How come forecasters alway predict- no, not predict. How come forecasters always warn you about flash floods and tornados, but never warn you that after a tornado all your belongings might fall out of the sky. That's exactly what happened on the day my life turned upside-down. Literally upside-down.

"Amitty! A tornado is coming! Fetch Goldie and get in the cellar. Daddy and I will be there in a minute..." But they didn't come. Goldie and I waited an hour, all the time wishing that nothing had happened. Well, Mom and Dad finally came, and Dad said that the tornado had come unexpectedly, so they'd had to hide in their closet.
If you're still reading this, and not getting scared off, I'll give you a warning. This was not the worst part of my tale. That came three days later.
Ok I aM noW donE. If you Liked this, recommend it to your friends. If you Hated it, recommend it to your enEmies.

Ok! I'm back! Now, to the story...
//Amitty Lastion\\
I've been living in an upside-down house for three days now, and I'm still not used to it. There's carpet on the ceiling, I'm walking on popcorn floor, and when I try taking a bath, I end up taking a shower as water pours out of the tub. The ground floor (previously an attic) has an angled floor. Dad say he's going to fix all this eventually, but he's busy trying to get everything we own in place first.
..............................................................................................................................
Mom and dad are taking me to the orphanage with them to "Help others like us," as mom says. I'm bored, so they say to go play with the others my age.
I pass a boy who looks about 15 years storming off somewhere. "Probably his room," I thought to myself.
I reach a comfy looking window seat under a bay window and start to sit down. Then I hear a voice behind me. "Hey, wait! That's our spot!". I turned around. There were two girls behind me, their arms loaded with pillows. One of them spoke. "I mean, you can sit there if you want, but..." Her voice trailed off. Now the other girl spoke. "I'm Zada, and she's Lydia. What's your name?". I said, "I- I'm Amitty..." I pause, taking in my surroundings. "And... well... I'm not here to stay... but, my parents are here helping others, because they say we're the lucky family and, I guess they feel they need to help because we still have a house, the tornado just flipped it over and-" I stopped there, both beacause I needed to take a breath, and the two girls- what were their names? Zada and Lydia?- were exchanging a look.
We were staring at each other, saying nothing, when we were interupted by a crying girl running into the room and flinging herself onto the window seat. The girl called Zada rushed over to her. "Kitty... Kitty, what's wrong?" she asked in a quiet voice. "*sob* My- *sob* My mom- *sob* She- *sob* She's dead! *sobsobsobsobsob*" said the girl, then she ran out of the room crying.
On the way home in the car, I told mom and dad about the three girls. "Turn the car around. We're going back," said mom to my dad. When we got back to the orphanage, they told me to stay in the car. "We'll be right back," said dad. They were inside for ten minutes, when they finally came back-with the three girls!
They moved me to the middle of the front seat and put the girls in the back. "This is going to be a long summer..." I thought as we drove off toward home.
(January 26, 2013 - 5:21 pm)
Lydia wasn't sure quite what to think. Her mind had gone pretty numb. It started when a girl, who Lydia had never seen before, was sitting in their favorite window seat. Hey, wait! That's our spot!" Lydia cried, before she even realized what she was saying. Then, realizing was was being rather rude, quickly ammended; "I mean, you can sit there if you want, but..." Her voice trailed off. She wasn't quite sure what to say. Thankfully, Zada stepped in. "I'm Zada, and she's Lydia. What's your name?" The girl replied that her name was Amitty. She told how her parents were here to help out with tornado victims. Humph. Well Lydia certainly didn't need charity. The girls stared at each other a few moments, neither quite sure what to say. Suddenly, Kitty ran in sobbing. "What's wrong?!" Zada asked, rushing over. "My mom's dead!" Kitty sobbed. Lydia dropped the pillows she was holding. Kitty rushed out of the room, Zada following closely behind. Lydia took one last look at the strange girl, who had a look of bewilderment and sympathy on her face, then quickly took off after Kitty. She found the two sitting under a large oak tree, their favorite spot outside. Kitty's face was burried in her hands, Zada had her arm around her, trying to comfort the girl. Lydia sat on the other side of Kitty, but said nothing. She wasn't really good at comforting. She usually ended up making people feel worse. But she did care, though, she'd never gone through this herself. She wasn't accustomed to crying. In fact, she could recall only maybe once or twice she'd ever cried. After a while, Kitty stopped crying, and just leaned on Zada. Lydia saw the strange girl, Amitty, leave with her parents. Gabriel came out to check on Kitty. He knelt down in front of her, and soothingly like, reassurence, and all that. Then he looked at Lydia. She starred back with a rather board expression, which she always used around him. "Glad you finally have some friends to look after you," he said. "Now I don't have to do it all the time." Lydia stuck her tongue out at him. Rather annoying, yet in the big brotherly way. The same way as Jack. But the normal pain that stabbed her when she thought of him wasn't as painful. More just a sweet tender rememberence. Suddenly, the car that had left just a short while ago pulled back up in front of the orphanage. Amitty's parents climbed out, and walked determinly back inside. Gabriel stood, the said; "I'll be back soon." And walked off to see what was going on. Shortly after, he came back outside, an odd expression on his face. A mixture of glad, and, what was that, saddness? Why on earth would Gabriel be sad? "Come on, Mrs. Andrew wants you," he said, offering his hand to the girls. They followed him inside, giving each other what's-going-on looks. Lydia's stomach clenched. She had a fear building suspicion why Amitty's parents had come back, and why Mrs. Andrew wanted them. Not that she was necessarily afraid of being adopted, but, she'd lived at the orphange for so long, the idea of being anywhere else made her nervous. Mrs. Andrew greeted the girls smiling, with Amitty's parents next to her, smiling as well. Lydia allowed her hair to hide her face. "Girl's, these nice people are going to adopt you!"
Okay, I'm going to stop there because 1.) this post is ridiculously long, and 2.) I want Lexi and Melody be able to potray their character's some too! Hope I'm not encroaching to much on other people's characters. If so, just tell me.
(January 30, 2013 - 2:04 pm)
"Girls, these nice people are going to adopt you!"
Zada's first reaction was protest. It was really very kind, but no one knew for sure if her parents were dead. Mrs. Andrews saw this look on Zada's face, and put in, "Or be your foster family."
"What do you mean?" asked the tall gruff man who looked very kind, who Zada belived to be that girl sitting in their window seat's father, Amitty's father.
"Zada's--we aren't sure if Zada's parents are dead yet."
"Oh," was Amitty's mother's short reply. Zada felt a little callow, frankly.
It seemed that everything was going to work out though. They went though some adoption procedures Zada did not understand. Because it was getting late, the three girls slept at the orphanage. Before they went to bed, they passed through the TV room, where everyone was watching The Muppet Movie (the ORGINAL!). It was Gonzo's big solo in the song "I'm going to go back there someday." Zada remembered watching that scene with her parents when se was seven. She remembered it being boring and dull, but now the words of the song rang out to her with beautiful sound.
There's not a word yet
For old friends who've just met
Part heaven, part space
Or have I found my place?
Zada thought about everything that had happened to her so suddenly. The tornado, the orphanage, Mr. Snowman, Lydia, shoelaces, Kitty, and now this.
[..] I'm going to go back there someday. . .
Suddenly Zada knew exactly what she needed to do. No one could make up her mind for her, she reminded herself.
She was going to go back.
If you haven't seen THE MUPPET MOVIE you only need to know the song "I'm going to go back there someday" to understand, but I suggest you watch the movie anyways.
(January 30, 2013 - 7:03 pm)
Wait, Lexi. Can you please revise your post? Because, if you'll reread my part, it says, "my parents came back with the three girls." And you said you spent one last night at the orphanage. Will you please fix this, or should we go on and pretend it didn't happen?
Thanks, Violet
Lexi and Violet, let me know if you want me to delete a comment that's already been posted. We can do that, but we need to know specifically which comment.

Okay, how about Amitty was watching THE MUPPET MOVIE when they arrived?
Sorry about the mistake.
(January 31, 2013 - 5:44 pm)
That's perfect, Lexi! And it's no big deal. Everyone makes mistakes… but anyway, let's just move on with the stor--oh wait! Amitty was sitting in the truck. How about everyone watching Muppets when we get back to the house?
(January 31, 2013 - 7:32 pm)
Fine by me!
(January 31, 2013 - 8:08 pm)
It all sounds good, but, forgive me, I'm a little lost. Where are we now? I'll let one of you two write the next part.

Okay, since I fear this thread is dying anyway, I shall go ahead and write the next piece. Still open for tweaking.
Lydia sat by the window, starring out, next to Zada. Gabriel had been the last one she saw, waving, until the orphanage was out of sight. She heaved a sigh. She'd miss Gabriel and his big brotherlyness. It had thoroughly and properly shocked her when Mr. and Mrs. Lastion had decided to adopt her. Nobody had even given her a second glance when people came looking to adopt. Not that she really helped the case, but still. She was too old for people to really want. Mrs. Lastion talked about what it would be like for them to come live with them, what their house was like, (which, Lydia thought she had heard her say was currently upside down, whatever that meant), and most of all, how pleased they were to have them. Lydia wasn't so sure about Amitty. She hadn't said a word since they got in the car. But then again, neither had Lydia. Zada, the peace maker, had made some small talk, and Kitty had spoken occasionaly, but Lydia just didn't have any sort of way with words. She sighed and stared ahead. What would it be like, being adopted? And what would Amitty think of her?
Okay, people, please write in! I really like this thread!

Okay, let me back up from where I left off. They get to Amitty's house and then they watch that one scene from THE MUPPET MOVIE because even though it's kind of weird to watch TV the moment you've been adopted... Okay, how about they accidentally left the TV running and the movie is on that scene when they get there. Because then Zada here's one of the lyrics "I'm going to go back there someday." And she decides she's going back. Going back where? Time to find out...
Trying to get everyone to bed and figuring out where everyone was sleeping was a disaster. Zada eventually found herself in the basement on an air matress with Kitty. Zada thought about telling Kitty about her plan (idea), but decided it was better with no one knowing.
"This is all happening so fast," whispered Kitty.
"I know," said Zada. Maybe it wasn't super great of her to be running away as soon as she was adopted... "This is going to be a long week."
"With social workers," said Kitty making a face.
"I know," laughed Zada. She really shouldn't run away...
There was a thumping on the stairs. It was Amitty's dad--their adoptive father. "Time to go to sleep," he said. "It's going to get light soon!" he joked, seeing that it was ten o'clock.
"It's not that late," complained Zada. She liked Amitty's--her(?)--father. He was nice.
He shook a finger at them. "Just promise me you'll go to sleep before midnight!" Zada and Kitty nodded. Who knows, I might be back by midnight... or maybe I'll do it tomorrow.
"Well rest up! We're going to turn the attic into a big bedroom tomorrow, or at least get you all organized up there tomonrrow." The it had to be tonight. There was a door leading from the basement to the backyard.
Their adoptive father left, and Kitty yawned. Zada pretended to go to sleep, waiting for Kitty to be asleep herself. Upon hearing heavy breathing that wasn't quite a "snore," Zada quietly got out of bed and tiptoed to the door. She slipped on her sneakers that she had left there, and quietly twisted the lock on the door. She heard a slight sound and practicly lept in the air, only to see it was Kitty turning over in her sleep. Zada carefully slid open the door, not to disrupt the sleeping Kitty, and closed it behind her.
Having gone to sleep in her jeans and a hoodie, Zada was only chilled on the cool early autum night. Her house, or what was her house, was less than a mile from here. She decisively started to jog.
When she could see the ruins of her house in the distance, Zada started to slow down. Before she knew it, she was there. She walked through the rubble, and couldn't help her falling tears. This had been her house...this had been her room. There was what was left of her harp... she plucked the only string still intact... it made an off-tune pling. An off-tune pling just like her life. The life of and off-tuned pling.
Okay, weird ending for this entry but I have to go.

Brooke lay there, thinking hard. She wasn't currently laying on the floor of Amitty's room. Amitty had offered her bed, though Lydia had declined. She needed to just be, to get her thoughts straight. Amitty's father had come in to tell her they'd be fixing up the attic for Zada, Kitty, and her. She could tell, by the steady rise and fall of Amitty's breath she was asleep. The clock on the dresser read 10:51. Suddenly, Lydia heard a slight sound outside. She got and looked out the window. A figure stood out in the yard. She could tell it wasn't a burgler. 1.) It stood facing away from the house, as if about to leave. 2.) It was too small. It had a feminine silhouette, almost like... She'd been sleeping in an old pair of sweatpants, so she quickly threw on a faded denim jacket, her black lace up boots, and slipped outside. She'd looked out the window, seeing the figure head north/west. She jogged in the direction she'd seen the figure go. Fifteen minutes later, she arrived in a devastated neighborhood. Houses were destroyed, rubble everywhere. She scanned the area. There! Standing by one house in paticular, a dark figure stood looking down. Lydia approached. She could hear soft sobbing. She debated as to what to do. Finally, she stepped into a ray of moonlight, and asked gently; "Zada, what are you doing here?"
Cappie says gund.
(February 11, 2013 - 3:58 pm)
"Zada, what are you doing here?"
Zada spun around on her heel, just to see Lydia. "Wha--!!!"
"Zada," said Lydia gently. "We should go home."
This comment brought tears to Zada's eyes. "This IS home," she muttered.
Zada watched Lydia survey her rubble. Her harp, a fencing mask, a Harry Potter poster (don't sue me, JK Rowling!) Zada collasped onto a frame of metal that had once been her bed.
"But why are you here, Zada?" asked Lydia. "Aren't you happy at Amitty's?"
Zada didn't need to--want to--answer Lydia's question. It didn't matter, though. Lydia knew the answer anyways.
"--your parents." Lydia sais, as though finishing off a thought outloud. She quickly covered her mouth.
"I don't know what happened to them, Lydia. Anything could've happened."
{This is where I, the author, got an awful idea of how I could change this almost realistic fiction story into pure fantasy--but didn't dare.}
"Zada, the police will do an investigation."
Zada felt a sudden urge of anger burn through her. "BUT THEY HAVEN'T! IF THE POLICE WANT TO DO AN INVESTIGATION, THEY SHOULD JUST GO AHEAD! IT'S BEEN ALMOST TWO WEEKS SINCE THE TORNADO AND--" Zada paused, looked at Lydia, and averted her eyes. "Sorry." Zada didn't know for certain how Lydia felt right now, but it must be somwhere near awful. Lydia's parents were dead, so why should Zada pile up all of her pain and send it off to Lydia? Lydia already knew what it felt like, to be in such a hopeless situation. "Sorry," she muttered again.
Lydia helped her up from the bed. "Come on," she said. "Let's go home."
Zada couldn't help but look back at what was once home as they walked off.
(February 13, 2013 - 7:03 pm)
I don't have time to write a full post, but question for Lexi; What, for curiosity's sake, was the awful diobolical plan to make it fantasy? (Perhaps something to hold onto for another RP down the road! ;)
Cappie says ceca. I do believe Cappie is refering to an intestin!
(February 14, 2013 - 1:57 pm)
So you know how her parents were trapped in the basement? I was thinking there could be, like, a portal to another world in their basement. I didn't dare, though. I should try to write less fantsy/sci fi. And then Zada's parents would be alive and say "Sorry honey, your whole life was kind of a lie, and we're actually secret against, oh, and you were born in a different dimension.
I decided against writing that.
Cappie says fdrw. Are you insulting me, Cappie?
