?
They cannot scream
Or cry
Or groan
These gentle giants
Are mute
The citizens under their watch
Are left homeless
Wondering where
The forest went
And if it will ever
Come back
They kill them in the name of industry
And say that it is needed
But is killing our planet
Something we must do?

And here is the picture. I used a couple of references, but the idea is mine.

I'm really sorry guys, but I think I'm gonna have to drop out. I just don't have a lot of time, and I keep forgetting about this. Again, my apologies. I won't join again until I have the time.
