Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Regular poetry thread

Regular poetry thread (because I'm tired of not editing my poems)

This is exactly what it sounds like! A thread to post poetry. I'm excited to read all of your work!

I don't have a melody or anything, just basically write whatever comes to mind. I love your poem! The words you use are so pretty and elegant.

Well, you certainly have a career as a songwriter.

Thanks! :)

lost

the book is open

pages ruffling ruffled will be ruffled in the breeze

her place is lost

and she has left

looking for something else

she is lost too

Goodbye our racing through the halls

Goodbye our punctured soccer balls

Goodbye the bakery down the street

Goodbye our desk that was never neat

Goodbye our wild games of tag

Goodbye the keychains on our bag

Goodbye the stories that we told

Goodbye our sunrises brimming with gold

Goodbye our yelling across the class

Goodbye our window with too much glass

Goodbye our model of a cloud

Goodbye our music playing loud.

Now we’ve said goodbye, here’s something we need to know:

You can’t say goodbye without saying hello.

Oh I like that!

I've never had a lover,

Never knew I needed one.

But when I saw your lovely face,

I sensed those days were done.

You brought me great joy,

You brought me the light.

You've shown me how to fly,

You've opened my eyes to the sights.

Oh, how I look

Back on that morn'

When I last looked

On two lovers with scorn...

Locked in the other's gaze,

Never wanting to leave

The other's loving embrace,

(May their bond never be cleaved!)

Now I look at you,

All shy smiles.

I see in that look

That you would go all extra miles.

Now I don't know if I love you,

Don't know if I even LIKE you.

But that's just because

This is a bit brand new...

~~

Wow. That's awful. I really don't know why I posted it...

I han't posted for, like, a really long time but I finally have some time again. I wrote this one a while ago for a writing competition and won with it, but I would still love some critique.

A Matter of Time

Time is precious

You always think

That you have more

Until

The only ticking you hear

Is your dying heart

Counting down

The final seconds of life

And every minute

Every second

Of your entire life

Flashes before you

In a single moment

They say

Let time not count age

But wisdom

I say

What is wisdom

When time runs out

Only age matters then

They say

Time shows what matters

I say

Time shows mistakes

Playing them in my head

Over and over

Drowning me in regret

As my heart ticks

And the seconds of my life

Near an end

They say

Be patient

Things will happen with time

I say

My entire life

Has been spent

Waiting

And I’ll still be waiting

When my time stops

They say

Time teaches the value

Of life

I say

Life teaches the limitations

Of time

They say

Time is a gift

I say

Time is a curse

My heart is ticking

Slower

Slower

It is only a matter of time

Before mine stops

But as I lie

I hear more ticking

Thousands of hearts

The hearts of those untouched by time

Free

I love that! My only bit of critique would to maybe make the lines longer, so instead of having only a few words on each line you could join some of the lines together. Like

Time is precious/You always think that you have more/Until the only ticking you hear/Is your dying heart/Counting down the final seconds of life

I think it might just make it a little smoother? Otherwise, I really love it.

So...this is me when I read a good poem or meet a good poet:

AKSDKLFDASLKJHF! SO GOOD! WHY CAN'T I DO THAT! MY POEMS ARE NOTHING COMPARED TO THIS! *crumples to ground in awe*

So...here are some of my humble attempts at poetry (and by some I mean a lot, but I'll split them into many posts):

Look at me

Look at me

And tell me

What you see

Say you see a human

Say you see someone who cares

Someone who feels

Someone who silently cries

But also has

Unlimited

Love and joy

Just ready

To be

Discovered

Look at me

And say you see that

(And lie

Because I know you don’t)

You just see the girl

The outcast

The one who lives in darkness

But really thrives for the light

Of understanding.

Look at me

And say

What you see.

Sorry about this, Admins!

Silent storm

There’s a silent storm inside my heart

I thought that it had gone

I locked it in a chest of ice

Tears the ice was once.

But someone somewhere heard the wind

Of my wishes and my dreams

They somehow felt my silent storm

And set it free.

And now I cannot help myself

It rages out of control

Destruction and revival can’t help

But that will come, I know.

So I give in to my silent storm

I let its cacophony fill my ears

Because out of the darkness

A light is near.

In case you can't tell, I wrote this when I was madly in love.

Happy?

Am I

Happy?

Can I be

Free?

From my prison of

Misery.

I thought the torture would never end

But then you came to me.

Precious moments in the sun

As close as I’ll ever come

To pure ecstasy.

Holding back just because

I still have common sense.

And every weeping moment

Fades in comparison

Whispers echo in my ears

But I fly with no descent.

So maybe, just maybe

I can stay happy again.

And...the final one because my others need some editing for them to be CB appropriate.

Drowning

I threw myself

Willingly

Into the water

It filled my lungs

I came up

Choking

Tears falling from my eyes

And fell back

My lungs burned

But I stayed down

Until I came up

Grabbing the closest link

And hanging onto it

For dear life

The waves still whipped at me

And then

Your hand reached out

I didn’t grab it

I called for another voice

But the boat sailed past

Ignoring my cries for help

And then I reached for your hand

And fell onto land

It hurt

My lungs

Were filled

With fresh air

I need more

Give me more

I want more

OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS YOU ARE ALL SO GOOD YOU MAKE ME WANT TO GO WRITE SOME POETRY RIGHT NOW

Um, I'll be right back!

Bring back the light

You said to us,

'Stay here, we'll be back,'

And we waited

For hours

And you didn't

Come

We waited

For days

You lied.

We found a way,

Me and him

Made a life

For years

And years

We were like that

Helpless

No parent

Who was once

You.

But that was

Before

We met her

She changed our world

With her fierce hope

Her life

Had been tougher

Then ours.

Together

We fought

Had an adventure

She was unique

He loved her

But unlike us

She found her way

Back to

The light.

She is now

Who she was

Before

The darkness

Took her

We were still

Ever in the dark

Until

We found you

Again.

But

What we broke

Couldn't be fixed

But in her

Though she was gone

We found

Light.
