ART POSTING

(Subject not going through....Third time's the charm...??)

Art stuff thread starting...NOW!  If you draw stuff, you can post it here! I draw in a sort of anime/manga/toon style, but if you don't, don't let that stop you from posting your stuff!  I would love to see other people's art so post away!  They can be OCs, fan art, or just random stuff.  You can use any media, including digital, like I do!  Just to let you chatterboxers know, I started this thread so we can share our tricks of the trade with each other.  Feel free to: ask questions about how to draw certain things, post techniques, share art, and mostly HAVE FUN!  If you draw your OCs, feel free to share information about them such as their names and that sort of thing.  Same goes for fan art since not all of us know where these characters are from.  You don't have to be polished with your art.  I myself am just a beginner at anime/manga/toon.  I'm not good at hands so if any of my hands looks particularly cruddy, you know why.  I also struggle sometimes with feet so same goes for that.  If any of you know how to draw a particularly good hand or foot, feel free to share your trick for it.

Going to post a picture of my OC, Tuxedo, if this post goes through okay.

And this is a new style I've been trying.  I would really appreciate any critique on either of these pictures.

Those are really good Marigold! I need some help too. I'm trying to draw this chicken but it isn't really working. I'll post the WIP next.

The outline looks great, Kate! I would advise a bit of improvisation for the parts you think aren't working. For example, look at your reference's tail. It's so swooshy and dramatic, so don't be afraid to make it a little more exagerated, especially in those big sickle feathers. Draw the picture, not just the outline- going feather by feather gives it more depth. An outline works for the more solid parts that just need some distinction to get started- the body, the head, the feet. Parts that add personality, like the tail, beak, and wattles, can be a little more fanciful. Show the emotion you see in that bird! Show his slightly wacko, belligerent personality! You've clearly got the skill, so don't be afraid to make it your own!

Hi, Marigold! I don't think I've ever seen you around before. :) Welcome!

To answer your request for critiques:

The first picture looks really great! The best critique I can offer there is to maybe blend out your strokes a little more, so it doesn't look so choppy, and to lower the eyes. Eyes are actually just a smidge above halfway up your face.

On the second, the background is amazing! The clouds are so detailed and I love the hills behind the one the girl is standing on! But the girl herself is sending me some conflicting messages. The arms imply that the person is facing slightly to (our) right, and yet the neckline implies that they're directly facing us. The shoulders match that directly front view. The eyes are focused in two different directions too (an easy fix; don't worry, I do it all the time :) ). Even despite that, I love this sketch. I love the girl's hair especially. It's so poufy and beautiful. :) And ooh, I just spotted the sun. I would actually maybe take the sun out if possible, because the way the sun is shining would make the shading be all different on the girl, and I really like the shading on the girl so I don't want you to change that a bit. :)

All in all, whether you take my critique or not (it's totally fine if you don't-- you should be proud of what you've done here!), these are two amazing pieces to add to your repertoire.

Here's a part of Katniss's song that I wrote out with my dying pen a while ago. (That sounds tragic.)

Please excuse the watermark. I have this posted on my PaigeeWorld and am once again too lazy to take another picture.

Anyway, I made that little dress for my abjd Lu-lu. ^u^ I am currently working on ways to make the same dress more effecient to make the next time I sew another.

Note, Lu-lu came with the socks and bear ears as she was a fullset. I didn't make them, she just looked so not-herself without them. So they had to be in the picture.

Thanks for the suggestions Cockleburr!

Also, Pooki P, it's cool that you like sewing! You're obviously great at it. I'm a terrible sewer and personally hate it XD.

Actually, I'm still a beginner. The back has a slit (which of course is hemmed) so I can actually put it on the little guys, but it was slightly too small so instead of being a verticle slit, it looks more like a V. Point is, I have a long way to go. XD

Banba says eamu. No, I am not an emu. Close guess tho.
